  1. This is exactly what we did. All yall are my "taking it up later" with the community at large.
  2. Well, I've convinced one, but judging by the "-1"'s on my posts, I'm not convincing the player base as a whole! Haha!
  3. This is an excellent point which both of us playing missed but I'm not sure it changes anything. He climbs down 2" (with his walk of 5) and takes 5 wounds of falling damage dropping off the last 5" of the tower. Still lands in the exact same spot as if he had just jumped from the top in the first place. There seems to be some equivocating between "making the move" and "planning the move." The rule just says move the model it's walk and end up as close as possible to the Belle. The walk move cannot end closer to the bell than the base of the tower. While I understand the top down measurement, if I move it's walk by falling, it ends at the base of the tower because he dies. If I move it his climb and then a fall, he lands in exactly the same spot he would have ended up had he fallen, so the fall doesn't get him any closer. Either way, he's moved his walk and ended as close as he can. And while Lure doesn't say "avoid hazards" it also doesn't say "mindlessly jump to your death." Climbing down is a legitimate "Move." I don't know what about Lure would preclude the trapper from doing that.
  4. In this scenario, it doesn't get you any closer at all. Falling leads to the model being dead at the base of the tower. Climbing down 5" and dropping the remaining 2" gets you to the exact same spot.
  5. Absolutely nothing. If the fall were survivable, there's no doubt he would jump, nearly die, but continue on. And conversely, if the tower were unclimbable, there's no doubt he would jump to his death. But in this scenario, the fall is certain death and the tower is climbable. Which means technically, the base of the tower is as close as the model can get whether it jumps to it's doom, or whether it climbs down. There are two choices, both of them get him to the exact same spot. What about the lure means he should pick certain death over not dying?
  6. Well, that's the crux of the question isn't it, do you consider the death location or not. I mean, technically, the model ends no closer whether it climbs 5 inches and drops off the last 2 inches of tower or whether it jumps straight away and is killed at the base. The lure doesn't say "plan to move" it. It says move the model it's walk, and the model must end as close as possible to the Belle. The base of the tower is as close as is possible for the model to end up, either way - either it's exhausts it's movement to get there, or it dies there.
  7. So an interesting scenario cropped up in a game a couple of nights ago. I've dug around looking at FAQ's and other threads, but haven't yet found a complete answer. A Freikorps Trapper was on the edge of the front edge on top of a Ht 7 tower with a ladder down the center of the tower. A demure and sweet Rotten Belle, with what can only be assumed to be good intentions, lured that Trapper. So right away, it's obvious that he doesn't go down the ladder. Standing at the front would require him to move away and end up further away (as his move 5 would end up on the ladder at the center of the tower's footprint.) So assuming the tower is climbable, there are two remaining options. A.) The Trapper climbs down the side of the tower or B.) The Trapper leaps off the tower to his death. The FAQ clearly allows for B if the tower isn't climbable. However, if the tower itself is climbable, will the Trapper abandon his suicidal thoughts and climb down (dropping the final 2" presumably to end up closer)? The idea being that ending up at the bottom of the tower alive is actually ending up closer than the swan dive that ends in death. Or will he not count the falling distance in his calculation and plan on ending 5" in front of the tower after the fall, only to find gravity is a cruel mistress? Thanks yall! James.
  8. Those look great. I also have come from WHFB/Adepticon and depending upon your army, a display board was almost necessary just to move around in a timely manner. But they also evolved into an almost expectation as part of your "painting" score. Just wanted to be sure that was or was not an expectation as I head towards my first Malifaux tournament.
  9. Love the Pandora's box idea! I suppose one way to get around putting an entire faction on it would be to include only masters, henchmen and perhaps enforcer models. Those tend to be the showcase models anyway. But I get the impression its just not really something that's done, eh.
  10. Hey Gang, Do people make/take Display Boards for Malifaux tournaments? If you do, do you put your entire faction on the board? Something seems odd about that.
  11. Any word on Schemes, Strats and deployments since GG 2016 is looking like at least a couple weeks away?
  12. Can I recommend that you remove "email address" from the log in then? This has caused a fair bit of frustration to me as well.
  13. Completely missed the 1" rule! That clears everything right up. Thanks again for the help!
  14. Hey gang, The more I play Malifaux, the more I enjoy the game. In part, because the rule set is so clearly defined and well written. Which leads me to the following question which came up in a game last night. A Death Marshal was adjacent to a short Ht 1 wall, firing over it at some Wicked Dolls five or six inches away. Do the dolls technically get cover because of the wall is between the bases of the marshal and the dolls? Does cover not apply because he's Ht 2 and within 2 inches of the wall (did I make that rule up? I can't seem to find it.) Thanks for yall's help in advance, and my apologies if things are spelled out somewhere and I just couldn't find it! James.
  15. Thanks for the quick reply. Wouldn't you know it, I found exactly the info in the book I had somehow missed on the first run right after I posted this! But thanks again, anyway.
  16. Hey yall, Finally took the leap and jumped into the game. Devoured the small rulebook last night, but I have what I think may be a no brainer question, but I thought I'd ask anyway just to be clear before I start getting into games. When you are building your crew do you have all models from that faction available to you (all other things being equal and restrictions aside?) For instance, if I take Marcus as a master, can I have a Railworker or a December Acolyte in my crew? I'm not saying I want to, I'm just trying to understand what exactly the rules are for crew construction. Thanks in advance for the help!
