  1. I've run a similar list before and it worked OK. three archers is a bit much and they tend to get targeted pretty early (and go down quickly). They can lay the hurt on though.
  2. I would add that you might not want to buy TT Archers unless you are ready to frustrate yourself. Building (and storing) those models is a major PITA.
  3. Step 1: Acquire Hobby Knife & female model Step 2: Shave off teets of female model with said hobby knife acquired in Step 1. Step 3: Profit. Optional Steps Step 4: Acquire greenstuff Step 5: using greenstuff acquired in step 4, sculpt bulge on previously female model's pants (in crotchal region) Step 6: Profit some more.
  4. Considering that the "magic rock" was called "Wyrdstone" it seems like is 100% "directly influenced" by Mordheim.
  5. I was thinking that we may need one of those chess timers, lol.
  6. I've played 4 games so far - 3 with Yan Lo and 1 with Misaki. My first game was me and another first timer playing our first game, so I don't count that, but the rest of my games are probably averaging close to 3 hours for a 25-35 SS battle. This seems way too long for a game where each player has less than 10 models on the table. My first 2 games were against Kirai, so I guess you can get lots of models on the table with her. I played my biggest game against Seamus, and then my last game I gave someone an intro (he was playing pandora). Any tips to get games moving faster? I was under the impression that this was a 45min-1.5 hour game on average. What am I doing wrong?
  7. Looks amazing so far. Good job.
  8. I play ten thunders, so the only metal models I currently have are the ten thunder brothers. They do slide around a bit. I just put them near the bottom & put them in contact with another plastic mini to keep them secure. I could glue a second magnet to the bottom, but that would probably be overkill.
  9. Yeah, seriously. I really didn't want to do it, but I liked the rules so much, that I kind of had to.
  10. I had to buy a second box because I ruined the first box so badly.
  11. Have you tried this with Malifaux's plastics? I find that they are much more brittle than the plastics of other companies. I would not want to pack mine in foam.
  12. Or when Malifaux is bigger than Warhammer, it will be worth $7,000 dollars. Yes - $7,000 exactly.
  13. Gorilla Glue + Rare earth magnets + Cheap sheet metal + cheap box = malifaux case Glue rare earth magnets to the base, glue sheet metal to insides of case... done!
  14. OK cool. I haven't checked that out yet. I play at Dropzone in Glen Burnie.
  15. I really appreciate the complements/comments. I do enjoy painting quite a bit, and I do hope that 10 years from now I can have the skills to be considered a top-notch painter. As such, I'm always trying out new things. With both Yan Lo and Chiaki, my main goal was to try out some object source lighting. While I think Chiaki's dress does look pretty decent, I would like to give it another shot to see if I can get it to look like I really want it to. I know I won't get it perfect, but I at least want to give it 1 more shot. I was not 100% happy with Yan Lo's OSL glow either, but I like it enough to keep it. I think if I can improve chiaki's dress a bit more, I can make it look really striking. I think if just stick with the lighter purples (and not make it extend too far up) that will improve it a lot. We will see though. Right now, I'm trying to finish my other 2 ashigaru. I tend to jump around on models a lot. I generally tend to have lots of 50-75% complete models, lol. I get bored, then switch to something else.
  16. Thanks. I may stick with purple - I'm probably just going to try and make it more subdued.
  17. Thanks for the compliments. Unfortunately, I am going to start over on Chiaki. In person, the Purple lighting on her dress looks more like it's been dyed rather than actual lighting (almost like its soaking up a bunch of purple dye that she's standing in).
  18. Here are some pics of my Ten Thunders WIP. Yan Lo is my first real attempt at OSL, so I'm OK with out it turned out. I need to clean up his base a bit. Also Ive included a pic of my 1 completed Ashigaru and my entire 10T crew in progress. For good measure, I've also included the case I built to carry my models.
  19. If you ever feel like making your way out to MD for a game, check out Dropzone in Glen Burnie. It's an amazing location.
  20. Where do you play at? I live in the Baltimore area. If you are interested in a game, hit me up.
  21. I've only play him as 10 thunders, as those are the only models I have. IMO, his one scheme is going to be fairly hard to achieve unless you have a bigger game going (and hence more ancestors). I've played him with archers. I have very little experience, but the archers are nice, as they can really pour on some damage. I played him with some Ten Thunders brothers once too, but they didn't really do anything. I haven't tried him with Ototo or the torakage yet.
  22. I generally prefer plastic to metal. I come from playing almost exclusively GW games, and aside from a couple of their models (namely the Thundertusk), I have never had an issue with model frailty like I have with Malifaux plastics. Hell, in some cases (like Izamu's flags) if you clip the wrong contact point first, it will apply a slight amount of torque to a thin piece and cause it to snap. My fingernail caught Yan Lo's staff and it went flying off into infinity. I replaced it with a straightened paperclip. It looks just fine now. The only way I can comfortably store these models is to do magnetize the bases and put them in a metal box. Storing them in foam would likely mean multiple broken models. It would be one thing if this were an issue with a few models, but it seems to be prevalent in a lot of the different boxes (TT Archers, Masters of the Path, Ten Thunders box, etc.). I am guessing it's just growing pains, and hopefully it will get better. And for those saying "you don't know how to take it off the sprue" well, I've been playing miniature games since around 1995. I think I know how to remove plastic from the sprue. In this case, I've never had so many different models and pieces break as I have with these Malifaux sets.
  23. Ten thunders archers kit. Horrible. The ashigaru I have managed to keep together, but any of those new plastic kits with fiddly little parts are just horrible. HORRIBLE.
  24. It depends on your local recycling vendor. Mine says "we take any type of plastic" while others are limited to specific types of plastics. Call your local waste management provider.
