  1. Hey!

I've just ordered myself the Study Group and Honor Roll boxes. Looking to part with the models that make up the old University of Transmortis box, since I already have, that.

    Valedictorian

    Student of Steel, Sinew, Viscera

Looking for £25 + pp. Open to offers!

    Based in the UK.

How are people finding the new strats and schemes?

I think we're well positioned for Bait and Switch (or even just snag an easy end of game point off of it), but I've not figured out Break the Line yet. I'd like to try Reva next.

Just played Break The Line with Reva, lost 3 v 4 against Asami - @Insomniakwulfcame in at the end with some interesting feedback. Although Reva hit like a train and did some work, I kept her too far back. If you get her sat on the centre line, she can threatened 2/3 Strat markers.

I tend to take quite an elite list with Reva, and didn't have the models to where is felt okay to spend their turns moving the Pyre markers. Since Asami shut down my Grave Golem (Jorogumo with their heal-deny and positive dmg flips), I wish I'd taken either Lampad or Dead rider for the Interact, free move, interact combo.

Bone pile did absolutely work tho. Against a non corpse marker denial crew (shakes fist at Oni), they would be amazing. Maybe take two, then ealking/chucking corpse candles or zombies where you need them, then popping out Bone Piles to move a marker.

  3. Some really useful pointers here - thanks all!

In taking Anna, I'm worried at what I lose in movement - especially as its corner. If I have Valley off in one direction, and say a Viscera in another, I'm worried about the Viks jumping the very slow Schtook & Anna.

But I guess time they spend doing that is time they're not killing my point scorers!

I haven't played into the Viks as a keyword in a long time so I'm not sure what you can do into them that is specific to them. The last time I saw viks they were brought as a 2nd masters and I had no real issue with them.

I would definitely not remove Anna from your list though. She prevents the vik's place shenanigans and keeps their sister from being able to heal them in her aura. Bring additional stones for forcing neg flips and stoning off damage.

Their crew is squishy as a whole and should be able to be brought down. Choose your Vale target carefully and do whatever you can to prevent the viks from double teaming her. If they do get in close, Stunning them is going to be extremely helpful.

    Tips for this round:

In corner deploy - DO NOT DIVE T1, I do not care how tempting it is, don't do it. You'll get wrecked by any melee focused crew especially as you'll likely only have 2 swings (3rd AP and flurry) which won't kill a model. Instead, activate Vale before schtook, move her up a little bit and focus. Then give her the upgrade, fast and a second focus for T2. This will set her up for a big T2 swing and should allow you to kill a model and convert it for the stone swing you're going to need. Then give Anna the upgrade and fast on T2 or do what you can to injure as many models as you can (except Taelor). Do not Stun Taelor, its a waste of an action since she can shrug off stunned and not count it as an action. Save your diving for later in the turn, you want them to try to waste AP with Viks or Taelor to move into you rather than the other way around. If both Viks and Taelor get full swings on a model you're going to be stone dead and the model is going to be dead anyway (again, bring at least 7 stones here and use them as needed - if your hand is extremely bad (IE more than 2 weaks or no severes). It is very common for me to burn through all my stones by T2 even when bringing 6-9).

Make sure you have a plan for all your models along with how to accomplish your goals. Vendetta will be difficult as your beaters are cost 10 (he will likely have vendetta on vale), Let them bleed will be possible but difficult, Claim jump is doable but you're going to have to win the middle fight against all his beaters, take prisoner is doable if you know what model is going to be his leyline model, Spread them out is also doable with how many scheme markers you drop (not sure if viks have a way to remove).

    --------------------

Good luck and have fun :)

    Amazing input - thank you!

I never played against Vicks tbh, so I don't feel qualified to give advice. It also seemed like Face already had ideas how to improve their own gameplan.

As far as I can tell, Viks is solid in the "beatable" range in terms of powerlevel. But I also occasionally hear from people struggeling against her, so I would assume it's a matter of experience?

The crew looks quite squishy. Should give opportunities to summon more than usual. They're highly mobile, but Transmortis is pretty good at that as well. If 3rd floor's Viks guide is to be believed, they like to keep you busy hunting for them, while they score. Reads like that worked last time and Face knows better now.

Love your guide @Graf! What are your thoughts about what you gain/lose from taking/dropping Anna - what do you weigh up?

