goblyn13
I like the factory bases, not too sure about the skulls, was always what put me off about the GW stuff.
Gonzoangel
Never did like the skull bases, no matter who made them.
vincegamer
Have you ever seen an army mounted on skull bases? That would be just weird.
Nathan Caroland
Skull bases are alright for some things, but they shouldn't be overdone so that everything is just packed and you couldn't fit a miniature on there as it was. Here is an example of one I used a few years back on one of my first minis that I was so proud of at the time (and still one of my favorites!). Lots of skulls there, but not 'tons' and sort of fits the theme.
Vytis
Always felt that skulls on bases were overdone. Have the same feeling often about blood on weapons, too. If done correctly, both fit, especially in the correct themes. Otherwise, ends up looking tacky and contrived to me at least.
vincegamer
Nathan, you could achieve something like what you did with the bases here. You just have to cover up a bunch of them with grass. Of course on close inspection I see the ones here have ork skulls, alien skulls, dog/wolf skulls etc., which might not fit your theme. Highbulp Billy
Got some Microarts bases recently in a mini exchange and really like the quality. I'm not generally a fan of skull bases either - it's hard to imagine many contexts where they would be realistic - but they look well made. thewartoad
I really love the "DECKED OUT" bases! Cheers!
