  1. Thanks for all the advice! I've grabbed some Archers mainly because of the theming side of things. And I take the point that you should maximize strength but I'm really only playing for fun and am a fan if balance in gaming. So I'll try the archers and then maybe grab a pathfinder. And then since Lazarus seems so popular might try him out as well. All of which will postpone my next crew selection...
  2. Yeah I've found that picking off a key node for the spell arc is central to controlling how much damage I take. Hadn't thought about Convict Gunslinger, wasn't there a thread saying that with the new Samurai upgrades it was better in just about every way? That not the case?
  3. Greeting Malifolks I'm running a standard Mei list at the moment (Kang, Rail Workers, Willie) in my regular games with my wife (Rasputina). I want to add some mobility and range to it and have settled on Tengu as the mobility and/or scheme control models. However I am less certain on what to bring in as a ranged option. I feel the models with melee options (Samurai, Dawn Serpent, Katanaka etc.) are kind of overkill as Mei plus Kang and crew can usually handle that side of things. Which leaves me with the 'pure' shooters 10T Archers and maybe Guild Pathfinder (I totally love this model incidentally)? Any ideas? Or am I being overly hasty in discounting a melee capable option? Cheers
  4. Welcome to the gang, my wife and I just got into Malifaux as well and as we only play between ourselves faced exactly this problem! We grabbed some 4ground stuff which is great and cheap and fun to put together, some scatter terrain from http://www.tinyworlds.co.uk/, and then these guys who I would totally recommend: www.tablescape.co.uk. Next step, building a collapsible gaming table! If you do use the Terraclips stuff let me know how it works out, I've been looking at the Ruins set.
  5. As a board gamer with boxes and boxes of (relatively neatly and accessibly) stored tokens, cubes and counters of various colours this has not turned out to be an issue for me. Although I'm soooo close to pulling the trigger on some Litko flame tokens as burning counters for my Mei crew.
  6. I've found them all useful Gmort, it's definitely informed my buying choices. My only suggestion would be to add your opinion on gaps and green stuffing. Which is probably because it's my least favourite part of model prep!
  7. We're board gamers more broadly, Puppet Wars was our gateway drug into Malifaux... We'll stick with playing just it while we're having so much fun.
  8. Cheers Evil, perfect advice. I don't have the Golem as yet but regardless I'll try that out and see if I can't crack into her golem and gamin more effectively. Oh and I'm pretty sure she's scheming over in the Arcanists threads so I'm not that fussed. That and she hands me my arse in almost every game we play, I've almost retired my Netrunner decks from game night more than once!
  9. Hi Malifolks I exclusively play Malifaux with my wife. We both started with box sets (me Mei Feng and her Rasputina) and are now at the stage where we are looking at adding to our respective teams. The one thing I seem to have had the most trouble with so far up against her crew is cracking armour, especially on the golem. What are the best options in TT for making armour less of a PITA. I'm thinking Willie as he adds some ranged threat as well as some scheme marker control but would take any suggestions. Cheers dears.
  10. Hmn vinyl tiles are definitely an option given they're already at size, little bit go spray adhesive and boom. Thanks for the tips all.
  11. Hey hey I've got a 3x3 gaming board I use for x-wing, so it's covered in black felt. While it doesn't bother me toooo much, for Malifaux I was looking to get some sort of terrain tile I could just lay over the felt to get something a little more in the mood. The current thinking is grab some foamcore and mount some of the Dave Graffam terrain tiles on them, making up 9 1' square boards to give it some modularity, and allow me to store them easily enough. But before I do, any bright ideas? We generally play a rural version of Malifaux rather than city and streets so green, desert, badlands theme is kind of what I am angling for. Cheers dears.
