  1. Ah, sort of a spiderweb with Lucius at the center. Pretty cool sounding, I might give this list a go. Your obvious main damage dealer is Agent 46, but if Lucius can get the investigator to do an early attack and give staggered, they could do see damage as well! And definitely, the negative flips are good as long as you've got the card draw, which is never an issue with Lucius. I think I'll give this list a go. I've got a few months to train for the next tournament and I'd love to bring Lucius into the mix.
  2. Excellent! I like the movement tricks w/ the investigators. So this list looks pretty good, especially when they stay near each other. How do you handle strats and schemes that require spreading out? Outflank, Power Ritual, Turf War, Corrupted Idols, etc. My reason for asking is because these models by themselves tend to be pretty flimsy, so sending them somewhere without support hasn't gone well for me in the past
  3. Good! Most folk (including myself) think Lucius is pretty bad atm, but if I could see someone do really well with him and learn some stuff i feel like it'd really help! What's a Lucius list look like to you?
  4. I was thinking he'd be funny to hire into a Zoraida crew 😂 but tbh, beyond sticking him in with some Witchling Thralls and letting loose, I just can't seem to justify him.
  5. Indeed! My opponents are almost always ten thunders and rezzers so I've little exposure to the other factions, but the group up in Portland Oregon is much more vast and varied. I was chatting with them and although everyone agrees that Arcanists are in a really strong place right now, one of the things they'll do is pick a master, and just play nothing but that master for weeks on end. They REALLY know their crews and their enemies. Sun Tzu approves. That in mind, I definitely feel like I could have been doing better. I know now to pressure Marcus more right off the bat, and probably bring some anti bury tech (DMR, Jury) because that SS miner was huge for him. Hoffman is Hoffman. No Hoffman lost a game that tournament. I need to buy a Peacekeeper (they're so expensive) and when her model comes out, Melissa K.O.R.E. as well. But I don't wanna have to rely on the Hoffball to win all my games. Lady J has potential to be up there, especially with friends like the Judge and Pale Rider. I didn't end up taking Dashel or Lucius (my other 2 masters) though. Knowing that the Dispatch can basically provide enemy scheme markers as long as there's a minion next to him makes him a tad more viable, but his stuff seems pretty fragile with a lot of low min damage. I have 2 mounted guard and 1 Executioner so there's certainly mobility and power there, but I remain uncertain. Lucius is just... Lucius. If absolutely everything goes well then he could be almost unstoppable, but that's never ever happened. (I'm open to critique on the matter.) So next month, I'm getting 100 dollars that I can potentially put towards Malifaux. I want to be able to buy all the models for @4thstringer's Basse/Sonnia/Trap list but the Sonnia and Basse boxes would take up most of that money I think. I also don't have any Perdita or Nellie. Any opinions?
  6. Welp, my list for game 1 Lady Justice, Scales, Judge, Pale Rider, Guardian, Orderly and False Witness. At the end of the day, I don't think she's at any major disadvantage either, I've just never faced Marcus before, so was unaware of the snowball his card draw can become. Learned important lessons. I've also been forced to accept that, though she's a neat model, the False Witness is just too fragile to play at this level. My Hoffman crews were almost identical. Game 2 was Hoffman, Mechanical Attendant, Guardian, Joss, Langston, and 2 Hunters. They did very well against Von Schtook. Deliver a message is amazing against him because he doesn't have an engagement range, so you can get into base to base with him and put down a scheme marker for that second point! Game 3 was the same list, but subbed Mellisa KORE w/ Expert Marksman instead of Joss. She is ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT! Definitely prefer her over Joss. All in all, I was kicking myself over my mistake game 3, but I wouldn't have made it into second off of it. But I've definitely not given up on Guild, because I watched a guild player take second. I just need to play more to our strengths (amd figure them out 😂)
  7. Welp, did my tournament. It didn't go well for me 😂 First game I was crushed by an arcanist player. He brought Marcus against my Lady J crew. Once Marcus gets his upgrades rolling, the game is done lol. The amount of card draw he had was obnoxious. Final score was 3-5 Game 2 I fell back to Hoffman vs Von Schtook, went much better. Two hunters preformed very very well for scheme running, giving them fast turn 1 gives them tons of movement! Final score was 5-3. Last game I decided to stick with Hoffman. Played against Parker Burrows. Was very tired and my opponent had never played a game of M3E so the game went SLOW. Finished turn 3 with a 3-3 tie. I made a complete noob mistake and accidentally put the marker on MY side of the board (corrupted Idols). The arcanist player won by a landslide, but I believe another guild player took second place! He also used Hoffman very well.
  8. I think Alan Reid is best when he is giving out slow. I never thought about it til a friend showed me, but all of the keyword can give negative flips to duels against them. So if you have the lawyers playing aggressively and Alan Reid casting Slow on them, then they can't focus to get around your negative flips. This is pretty powerful and really helps with the crews defense. Alan also helps with the card circulation. Since he has ss, if Lucius can rush him into combat with something early, might be worth to discover an enemy scheme.
