  1. @Franchute really appreciate how much you put into running this years and for chasing us up when we haven’t been in touch. It really has kept me getting paint on minis and seeing everyone’s work has kept me motivated.

I would definitely be up for entering next years @Caedrus happy to post in another post if you start one up, but will pledge for Master level at the moment (Have 12 unpainted masters so that is likely my goal next year).

  2. My December pledge

    41-ACFD77-714-A-4-E76-AE6-B-85-BC408-C6-

I tried wet blending Mah dress and even though I had fun, it was really hard. I’ve only been doing thin glaze layers on the Kentauroi(sp?) and enjoying it immensely even if it is taking hours.

I’m unsure about the horse body...should I try to be interesting and do a zebra, tiger, leopard coat...or stick to a nice dark brown mane...?

  3. With 18 hours to go before I need to pack it in the car to take to UK Nationals....

    2603-C96-D-B87-B-459-F-8-C75-04561-C8-A0

I still need to get all the black painted on the edge of the board and the river is still wet resin..... and I haven’t finished all the planks for the bridges yet...

Overall I’m happy but feel it’s missing something

  4. Not quite on track but not far off, steps 1-4 below

    D2-C3-B2-F6-FBE8-47-E8-964-C-70-AD1-E937

and I’m working on step 5 now

    DDB80741-F124-49-B3-A582-75-BA90198-C73.

Ill get the boards done tonight and tomorrow evening I’ll get them onto the board with some tufts and shrubs.

Will probably also put a thin layer in the pond and river of water effects just to get it started

  5. Seriously running out of time for this, esp as need water effect resin setting time of 2-3 days and board needs transporting in 6 days time...

    F8-BDF5-BA-86-AC-4716-A147-80-BEB28-E365

    I still have to;

    1. sand down the side and paint black

    2. Sand down lumps on board (I had smooth pollyfilla to join cork boards but felt I need to add more to create texture- but now I wish I hadn’t and will need to sand if down before more coats of paint)

    3. 2 more coats of paint on the board

    4. Severe highlights on board as it’s just too dark as is

    5. planks on board and for river/pond crossing to be built, painted, stuck on board

    6. Foliage and tufts to be added

    7. Final highlights

    8. Water effects

    9. Review - potentially to add some grass to the board if overall it’s still too dark

I really do need to get to step 4 today and working on the planks this evening to then by end of tomorrow to be onto step 8 with first layer of resin going down.

If that goes to plan, I should be finished late Wednesday/Thursday and ready to load in car on Friday.

  6. Thanks both for the feedback.

Taking both comments into account I have dropped the river in the middle but going for one in a corner (giving enough space for corner deployment) and one coming in from the side and a permanent pond

    F8921874-D21-E-40-AA-AA15-596-D1-AFB7162

Ive run out of PVA and almost out of pollyfilla already.

Painting this thing is going to be a pain, plus adding texture....

  7. Have laid out scenery and then painted a rough idea where I’d put a stream

    974-B7-B8-D-FB55-412-C-8-AEC-E02-FEC5294

No longer sure about the stream as it takes up a lot of space and limits space for the terrain

I’ll get the polyfilla finished and put some cork down and try terrain in different layouts before committing to carving out a stream or not

  8. I have PVA and tacked the sides on, 36’’ by 36’’ play area

    5981-D952-2-C35-443-F-89-E0-92-FB5942784

will poly filla the gaps tomorrow morning and pencil outline where things will go and where to create a stream. I also need to buy some more cork tiles to raise the inside of the play area and enable deep groove for the stream.

This should all be done and dried by Thursday and I can paint it all black and the brown on Friday, leaving me next weekend to paint it all and then 4 days for the stream resin to cure. Wow, that is cutting it close to Nationals.

  9. Hi,

Thanks, I think I’m going to make a small stream in one corner, potentially across the middle, unsure yet.

Ill get some paint on the board and redo the terrain with a bit less in deployment and hopefully it will look a bit better.

I only have two weeks yesterday to get it done and little one birthday party tomorrow and relatives staying over so this is going to be rushed...

  10. I’ve picked up the board today.

    18mm thick

38’’ by 38’’ and I also have 1’’ wide 18’’ thick strips to go round the outside

    030-AC07-F-AEF8-44-E5-90-FC-350-C7-AA4-A

A bit concerned I may need more terrain making as slightly sparse in places in a quick place of scenery.

Too little terrain? Too much? About right?

  11. Last shack is almost complete

    7-FB45880-D8-FE-429-B-9-BF5-3-BA49442-A9

and more importantly the board has been ordered from a local wood merchant.

I can only get 39-40’’ in the car so have ordered a 38’’x38’’ and a 1’’ wide strip to put around the edge so I can add depth into the board. Should have it by the weekend for some frantic building and painting in time for Nationals

Ophelia and Whisky Golem are progressing nicely

    216956-D9-4-F2-E-4-B6-E-9-BFD-57-CA59-C2

Ive also finished 6 pieces of terrain (but scatter) so will just count them for 15ss total

Will post them and total ss toward end of month

Quite happy with things but really need to get more together and base painted in preparation for Nationals
