Targeting friendly models with an attack action

Here's one thing I'm unclear on: When you're targeting one of your own models with an attack action (either by shooting into melee, or deliberately to get a trigger, such as Freikorps Specialist's Wildfire)....how does the duel work there, as opposed to a normal opposed duel?

It works two ways, one just like a normal duel but you are flipping both for attacking and the defending models and can cheat for either or both. Or the second is you can relent the defending model I which case your attacking model is the only one making flips and the attack automatically counts as a tie unless you don't hit any relevant target numbers

Also worth adding that if you relent the attack, that model (the defender) does not get to declare a Trigger though the attacker can.

Oddly enough this actually came up last night - came across the absurd situation where I was actually trying to kill my own Freikorps Specialist with my Trapper

This technique is used a lot with Lures, Obeys, and other similar mechanics.
