  1. @RebeccaJo cheers for the green stuff ideas. I shall give it a shot, along with the thread, to see what effects I get ... once I have defrosted some. Getting fed up of this now. Why can't it just go and stay gone. It is meant to be spring over here lol but I never seem to have much luck with GreenStuff annoyingly. But hey, I'll give it a shot and post results up here.
  2. I shall order some today. And going to try to paint bases separately to the models, then combine them. To get the full detail onto the bases. That is what I will do with the bamboo floor base, as going to work off on white (And grey for Wong) to get a good colour. also trout about getting some thick thread off my mom, she sews. To glue around he end of the bamboos as if they were tied together, follow? I shall put picture up once I finished them. @RebeccaJo Bangers and mash is great, and simple. It is sausage and mash potato. Bangers being the sausage, and mash obviously the mashed potato. Goes great with baked beans, mushy peas, proper gravy. Should try it sometime, I sure you'll like it it. Made me think back to when I was a kid and I would have what I called a volcano, which was mash in the middle of plate, sausages/bangers stuck in it, covered in beans and ketchup lol
  3. @RebeccaJo thanks for the tooth pick idea. I shall head down to Sainsburys tomorrow to get a pack. Or just feel ones I seen in kitchen just now as the potatoes boil for bangers and mash lol most of this hobby malarkey is just so simple lol cheers again. I shall make some up after I cooked and ate. I don't usually have the patience to make proper bases like you described, green stuff bits land stuffs with sand. So I was thinking buying these industrial'esque bases - what do you think? For my Vikki's crew. And when I get the guy with big claw hands you know the guy executioner is it? I shall get bigger set of this bases for him for my Ortega crew hehe
  4. So I bought Wong last weekend, and built him today. The wrists are so small. Bt on the up side he has less pieces that Burt. But what style base to our him on? As my Gremerins are on swamp bases, apart from my LaCroix family whom are on the Ghost Town bases - obviously. So to go along those lines, I have thought about putting Wong on an Oriental base ... but ... to buy one from an albeit great online store (Fenris Games - Their eBay store) I will only need one - because as of at the moment I am trying - the key word there is trying - to not get too much Malifaux ashardly any is painted ... so far it not really working lol So as I am not thinking of buying a set of bases and only using one. Any one here got ideas of how to make an Oriental style base? Speaking of bases, what style bases would you put The Viktoria's box-set on? Apart from the dude with big hammer, whom has a base insert. Bt the others, what style base would you lot suggest? I know they are not Gremerins, but they outcasts - close enough. And mainly bought them to paint up the Vikki's for friend who said she liked my painting and wanted one, and she picked her. Although may have a little play with them first lol
  5. Hey all Just thought I would add a little post here to big up my mates blog they have started If you like all things hobby -and enjoy saying a tongue twister - head this way ... The Hobbynomicon!! Or as I say it ... Hobbynominom.com Close enough But if you like all things Hobby take a look They have got some great ideas for the future for it Go take a look fellow Gremerins :-) *** SIDE NOTE *** Anyone got any good dieas how to get the Vikki's from Birmingham, to London (UK) via post, with out the arms falling off? As I hear they tend to like falling off :-( *** END NOTE ***
