Advanced pursuit and party comp

Hello everyone!

 

I was just curious of how you guys have handled advanced pursuits. All of my players are interested in various advance, how have you guys handled, so example, someone wanting to become a guild based pursuit, like death marshal, and someone else is interested in something like necromancy based, like grave spirit. After spending several sessions working together, how do you keep them together but also allow them to developer their characters as they see fit?

I let the chips fall as they may. Inter-party conflict is a part of role-playing. Just make sure the players are okay with the possibility of player on player violence.

Have to agree with Shadowopal on that, for a lot of pursuits there might not be much conflict but if two players clearly want to go different ways then something is going to give in some way.  Either they strike some sort of deal even if it is between characters or they kill each other.  Often these signs are clear from the beginning as someone wanting to go Grave Servant is likely already taking necromancy like stuff and someone interested in pursuing something like a death marshal likely has those leanings early on as well.

First of all - talk with the players. Ask them how do they see this - are they both ok with going PvP route? or maybe the characters are not extremists of the leanings and can make a deal of sorts? If neither of these is happening - then have a conversation about what will have to give way. 

In the end, the three of you can agree on a lot of different things, for example:
a) Let it evolve on it's own and PvP may happen

b ) figure out how can they coexist and work
c ) Deus ex machina a solution they agree with - like getting cursed that if one dies, the other dies, thus allowing more extreme viewing characters to work together

 I bet you and your players, knowing the situation, can agree to something which makes much more sense in context. 

PvP is not the answer, unless you(and your players) want it to be.
