Gnomezilla
My minis hobbying has been sidelined for a bit—long story short, I have a few ounces of spray shellac left in the can and no other furniture to use it on. It’s water-soluble (after some effort) so it is bad for minis, but is there maybe a use for it in terrain-making?
solkan
I’m freaked out that you’re calling shellac water soluble since I’ve used it mostly as something to paint on bare MDF to prevent the material just soaking up paint and/or warping over time. Gnomezilla
Maybe I used the wrong word. Shellac isn’t going to instantly melt away if it gets damp, but it isn’t impervious to water either, that’s how water rings get onto old furniture. But then, this can also suggests using it on spackle and drywall so someone else is using it for purposes similar to yours. I don’t know. Woodworking is very much not my thing. I’m just using it since it’s the most easily reversed wood finish for when a competent woodworker gets ahold of these, yet I needed to apply something now to protect the wood. To go slightly back on topic to the forum—after using this spray can I am convinced that brush-on primer was the correct choice for me. You can’t sand uneven finish off a mini.
