Stake a claim

Ikvar

Question

We were a bit uncertain how exactly stake a claim works, do you always need to use the 2ap to place the marker, and then the discarding of the makers within 6 is just a bonus. Or do I just need to use a 1ap interact action like with all other scheme markers, and only use the 2ap action if I also need to remove some enemy scheme markers?

Be very careful with your wording and thinking on this one. A Claim Marker is different than a Scheme Marker. When playing Stake A Claim you are given the option of a (2)AP Interact Tactical Action, this action removes all Claim Markers within 6" and places a Claim Marker in base contact with the model that is interacting. Claim Markers are not owned by either player, however the player that has more Claim Markers on the opponent's side of the table gains 1 VP at the end of every turn, starting on turn 2. Scheme Markers are for Schemes and are removed and placed via the normal methods. Scheme Markers are not part of the Strategy, they are only for Schemes (some Story Encounters may use Scheme Markers in the Strategy, but that is a whole other ballgame). Hope this helps clear up the confusion.