  6. Hey all Not been on here in a while, well just over a week, but seems longer. But I not done any real hobby for a while. But went down my FLG store hoping for a game. And managed to get one. Played against a Neverborn crew with Lilith as the master. Never played against her before, but heard of her to be pretty hard. But ... no pot'belly like our dear Ophelia. Anyway, I digress as usual. IT was his first game, but her had read the rulebooks, just wanted to put it into practice. Here how the crews lined up. Mine, for once, was slightly different ... Gremerins Ophelia The LaCroix Family Burt Jebson - with his Gun O'many-barrels Bayou Gremlins x2 McTavish Neverborns Lilith Tuco Lilu & Lileth (The demon twins) Terror Tots x4 The board setup was sewers fair bit of terrain, but down one side. Opponent wish there was ore in the middle, as we were playing shared Destroy the Evidence, and two of each others objectives were on the centre line, plus the shared on right in the centre. The set-up was standard 6" from the edge, so I lined up my gun line, while sending Pere off down the flank ... hoping he won't, for once, blow up too early amongst my forces. Which he didn't ... but he didnt do a great deal all. I thought I would be out of range for Tuco to do anything, I was wrong as he got shot. Then Lilith came dancing forward and slices his head off through the wall. But hey, least he didn't damage my guys ... right? Andy's, my opponent, Terror Tots sprinted forward while the deamon twins hung back, waiting to pounce. McTavish moved forwards was hoping to take a shot at the Lilu, only to find out he has regenerate. So he took one shot, and decide againt Reckless'ing to gain a second shot. Damn demons and their powers hey, it is just plain simple cheating!! Lilith stayed in the room, on the other side of the wall where the crate of the once PEre was. And the Terror Tot that was there moved forwards into the open. Raphael moved up along side McTavish hoping to get to destroy our evidence and either hold fast to deflect away a Terror Tot or 'PEG IT!'. Sadly he did niether as the Terror Tot was on him and next turn had to have a hand from Burtie to defeat the little tyke, while Rami sniped away the one behind it. Then McTavish was sliced apart from the Demon Lilu, before he charged forward into my gun line, wounding Ophelia but not enough to slay her. Then this is where I learnt how Companioning works proper. As I initially thought it was you could only companion between two models. But apparently you can companion as many models as there are within 6" ... well that was good, as next turn EVERYTHING companioned. And basically shot to pieces the demon Lilu and sliced apart the Terror Tot. Luckily, after Lilu was dead, I still had some shooting left. And was able to just see Lileth (The twin sister demon) and so Rami stepped up and took two shots at the beast - as sadly he was down to one wound (I have ordered a box of Slop Haulers now though to help my Reckless'ing). And then the two Bayou Gremlins mvoed up and took shots. I managed to get her down to one wound, but sadly not dead. So I though, right she will heal some wounds and lose some. Next turn I pounce and HAHA I win, hopefully ... but sadly, that was not the case. As Lilith moved back to Lileth, 'bought' some blood counters, sacrificed a Terror Tot and summond Lilu back. And with their combined power both the twins were either at full or practically on full wounds. I was not a very happy Gremerin. And after that point I was just trying to kill something before I called it a day, as there was no chance of coming back from that. But hey, was a fun game enjoyed by us both. But I, well we, did 'win' something. The LONGEST first turn EVER at our store ... which was about coming onto 2-hours long. And the game lasted about 3-hours in total!! But as I said was a good fun game, but annoyingly I forgot to take camera to take snaps ... next time I shall, try and remember. Bye for now guys & girls
  7. Just spotted your post on the main page Your 'spirit thingo' look amazing!!!
  8. Hey all I feel the need to thank greenstuff_gav on this thread as I have done on PM. That is becuase he kindly posted me the model off a Gremerin Trooper. Here is the WIP link he posted the other week; Gremerin Trooper WIP This came about after our convosation span off from the Ophelia Deathstar tactic, onto which Gremerin would be which Star Wars character. I may feel the need during lunch break next week to compile a list of whom I think should be whom. So thanks again greenstuff_gav, I hope I can paint him up good enough for the time and effort you must of put into creating it. Especially as I never confident painting white. But I shall keep you lot updated, when I get time to paint that is.