  6. Playing Schtook into Viks again this round. I got absolutely murdered last time! Any advice? The notes I took for myself after my last thrashing were:

    1. Actually use the models you took to score the strats/scheme for that purpose! Took Viscera to score Symbols, but then held him back to try and help Schtook & Valley Girl who got jumped.
    2. Related to the first, don't get stuck in combat with the Viks - if it's inevitable, but not going to score AP, work around it rather than to win it.
    3. I spent my cards too readily on non-AP scoring or non-essential actions.

I'm currently looking at a few lists, varying from mobile to hyper-mobile - essentially based on whether or not I take Anna. If I don't take her, I can pack my list with Viscera, Bone Pile, Necropunks and be super agile; but I lose Anna's counter-place and bury tech.

    Any thoughts appreciated!

    Haha, okay okay:

    • Reva & candles
    • Carrion Emissary
    • Manos
    • Bete Noire with GST
    • Bone Pile
    • Shieldbearer

This list can get both Bete and Bone Pile down to 1 hp on turn one (with 0 risk of accidental death from flipping all severes), and then heal them both back to 6+ health. The tricky part was figuring out how to do it without accidental death xD

So you can drop two evidence markers in your deployment zone in the far back corner, then have two models that can teleport around the map (making Vendetta, Catch and Release, and Breakthrough all easy scoring options).

This is a cunning plan! How are you planning to pump out enough healing to pull this off?

  8. @Thatguy - in this match up I was playing Von Schtook, against @Scofferwith Zipp. The Strat was Corrupted Leylines.

As he's said, he did have a bit of luck, but I also made some silly moves (still a fairly newish player).

I think in this game I could have played for denial more - I went quite aggressive turn 1, but didn't actually manage to land successfully co-ordinated attacks; he always slipped through my fingers! With Transmortis ability to cover huge distance in one turn, I could have done a bit more waiting for him to come to me - then leaping on over-extended models or slipping past him score the strat.

It was a close game, 7 v 5 to Zipp, so I didn't do too badly - but definitely felt like I didn't have a handle on things.

  9. What goes through your head when you're looking at a Strat/Scheme pool and deciding your Master?

I current play Schtook and Reva - but I don't really have a clear idea of when Reva might be a better choice than Schtook. Then, to add to that, I'd like to choose a 3rd Master that might fill in a blind spot - but I find it hard to distill what makes logical sense in choosing one Master over another.

Any thoughts, processes, or tips welcome!

  10. Cheers for this. It's interesting what you say about Toshiro. I had certainly been considering him, to create bit of a tarpit, but you're right that he's quite card hungry. I'd also been thinking about the Emissary as setting himself up as a turret.

I like your list, but I've found corpse gen a little superfluous, since it's easy to end up with a lot of cores passively. I struggle more with Burning generation, I find it hard to make sure there's enough for Reva to benefit from. I was thinking a slightly altered:

    • Reva + Corpse Candles
    • Dead Rider
    • Grave Golem
    • Bete Noire
    • Shieldbearer (+GST)
    • Bone pile
    • Cache: 6

I possibly been thinking Yin since after she swoops in for Catch and Release, she could go about assisting Strat scoring with her Bonus action. But she is harder to keep alive than Bete.

  11. Hey!

Being a very new player, I've rather jumped in the deep end with December's tournament.

I've never played a round of Symbols of Authority before, and wondered if anyone had any thoughts, tips, and things to look out for?

    Edit: Posted to early.

I'm likely to be taking either Reva or Von Schtook.

    Strat: Symbols of Authority
Schemes: Vendetta, Claim Jump, Catch & Release, Let Them Bleed, Research Mission.
    Deployment: Standard.

  12. Runic Binding is a nice one to see in a pool with Leave Your Mark or Claim Jump, provides a good counter scheme if you think your opponent will hold the center.

I have entirely steered away from Sabotage so far, just can envision pulling it off. However, now I'm beginning to try out more schemey crews like Von Schtook that may change.

Spread Them Out is one that I always think I'll manage, but I tend to get distracted by brawling! With crews like Reva, I feel like every AP counts, and I often don't find the time to drops Scheme Markers. But, ideally, with Dead Rider, Emmisary, and Reva, I feel like you should have the mobility to pull this one off.

Similar with Breakthrough, particularly having tried Von Schtook - seems like something you can setup with an Undergrad/Necropunk fairly easily.
