Bayou Gremlin Whoops Ricochet trigger

The Bayou Gremlins Boomstick has the trigger Whoops Ricochet that states

After resolving, the closest other friendly model within 12" and LOS suffers 1 damage.

 

I interpret this rule as meaning one of my friendly Gremlin models takes 1 damage, not an enemy model that is friendly to the original target.  Is this correct?

Yep, it's specifying that "other friendly model suffers 1 damage", not that the target of the attack does.

After resolving, the closest other friendly model within 12" and LOS suffers 1 damage.

The part in blue is simply specify which friendly model suffers the damage--the closest other model which is within 12" and in LOS of the attacker.

Note that "friendly" and "enemy" is relative to the attacker for attack actions.

I'll also add that if a trigger doesn't specify the target of the action as the model affected or from where the affect starts, it defaults to the acting model.