  9. My fingers were fine ... but ended up getting tissue glued to finger tip after wiping the glue tip clear. But I did nearly lose hiw upper jaw/head. WAsn't good. It hit the floor, and as I Got laminent flooring could of gone anywhere but luckly stuck under/by foot. I also found I had to file a slight, very slight, amount off his hair to fit between his ears, and even then was a close fit. But in the end, he is a lovely model. And I cannot wait for him to be blasting away :-)
  10. Thank you Omenbringer I shall be spray painting Pere over the weekend some time. That is if it gets any warmer. I don't like spraying models in the cold. Especially if it cold enough to see your breath ... Damn British weather lol
  11. @D-A-C Thanks for your input, I may look into that list, mianly you say quick. As I got Gremlins on the go. And don't get much time or (With work) drive to paint. So will definately look into it. Plus it gives me variety from Gremlins, which can't be a bad thing. And just looked at the Pale Rider model on the store. Looks lovely :-) And Papa Loco looks fun ... I obviously use Pere for my Gremlins and just fun if anything else ... although wih my bad flips never explodes with the force I wanna see ... one day, one day. Mainly becuase I keep forgetting his spell, oh well lol
  12. Cheers ... the skin is good. Just ignore the eyes (Thank god for his hat lol) I glued together little Burt Jebsen ... the little bugger. For one small Gremerin he has 10 pieces. I pretty sure that about the same amount of seperate peices (Bodies and extras) you get in the Ophelia box-set - give or take. But he looks good hehe but to me his gun shall be called Gun o'Many Barrels - something gonna get hit @Greenstuff_gav By any chance is that a Storm Gremerin? :-P *** SIDE NOTE *** Just noticed I have been thanked. Anyone know where I can see where I been thanked?? *** END NOTE *** Also ... pleased people actually still read this. Was getting worried when was post after posrt made ... myself lol
  13. Hey all I have finally got some better pictures up on here with an actual camera and not the iPad. So hopefully the quality will be better. Let us know what you think. (That is once photobucket does what it is told and uploads the photos to the correct album ... AARRGGGGHHHH!!) Again, click on the thumbnails to view in full size ... Also before I start ... the face could be better. I hate doing faces, well the eyes :-( Message/reply with any links that aren't as they should be ... Here are front shots of McTavish and his Crocodil. I am very pleased with how the dungerees turned out. And his shirt, considering the white, before I washed it down turned out okay as I hate doing white. but the Army Builder grey spray paint was nice to paint over. The yellow belly on the Crocodil didn't turn out how I really wanted it. But I think it a good contrast colour to the rest of the model ... you not gonna miss the Crocodil when he "Give her some slack!!" I like the scales on the rear/back of the crocodil though. With the extreme highlighting along the main one along the spine area. And I can't believe how good a steady hand I had when I did the back of McTavish. What with the shirt, dungerees and rifle going over each other. And here close up of the base. The tiles I feel went well, although I could of done some wet blending to make the highlights and shades smoother transsitionally. But I am VERY pleased with the swamp foliage. I followed a step-by-step guide, which I believe I posted a few posts above. But then added random dashes of variopus washes (Brown, sepia, black) to make it random. I am thinking of puttin a light coating of varnish, at least in some area, what do you think guys? Also on the last two pictures you can see the rifle butt the best. I put a light coat of varnish over it, to make it look like polished wood. As McTavish may live in the swamp, but his rifle would mean difference between life and death really ... well when Crocodil taking a nap hehe I don't think the pictures really show it. But the logs on the base I am pleased with. turned out a lot better than I thought. I did want the insides (Under the bark) a bit lighter, but overall I am pleased. I did the same technique that I used with the boards on Raphaels base, where I got a mixture/mixes of browns and streaked across it lightly to show the grain of the wood. Comments and critque all welcome ... *** SIDE NOTE *** I am thinking of buying the Viktoria box set for the sword master Viktoria for a friend. Who thinks the painting of my models pretty cool. And wouldn't mind one. And she picked the Viktoria with the twin swords. So I may slowly expand my outcast crew with Viktorias ... as well as guild crew with the Ortegas hehe *** END NOTE ***
