spectrehorseman
WIP while we wait for the Iron Painter round to finish. Graveyard Spirit - I had some left over zombie arms and heads and put them in some sculptamold. This stuff is great!
zFiend
Hey that looks pretty brutal. Can't wait to see that painted!
spectrehorseman
Little update. I went back and forth with the skin as I couldn't really settle on a good look. I tried reverse highlighting with white washes in the shadows (as fire is highlighted this way) hoping it would appear to glow but it didn't look quite right. Then I went with a kabalite green (GW) but I didn't like that either. So I washed it all over with white and a hint of Nihlakh oxide (GW technical) which is sorta flourescent blue/green.
zFiend
I really highly favour the old spirit over the new one but that base makes this model many times better than it is. Also I like the paints on this. Always happy to see your thread pop up.
spectrehorseman
Agree on the base. From the photo on the box, it feels like he's really big, then I opened and was like, "He's puny". So I built the base up more hoping it simulated exploding out of the ground.
Antebellum
Nice work. I like your Spirit. I went with a ghostly incorporeal attempt with mine ... not sure it worked out great. I almost tried the reverse highlighting, but couldn't find any good pictures to see how it actually looked.
spectrehorseman
It is definitley a technique that can turn out great. Case in point
spectrehorseman
oh yeah, it's on now, got my lightbox built and set up. Way better pictures. I was so disappointed cause I know they look so much better in person than what I've been representing. Feedback is always appreciated. spectrehorseman
I tried to use Mako's Tips about spot colors on these models. I know Blue and Orange are opposite. Since I am using a blue/green, I was hoping the orange highlights would provide some spot color contrast.
zFiend
Well they all are bloody damn amazing. I especially love the Ashigarus and the lawyer with the book.
