  1. Hey guys! I just wanted to post a link here for anyone who might be interested in a Kickstarter. It's...well...OK it's ponies. But these are EVIL PONIES! Slap Miniatures created and successfully funded a Kickstarter last year for a series of 28mm pewter cartoon ponies. I actually backed this one and I can confirm that the minis are awesome, everything was received on time and the guy running the KS came across as genuinely enthused about the project. Anyway, the follow up Kickstarter has gone live and the minis are looking pretty cool this time arouns too. There's only one actual WiP sculpt at the moment, but more are imminent. There's also an option to pledge for the first series of ponies if any of them grab your interest. These are an excellent range of minis and they might be a perfect way to introduce a young tabletop gamer to painting minis https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1835446295/the-evil-ponies-evil-ponies-for-table-top-gaming?ref=category
  2. One more finished mini: I was really pleased with this one - the angle of the rope isn't exactly right but I think he looks pretty gribbly!
  3. I saw these guys at Salute today with some concept art, a few painted and unpainted minis and a prototype of the game board. I'm so sold on this it's not even funny! They were really enthusiastic about their product, had lots of plans for future expansions and were looking into ways to incorporate RPG and skirmish game elements into the project at some time in the future. And the minis were GORGEOUS.
  4. Yeah but Som'er's hat has FEATHERS in it. So clearly he's the boss. And he has medals on his hat.
  5. So a couple more finished Malifaux minis for the count:
  6. I honestly think it can be read either way. The fact that Rough Riders specifies "This Attack Action gains a + to the Attack Flip" and With My Eyes Closed just says "For the rest of this model's activation, it's Sh Attack Actions gain +" without being specific. So I think potentially either way could be right.
  7. Gremlin rule, Ressers drool! I already have Ophelia and Som'er in metal so while I am not planning to pick up the plastics right away, I am as keen as everyone else to see the plastics in all their drunken glory. My plastic love (and my money) are for now reserved for Mah
  8. My first ever minis were some old metal Dark Elves my partner had when he was a kid. They were less than stellar! My first Malifaux mini I painted was this charming fella:
  9. Bumping this - PM was sent regarding 2 minis
  10. So I'm bumping this for a bit of advice. I'm currently working on Vanessa and I wanted to get some ideas on how to paint her magic effect. In the artwork it looks like it's white where it's emerging from the staff and then getting darker. My thought was to paint the whole thing white, and then paint it the same way you paint fire; white and then work outwards getting darker as I go. But any suggestions are welcome! A few more pics:
  11. When I did my Malifaux piglets I went with a mix of Kislev Flesh and Rakarth Flesh to get a pinky brown colour. Then a coat of two of thinned down Army Painter Soft Tone which gave them a nice brown look, but the pink just made it look more "skin" coloured. For the tips of the snouts and insides of the ears I went with Bugman's Glow.
  12. I had a positive trade experience with Nicodem on here. Good communication and very fast posting. Models were packed nicely too. Recommended!
  13. You can add images to posts - try uploading them to a site like Photobucket and then copy pasting the IMG link into your post. I'm not the most techy person but that's how I link my images.
  14. Thanks again for the kind words! So next on the painting table, while I was still in the right mindset, were Ophelia and crew: The lady herself Rami and his ballast piglet Francois, the coolest gremlin to ever wear a hat Raphael, the Bayou's Most Wanted And finally Pere Ravage and his amazing explosding piggies I did some Young LaCroix as well but I need to re-do the pics on them!
  15. I like "Ooo a girl!" for funniest name. But for funniest moment - I think it was a Bayou Gremlin smacking Vik of Ashes in the face with a banjo. I laughed so hard at that.
  16. I'm guessing it's Merris LaCroix as I recall she had the Flight ability on her card.
  17. Very much enjoyed the new issue - and sneaky artwork on the back cover!
  18. Oh! I also forgot to post pictures of my awesome Christmas present from a friend of mine. I've made myself a swamp "board" to play my Gremlins on: I need a mat to go under it, but for now that is what I play on. So my friend decided I needed a big centrepiece for my swamp: He's left it to me to choose a paint scheme so that'll need some thinking about. Some details: Any suggestions for painting it up are gratefully received!
  19. A few more random gremlins: I'm currently working on some werewolves for a mate and this was the first one I finished:
  20. That's the good thing I like about the Outcasts - there's no overall "theme" for the faction. You've got a Steampunk Necromancer, a pair of mercenary sisters, a military operation, a living spirit of plague and death, the Herald of Obliteration, a dead, hanged man and an assassin. Whereas the Guild are law & order, the Ressers are undead and necromancy, the Arcanists are magic users, the Neverborn are the monsters, Ten Thunders are the ninja clan and the Gremlins are....well, the Gremlins. The Outcasts are kind of the bits that don't fit anywhere else, which is nice.
  21. Glad you managed to get a good deal. Chiming in a bit late but I agree with all the others who say to just pick the models you like and that seem to click with you. I started off playing Viks (because hey, swords and guns!) and worked my way through most of the Outcast masters (I don't have a problem, I can stop anytime I like) but I spend most time now playing Gremlins. Being a short female I have a natural affinity with little angry things that attack kneecaps.
  22. Yep Dark Sphere are awesome. They're not close enough for me to get there regularly (no job means travel costs need to be kept to a minimum) but I love the new location.
  23. Thank you all for the suggestions! The ones on Ebob would be perfect if you didn't have to buy the licence with them sadly. Fenton, those do look pretty good! I'll send him the link over. Again thanks all for the help.
  24. Hee hee hee I never thought of the NiN song. Might have to make it a theme song for So'mer Speaking of So'mer: I absolutely cannot take credit for the paint job on this guy - I bought him on EBay along with the rest of the crew. I've tried (rather unsuccessfully) to match my painting to this standard. One day.... So the Bayou Gremlins were the smallest minis I had painted up until that point and they kind of make me cringe a bit now, I can see so many things I can do better. But I'm leaving them as they are - it's kind of fun in a way to compare later models and see how I got better as I learned new techniques