  14. Had a game against the Ortega's last night people!! I shall write up a brief account soon ... as I yet again forgot to take my camera for a play-by-play'ish account. Next time I shall remember ... hopefully lol
  15. @Tuttleboy Cheers for the suggestion on the Gorila Glue super glue :-) I may have to look into it and see if it has travelled across the pond. There are a couple of model stores in town. Depends if I wanna trek across town in this weather :-\ @Pierowmaniac I believe the way I store the glue didn't help. As last time I used it it was late, after a long day, glueing together Perdita and her family, and then found it yesterday in my painting case. But hey ... you live and learn. And with the warm water trick, I unscrewed the main lid firstly before submerging it. As it is just the cap over the nozzel that is stuck fast. The freeze idea didn't seem to work either. So I think I ill take the idea off brib4169 and using a home-made applicator from a sewing needle. As the glue is usable. I'll just need to remember to wipe the needle clean else they'll be stuck some place I don't want it lol or look for a small empt bottle that it can go in. Try suspend it using a cork or rubber at other end I dunno. But will deffinatley look into the glue you suggested as there a Modelzone in town :-) And yeah, trying to open with teeth could be a bit iffy Thanks for the advice guys :-)
  16. Oops with the warm water. Although my mate mentioned warm water and time. Think I shall take it out and put in the free for a bit. I like the idea of the sewing needle (I shall steal one of my moms lol) so if I can't get the lid off, at least I can still use the glue on the inside with just unscrewing the knackered top on and off :-)
  17. I still need to upload a new, better picture of McTavish. Which I will hopefully do today, as it a sunny day ... for once. So should hopefully get a few good pictures :-) But i thought I'd just let you know , if any one still reads this, that my next painting project will be Pere Revage. My friend picked it out of the collection of models i still have to paint. I shall start it once I have got some white spray paint on Tuesday down mates hobby store. And I am hoping that due the pere's small size it should hopefully take less time ... maybe. But I got another busy week this week after work :-/
  18. Hey people ... I have a problem with my glue, as the subject suggests. As I have the Army Builder glue bottle with the pippet/spout. I have not used it for a while, and I came to use it this morning just, but the cap over the spout is stuck fast. And I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to remove the cap? I have unscrewed the lid and submerged it in warm water, as me and parents thought that may work. But currently it not coming apart. Any ideas here??? And also, any one know any good superglue which comes with a brush applicator (Like the GW superglue, but better lol). Annoying as the Army Builder glue is amazing. Thanks in advance people
  19. Hey all Well I finished MCTavish last night ... finally!! I am very pleased with how he turned out, so thought I would show you lot the finished article. Let us know what you think, al though the picture isn't the best one I could of got, as it was taken at about 10pm last night, on my dads iPad, at my painting station - so not the best picture. So I shall take a better one over the weekend don't worry. But I am pleased how the base has turned out. As I left that last, apart from a few little details, becuase I wasn't sure how it'll turn out. But it came out pretty well. Followed a simple plan on an old blog place I found ... Brush Thralls - Painting swamp bases ... but also added a few more highlights to get a mixture of colour. I also dabbed (Randomly) some sephia, brown and black wash over the swamp foliage to get a more natural and random look. The shirt I am very proud of, considering I hate painting white - even over a white basecoat spray. But getting the white over Army Builder grey spray, for me, was quite easily done. I think it helped that I was going to wash it down. So if a model I get where I want it to be more white and less grubby, I'll probably spray it over a white base coat ... I am thinking I shall for when I come to paint Pere. I put a light coating of 'ardcoat (Gloss varnish) over the butt of the rifle, to give it a polished wood effect. And I mixed in some medium with the varnish so it was thinned down some. As I said earlier I shall get a better picture up over the weekend sometime, I'll just edit this post. So do watch out for update ... But comments, critique, and any questions are always welcome about McTavish and his Crocodil ...
