  1. Hey Wyrdos, I was part of the closed beta and with a couple tweaks made from the betas I’m really concerned about Abuelas place rn.

When we left her in the last beta, she was a defensively weak model that was difficult to position but had a fantastic obey and really opened up the hiring pool but with her wedding stripped off and obey dialed back I see no reason to take her in any crew.

’meemaw’s disapproval’ replaced ‘shotgun wedding’ but I find it a really wierd ability to give her considering that it’s directly at odds with her ‘on wheels’ ability which makes defending herself impossible when trying to trap a model in the aura. Furthermore, her low survivablity mean that even if she pops herself close to someone who cares, she’s dead to a stiff wind.

stripping back her obey was annoying as well as it now costs above average for an obey and doesn’t have the best range. Mechanically and flavour wise this doesn’t make much sense to me as the matriarch demands a little more respect than a 50/50 flip when it’s the only reason to take her.

Finally, when we look at her price bracket we see that monsterhunters are astronomically better for one stone more and for a stone less, pistolaroes are so much more versatile and not annoying.

P.s. what’s the enslaved nephilim’s job nowadays? With the extension of deployment zones and more built in movement, creepy noises and a crappy obey don’t mean all that much to the family. I’d suggest giving him abilities to semi-reliably be able to move enemy models which could be more useful to draw people out of cover or some scheme marker shenanigans which the family doesn’t have

  2. I’ve actually had great success with show off. With drunk and reckless and bayou 2 card, it can be devastating as it’s 3 unavoidable damage in a decent range! Also, if you have somer and a banjista nearby, you draw 3 cards. I’ve blown my enemy to smitheriens and drowned them in card advantage, especially brutal after a bigger hat!

Any strats/schemes you’d always choose him for? Or is he an auto-take regardless?

It’s funny, I don’t take him pro-activity but more re-activity to what I think the opponent is doing. I do like him for covert breakthrough, take one for the team, undercover entourage and for taking prisoners but he’s a flex model who can change gears fine on the fly like the whiskey golem who I love

    • Thanks 1
  4. He’s a very good alternative anti-scheme runner to fingers but is a bit fragile in the early game, I’ve had a couple games where my opponent has heard horror stories about him and have nuked him off the table turn 1 or early turn 2.

A main reason I take him instead of Fingers is the huge resources that can be gained. With treasure map, you cycle 2 cards and get an extra effect (hello soulstones!). He also offers more options with a decent attack, push and pounce (and yes, I’ve gotten the eating combo off multiple times, see ya Lilith!).

Absolutely love him, great for scheme and anti-scheme running!

  5. In every crew before GG18 I ran at least 3 in every crew. Great for burning activations and decent scheme runners. They actually survive longer than you’d think because of their defensive tech but with gg18 being more about survival and bigger models I’ve taken them in less and less crews

  6. I’m very disappointed at the new box, they could have done so much more with the Ulix or any other master. For me, ponies just comes off as lazy, strays further away from the solid and attractive themes the game started with and it’s not what I want from a nightmare box...

    ...but I’m still buying it...

  7. @Platov could you tell me more about how u keep Zipp and earl alive? As soon as the opponent figures out that earl’s the one giving him masks he’s dead in an instant. What are your strategies for keeping by earl with you?

I’ve actually been having a lot of trouble with Zipp in tournaments and would like to get better at him but I’m currently having better luck with brewie. Could I also get a sample list?

  8. I love love love the whiskey golem and take him in 90% of my crews and I’ve never regret it. A lot of people will talk him down but I love him so much because he can do ANYTHING and fill any hole. The list I gave you was just a budget one.

Most people also take Burt with dirty cheater, which is always worth it btw, and at that point they cost the same and id rather have the golem. Don’t forget his 0 stone upgrade

  9. I would highly suggest getting the Ophelia box and Zipp box to start @Macdaddy353. They’re both fantastic masters who play differently with solid crew boxes that compliment each other.

And do you think Zipp is really a harder kill than Ophelia @Platov? If he’s pinned down he’s dead.

anyway, here’s the list I’d make out of the 2 boxes but I’d want to get Burt as another melee threat for the skeeters to taxi

    50 SS Gremlins Crew
    Zipp + 4 Pool
     - No Quarter (1)
     - Dirty Cheater (1)
    Earl Burns (3)
    The First Mate (9)
     - Treasure Map (0)
     - Where The Captain Can't See (1)
    Francois LaCroix (8)
     - Stilts (1)
    Iron Skeeter (6)
     - Poorly Handled Explosives (0)
    Iron Skeeter (6)
     - Hovering Airship (1)
    Pere Ravage (6)
    Raphael LaCroix (6)
     - Dirty Cheater (1)

This crew has high potential to control enemy movement and remove problem models. Use Zipp, the first mate and skeeters to pull the enemy out of position then use frank, pere and Raphael to kill people who need to leave.
  10. Thanks, I’m always looking to improve the tactica.

The pere+expolives was actually a very potent combo at the latest UK masters so enjoy that one!

the iron skeeters can be used as replacement scheme runners fine and earl tends to drop a few when I play im

  11. Hey mate! Welcome to the game,

that list is pretty solid as an extremely fast, in-your-face build but I’d drop Merris and team work on pere for Francois LaCroix to save some money and because Francois is a monster.

Merris is usually used as a scheme runner but this crew wants to rapidly engage with strong melee threats.

How’d you find the Ophelia tactica?
