  1. I can understand both sides of the argument but seeing as this is about opinions then I prefer e zine as a format... I never use my phone for anythng but phone calls and I look forward to an ezine every two months knowing I will read all of it because it is limited so I will often read Through The Breach scenarios even though I don't play it....a blog is take it or leave it and even the odd couple of blogs that I do follow I only check in a few times a year to see what has been going on generally but never as part of an on going discussion Ultimately I'm easy...whatever makes people happy is ok with me even if that does mean less engagement for me personally
  2. An early WIP.... but only because they have been in WIP mode for too long already...if anyone wakes up in the night hearing an unearthly scream do not worry...it is not the undead...it will just be me trying to glue these onto the Goryo bodies
  3. From the album: Burnin' Coal

    WIP Painters Challenge May 2017
  4. Back from traveling and back to the fold 😀 ....and thankyou to Wyrd for making so many models that I want most of them... A quick glance at my work table gives me almost an overload of choices...so I think I will take a break on my Neverborn this month and work on some figures for my compagnera's future faction of choice - the filthy Ressers....so...two Goryo at 7SS each this month....they have been underway for way too long and need finishing... I made the decision to build the ghosts seperately so that I could add them after painting....mwah hah hah !!....it seemed like a good idea at the time 😫😂...I'll post a photo of the seperate ghosts later today or tomorrow because I still have work to do on them whereas the Goryo bodies are maybe too far down the line for a WIP...I'll also post photos of the bases I have planned during their construction....hope that's ok with everyone
  5. He must be the cousin of my Witchling Stalkers 😂...I had to dust mine the other day because they look like old museum exhibits covered in black primer 😀
  6. @Joachim very nice brushwork as always....very much like your recruiters and Abuela's sombrero still knocks me out.... For rust : a very good tip I picked up from the military modellers on YouTube.....sea salt....first base coat the area you wish to appear rusted with your rust color of choice (you've already done that)....take some coarse sea salt, crush it a little so that the grains are different size...brush water over the area you wish rusted then just before it dries out completely sprinkle the sea salt onto it...the remaining moisture will stick the sea salt to the plastic...airbrush a slightly lighter shade of your final color over the affected area...then moving the angle of the airbrush pass over the same area with a few spots of a slightly darker shade....wait until it is all dry then with a stiff brush remove all the stuck on salt...a brush dipped in pure water will remove the last traces of salt...you will be left with a rusted area within faded paintwork....very effective even on a first try (Imused it on my Patti Ramone entry last month)
  7. @Purple Mist thanks for the kind words....the bases were just a cork clad in plastic strip that I used a rivet tool on and then lots and lots of glazes using turquoise and pale yellow then shaded with very dark brown and violet....but for examples of NMM there's people on here way better than me...I just paint for enjoyment and if or when it becomes a chore I stop @H4ml3t thanks - I like the sculpts and the idea behind them but for the first time in any of my Malifaux models I added the details to the upper skirt with Greenstuff to make them a bit more shaman like @Shock & Awe thankyou....I hear you...it would be interesting but also a bit of a drag if we all made the same model in a month so I try to avoid starting the same models as other people in the Challenge....but the problem was I'd already started them last month...I was going to do Marlena Webster this month but saw that @Viruk was doing her so changed course...like you I am taking on a lot of Neverborn models - in my case to build on the starter set...but I also need to do the same with the Guild models I have waiting in the queue...we all use our imagination in different ways so I look forward to seeing what you do with yours
  8. Still didn't manage to get going on Barbaros so he's still waiting for his moment on the paint table....so....for April here I am with two Black Blood Shamans for a total of 14SS
  9. Been working so just catching up with all the great work going on..... Firstly @Viruk making models and sharing time with each other over the web is one thing but to hear of your daughter puts it all in another perspective...like others you are in my thoughts and my best wishes go out to you and yours......a nice take on the alt Lazarus and I really like what you did with Marlena Webster...I was going to have a go at that model next month but will wait a while now as I take ypur brushwork in @Joachim be as modest as you like but Abuela's sombrero is just crazy good....nice work on the Jury too @Shock & Awe lovely take on Misaki @bedjy your garden and mansion are fantastic...very inspiring @Franchute Amina totally rocks @prof_bycid liking your medical automaton @Purple Mist impressive work rate....your nephilim look great together and the basing is very good too @Amdor you packed a lot of brushwork into ypur mechanical dove...came out great
  10. Am guessing Bayou Bash but hoping it's for Malifaux
  11. @prof_bycid Hi Prof... the first time I have seen the medical automaton sculpts...I look forward to seeing what you do with them
  12. It'll be one of your site wizards who'll sort it hopefully...way beyond anything I understand but am glad you guys are taking a look at it...the Painters Challenge Crew will be delighted to get it back
  13. Am using iPad with Safari...a few weeks ago is when all the previous likes disappeared but since then I have noticed, as have others, that if I leave a like and navigate to another page when I go back the like has disappeared
  14. Could it be a device issue ? When I started this thread it was not just because the like button stopped working but also because it had removed likes going back at least two weeks
  15. @Boomstick nice work on the basing already 👍
  16. Still not fixed - just left a "like" then refreshed the page and it had disappeared...is anyone going to fix this ?...because it's making the interactive aspect of this forum non existent
  17. Hmm...interesting.....maybe it's a device problem...I am using an iPad @Chou reported the same problem as me earlier so there is definitely a glitch...and it's definitely spoiling my enjoyment of the Painters Challenge
  18. I just tried again...left a "like" for a post then navigated to a different page...when I returned the "like" had disappeared....whereas Thottbot has reacted to my post here and that I can see...so truly weird...but of all the notifications I have received over the last week that is the only one I can see
  19. @Thottbot .......err.....no they haven't because it still has the same issues i.e. I can't see my reaction to other posts nor other people's reaction to mine....AND....if I leave a "like" and navigate away from the page when I go back there the reaction is no longer there
  20. @Franchute way cool 👍....many thanks....apart from all the models I have yet to build that will be a great help in clearing my backlog of partly finished models that is in danger of gathering dust I have also posted on the home page about the "like" button not working....it works but all reactions disappear as soon as I navigate away from whatever page I am on plus I can't see anybody's reaction to anything...hope they fix it soon as this thread is great in good part because of our interactions with each other
  21. I have nothing but admiration for those who take on entire crews or any number of models greater than my general offering of two or three (or one last month)....so...this month I will be finishing those started last month...Barbaros and two Black Blood Shamans....the Shamans are well underway so I hope to post a finished photo within the fortnight I am doing this on the understanding that SS for models count in the month they are finished...correct ? also @Franchute until now I have entered models either on the sprue or primered...how underway can a model be to enter ? For example I have two Goryo that have been sitting on my bench for months now...maybe 75% finished...are they too finished to enter ? Am totally ok with no as an answer...just curious to know😉