  20. Hey all I am asking this on behalf of a friend whom lives in Stuart Virgnia. And as you can see (If it shows) I am from the UK. And well I have emailed her a few pictures of my models and she is interested. And so was wondering if any of the Virginia collective is able to help me out? In suggesting stores in and around Stuart. Any and all suggestions will be great :-)
  21. Thanks for the clarification on the matter :-) it is good to know these things. And to summarise ... so I read it right ... If there is a chance, no matter how slim, that the model will receive no WDs or less than what he/she/it has then the trigger can go off. But if they will receive a fixed number of WDs no matter what and that fixed number will kill them, then it can not go off?? Not even for "giggles"?? lol
  22. Hey, i had a game of Malifaux a core of weeks ago. And I wasn't doing too well, had Ophelia and one Gremlin left against the ninja lady and granny from the Ten Thunders crew. And on what would be Ophelia's last activation before being sliced by one of the two women I flipped a RAM for my Cb flip in combat. And I wanted to use Calculated Luck (Double damage, take one wound). Now Ophelia was only on one wound. But I wanted to try taking her with me. But a guy watching our game said that I couldn't pull the trigger off if io ended up dying unless it states you can sacrifice this model. But a few days later chatting to another mate about it, he said I was able to do the trigger. So I would like clarification on this, as I am new, but I am thinking I can, else if a bayou Gremlin wouldn't be able to use Dumb Luck once it has lost a wound. In case he flips a high card doubling the Dg of 3 to 6. But clarification would be great :-) Thanks in advanc
  23. Well I have done some more to McTavish. I like how the underbelly of the Crocodil turned out :-) and was pretty simple. First did a coat of white mixed with bit of yellow, adding medium to help blend it. Then did a coat of white. And washed it with a mix of sepia with a hint of yellow and plenty of medium so it blended fine. And washed down the white, to get the yellow hue to the skin. What you think? The frogs at his waist are not finished, I am going to do them a bit duller, but have piercing yellow eyes. Like how I did with my Ork Bomber pilots spot on his chin ... My out up a picture of the bomber (Or as I call it Dakka-Dakka-Dakka Jet) let us know and I shall put some up :-) I bought it just to paint as do like the model. Right, I am off to bed. Up early tomorrow morning for opticians appointment. Then painting, as I not able to go to get to mates hobby store for any Malifaux/painting.
  24. I heard using So'mer is complicated, for new players at least. And it seems to be from just looking at his card. As you only have 5 in your control hand. I may talk to my mate/henchman when next down pub about him, see if he can help me. As then I can get some pigs and expand my Gremerins and have more variety in play. Apart from shuffle, stand and shoot lol oh and in Pere's case ... EXPLODE!! I Think i may paint So'mer next - after I have finished painting McTavish that is - even though I probably won't be using him for a while. Unless some of you can suggest another model to paint next :-) I am going to hopefully do some tonight while catching up on TV. I am hoping to get him-him done. As in all but the base, at least :-) ill be sure to post pictures. Now that I think I have got the correct links in the correct parts for the short cuts to bigger pictures. If only you could size the photos in thread it self with code be so much easier. Right off to paint to paint McTavish ... I'll be keeping my emails/thread open so should reply, if any one pop on to post.
  25. Well I had a game down the store on Sunday. Was playing a guys Colette, and her show girl, crew. Below is a VERY basic plan of the terraclip board we were playing on. I was going to do a play-by-play (Or as close as possible) but I don't have the time. Hopefully next time I will :-) But basically it was a chapel, and the outer edge (North, South & East walls) there was a raised canopy with stairs at the north and south. But were minaly made of rubble. We were playing a 35ss game, and the set up was standard, and was only 3" in due to the board being just a 2'x2' - TINY!! The passages around three of the walls was 3" in width. I forget the full missions/scheme, but I remember he had slaughter as one. And mine were to get near objective in his half, and to have more models in his deployment zone than him. And the crews were as follows ... Gremerins - My usual list really Opehlia & the LaCroix Family boxe set Bayou Gremlin x4 McTavish Colette Colette du Bois Angelica, Mistress of Ceremonies Casssandra Performer x2 Manikins x2 Johan I won the first flip for set-up. But opted for my opponent to set up first. I usually do, as still not sure of best set up like. And you still get the same chance to have first activation. He picked the top/north side to set up in, and his set up was as follows; - Johan & Cassandra in the North East corner on the upper level - A performer and manikin on the lower level but also in the North East corner - Colette dead centre, with Angelica, on the upper level - And finally the second performer and manikin at the entry to the Western upper level path Looking back, my set up was completely wrong, right from the