  9. A very non meta thought I had while thinking about synergies... Hoffman traditionally is entirely in keyword, and it's very very effective. I was thinking about kinda challenging that just a tad by hiring Grimwell and Langston (who is in keyword) in the same crew. I've been droning on lately about how effective Langston is at burning enemy cards and soulstones. I find that playing against an opponent who can't cheat tends to be much easier. Thus, I want to crank it up to 11. Grimwell is also a pretty good hand drain, with his melee attack having a potential discard and his triggers having either a guaranteed discard or potential multiple cards out. Grimwell having Nimble and access to stones means he can reliably get up to someone and start making those attacks w triggers. He can keep up with the fast that Hoffman hands out to the rest of his crew, and he can use stones in place of Power tokens. What do you think?
  10. Basse seems to be the way to go on this. The clockwork traps would do a great job of delaying forces for a turn or two as well. On the subject of Dashel, my view has shifted slightly. Some Genius figured out that The Dispatcher can use "Consolidate power" to push a friendly minion towards him. Then with the mask trigger, since guard models count him as a scheme marker, you can place an enemy scheme marker next to him and he would take a damage instead of being removed. So he can walk walk and then use that on a minion near him and set Dashel up for a good summon... Can't believe I didn't realize this myself. Basse is still better but this is an option.
  11. That sounds promising! He'd hace to target someone else and have them move to within 2" if him, because it's the trigger that does the scheme marker thing but I think it would work
  12. An update: The other day during my tourney dryrun, I took a chance and brought a DM recruiter. (Miss Terious on a 40mm base is a nice sub.) Enemy was Misaki so I figured it'd be a good model to have. Worked very well. Turn 1, Misaki buried and I immediately activated the DM Recruiter. She focused and fired at Misaki, did 5 damage. This had a serious impact on my opponent, as he either unburied Misaki immediately after burying her, or refused to bury her altogether. This meant Misaki spent much more time on the table exposed to Lady Justice and the Judge. Definitely don't think this model is a powerhouse, not sure if it's worth 8 points, but definitely is very useful against and with bury crews.
  13. Guys, keep in mind that even if he DID count as a scheme marker for the purposes of strats and schemes (which he doesn't) he is insignificant... So he doesn't count for ANYTHING related to strats and schemes
  14. My riotbreaker is shipping to me 😁 super stoked, should arrive in time for my tourney this weekend. And man, Langston. I used him in my dry run this last weekend. He executed Kang and a Metal Golem last week. Between his terrifying and his armor, he is ridiculously hard to hurt. Between his terrifying and his ability to give concealment, and the fact that he can reliably and repeatedly get his execute trigger on a high stat attack, he burns through enemy cards and soulstones at a ridiculous rate... At minimum, the rest of your crew will have an easy time against an opponent with no hand, and maximum he is killing key models left and right. It's just disgusting.
  15. Yeah fair enough. That in mind, I dunno how you feel about Howard Langston or not, but in my opinion he's like the best model in keyword by a Longshot. Stick a LLC on him and just laugh as the enemy crew melts.
  16. His melee is irreducable, but his shoot also ignores armor and has blasts built in, so he's capable of both. But both him and Melissa, plus a peacekeeper that has Flurry and access to Fast, plus command from Joss? 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 Thats gross dude, i love it. Congrats again!
  17. Great stuff! What are you using to proxy Melissa? I've been conflicted between her and Joss, as both have access to widespread area damage but Joss can ignore armor... Which would you recommend of the two?
  18. Seriously. It like Wyrd found out that I was stating the truth and just censored half my post 😂
  19. ^ what I was attempting to say
  20. What the fuck happened to my reply?????????????
  21. Yeah this is a situation I'd want wyrds take on. Here's my take on it: insignificant models are ignored for the purposes of strats and schemes. However, according to the strat rules, as long as an enemy model is killed it counts. Doesn't say they have to be killed by anything in particular, and the strat doesn't have any restrictions about who could do the killing. So, the insignificant model isn't scoring for it killing something, you're scoring off of something being killed, period. However, I still think this is way too much of a gray area without some sort of FAQ, and I definitely wouldn't ever try it against an opponent.
  22. Good Job! Just did a dry run before my tourny next weekend and found Hoffman to be very powerful. Any particular moment to share?
  23. That's pretty good! This is definitely the most nuanced of the strats, I'll definitely be reading all of this a couple times again. Might be something to be said for a smaller and more elite force so as to obtain pass tokens. A Yuoku crew would have a field day with this strat
  24. Apologies, got the digital version downloaded, you are indeed correct. Whomever flips the highest card determines who has initiative. Helps when you naturally flip higher but the opponent has a better suite.
