Przemas
here`s the mini i`ve intedneded to enter into rotten harvest but due to being a lazy dumbass and not reading the rules got to remove it . colours on the pic are a tad messed up - i`ll try to make better photos. it was an experiment in colour theory for me. i`ve used only 2 colours and 4 paints overall (p3 thamar black, p3 menoth white highlight, p3 heartfire, p3 beaten purple). Skya
One of my favorite Darksword pieces. I'm liking the skin tones and that's a neat and interesting take on the flame.
Ritual
That's a beauty, Przemas! I was actually looking at this mini yesterday, considering whether or not to buy one and now I think I will have to! Sorry about the DQ, but at least you got a spankingly good miniature out of the ordeal!

stubbdog
very nice piece. I want to see some more in terms eyelashes, that part just looks a little off. Also, are those tarot cards on the floor?
Wren
Fantastic job on this, but mind-boggling that you did it with only four paints. Particularly that you got a nice natural skin tone and great gold.
stubbdog
I completely missed the part about 4 colors. That is awesome skin for only that.
Przemas
well to be honest when i first started experimenting with colour theory i was quite surprised how much you can achieve with very limited choice of colours too . mixing paints is fun . here`s how my wet palette looked like when i was finishing skin areas:
Wren
I did a four colour mini a while back, and I was impressed with the range of colours I could mix up, though I found some of the mixing frustrating and felt like it used gobs more paint than I would normally. I had picked a colour I knew I could use for skin as well as a few other things, so I'm still super impressed by what you did. I'll have to try your four colours some time. :-> Thanks for the look at your palette, that's actually quite instructive.
Przemas
it`s generally quite impressive what can you do with complementary colours. previously i`ve tried green, red, white, black and it worked nicely as well.
Bexley
What mix did you use for the nmm? I'm trying to see in my head how you got yellows out of those colors, and it's not happening. I'm sure it's possible, I'm just trying to make it work in my head and I'm not seeing it.
Bexley
Also- are you disqualified or is the entry disqualified? If you've got the weekend free, you could do another entry if that's possible.
Przemas
@Bexley: the entry got disqualified - i haven`t read the rules carefully and showed some wip pics. I think I`d be able to paint something during the weekend but the deadline was October 31st, am I right? as I`ve used yellow-purple complementary set on summonner getting the nmm gold wasn`t very hard. hope i haven`t confused you by mentioning that before i made some succesful experiments with red-green set (check my khadoran manhunter skin colour). there`s one problem i`ve got though - p3 heartfire is very strong yellow that shifts to orange side. nmm with pure heartfire would look cartoonish. i`ve added a tiny amount of purple and black to it to get the tone more to my liking. Bexley
Oh, for Rotten Harvest. I thought you were DQ'd from Iron Painter. I see it now. I was thinking Heartfire was an orange (like, a really orangey orange) and not a yellow. My mistake.
ThunderhawkerMinis
When I was in college, my painting IV professor would walk over when I was about to start a new project (this happened maybe three times that semester) and said you get three, and black can't be one. It is amazing how a limited pallette can become so versatile and lend itself to a unifying theme. great work!
Wren
Thanks for the tip on complementary colours. The one I did I used a blue and a brown with a touch of orange, but I didn't really do that thinking of complementaries.