puttin of my objective on the Western walk way, at the edge of oponents deployment zone but hey, here was my set up ... again looking back it was set up totally wrong in my head; - Rami and Pere were on the South Eastern upper level to hopefully counter the thread of Cassandra and then Johan - Raphael and two of the Bayou Gremerins on the lower level in the centre looking to counter the performer and her manikin - Ophelia, Francois, McTavish and the remaining two Bayou Gremerins up by the Western elevated walkway And know looking back I am kicking my self "Why did I spread out? Why why why?!?!" as I should of put the objective on the ground level and hoped opponent still wanted the upper level as much as he wanted and just hunkered down on the ground level shooting as much as I could ... but you live and learn hey? And to make it easier ... I won initiative flip EVERY TURN ... and yet didnt seem to capitalise on it lol TURN #1 And I learnt something else also, which was Cassandra is an annoying lady that wont die!!! Opponenet had like 7 soul stones left once we got down to playing. And my first target ... after her 6" push thingy ... was Cassandra. So Rami and Pere companioned together. Firstly Rami took a shot, then another one ... Recklessed for a third one AND ... did a grand total of 0wds. I was not a happy Gremerin. Use Soul Stone rule just down right annoying. As he used up all but one of his soul stones so she didnt take a scratch. So then walked up Pere, all cocky as his fire breath fliped a RAM so ... as he was going to die next turn by her hands ... I pulled his trigger of trippling damage but sacrificing him self. Think even with a moderate damage flip I'll be nearly killing her. And if I remember if I pulled out a servier (how you spell it lol ... high card) I think I vould of wiped her out. But what does Pere do, with all his cockey'ness ... pull a damn ace ... cuasing three damage. But on upside he lived. Recklesed and again due to soul stones did nothing. Only to get shot next turn by Cassandra and not even damaging her in his blast as she was just out of the range ... Grrrr!! And as said Pere was dead with one shot from Cassandra, and then had eyes on for Rami ... Down below Raphael and his two fellow ventured forward towards the performer and the manikin. I think taking a pot shot off at the manikin. As thought early on it be better to target what I can hit without a WP flip, albeit it due to fancy stuff only do like 1dg at a time. But best to have one enemy to deal with, that two. But looking back, as first time playing Colette, maybe I should of gone for the performers. To stop her jumping about ... which she did do a fair bit ... anyway I digress for now ... Back up top Ophelia had a trick up her sleeve ... well was for me as first time I thought about doing this ... she companied her self with Francois, moved up and 'pulled' him in her looks (Definitely with her pot-belly ;-) ) before her second zero action to give him RAMs on his Cb flips. As my idea was to gun down the manikin and hope to slow down the performer with Francois hair-trigger trigger. He gunned down the manikin then tried to target the performer. But with the harmless rule was unable to flip enough Wp to hit. I also moved up McTavish onto the Western walkway hoping he will last long enough to be killed eventually so the Gremerins and Ophelia behind could then gun down what is left. But didnt work out that way sadly if you keep reading. My opponents first round of activations was simply moving towards my lot, and I believe Colette teleported as well as reactivating - I appologise in advance if I forget where Colette is through out the rest of this write up, as she moved around a fair bit. Basically the game went like this, Colette moving around the place annoying me. Although I did manage to kill her for my only VPs of the game for assanination. The performers kept trying to get me walk towards them so they can then paralyse. Which happened to McTavish, and also poisoned. So when he did activate next he was well, dead. Raphael and the two Bayou Gremerins were able to kill the manikin and performer on the lower level. Only to get hammer-fisted by Johan as he jumped down and had his way. Although Raphael was able to 'Squeel' back, but then did nothing to him the following turn - even with his free Reckless ... sigh!! And up top Cassandra sliced up Rami before walking towards to where Ophelia and her Gremerins were. Who eventually died. I had to use pretty much all my soul stonews to keep her alive, but ran out in the end lol Going back to point I made at the start of the post, I believe set up was wrong. Not only splitting up my Gremerins ... which is a no no aparently lol but also the fact of I made the top level on the western side too busy I couldn't utalise the guns efficiently. But hey ... there is always next time. And the store manager brought my attention something I found quite amusing, which I mentioned in previous post I believe ... This was he said ... If you lose - "You beat Gremlins ... Gremlins!!" (As in it no big thing lol) ... and ... If you win - "You lost to Gremlins!!" Anyway, sorry for the wordy half battle report. Next time I shall try to remember to take camera to snap some pictures for you guys. And I am hopefully going to finish McTavish tomorrow evening. Or at least get him well on the way to being finished.
