  1. What happens when a paired strike is made against Zoraida? Is it a straight flip or a negative flip? The wording: Proper Manners: All Attack Flips made by enemy models targeting this model, which are not Focused or Channeled, receive . Initially I want to assume that it would be a straight flip, the from paired and the from proper manners cancel each other out, right? But the part of the wording that makes me question it is "...which are not Focused or Channeled...". The fact that this wording is included makes me think that regardless of paired or any other abilities, unless the attack is focused or channeled it still results in a negative flip. If that wasn't the case, why would that wording be included? It could simply say, "All Attack Flips made by enemy models targeting this model receive :-fate".
  2. I was unaware of the "no combining casting ap w/ general ap thing". That doesn't make sense to me, are you sure it's true? As far as getting them in a crew together I run Zoraida who can hire collodi as the henchmen and lazarus as a merc. Even if you above "no combining ap" thing is accurate you could assimilate filled with stones with laz and spend his 2 general ap to cast it.
  3. I tried that just a little my last game and Filled with Stones on my Stitched Together but I was too impaitent to wait any longer and then jumped in with Col and his entourage. He was promptly killed. I'm thinking about adding Lazarus to the crew and then assimilating Col's puppet show, casting that and making Collodi and all his Marionettes fast and then using Collodi to do a double Filled with Stones each turn. Thoughts on that?
  4. Hello All, I'm writing this thread because I just finished painting up my Collodi box the other day and I've put him on the table twice so far. Both times he's been...moderately successful, but not nearly as useful as I'm hoping he will be. I'm finding that using Collodi and his alpha strike is leaving him venerable to huge retaliation. So he always manages to demolish 1 big guy or 2 medium guys, but then he's more or less guaranteed to pop either by the end of the turn when my opponent gets all their activations, or the start of the next turn, if the opponent wins incentive. I've looked at the pullmyfinger wiki and that gives me general tips about his specific abilities but I"m wondering, how do you use this guy in general? What am I doing wrong. Is he just a objective grabber? Thanks for the help.
  5. I just discovered this thread and it's amazing. All of it. Thank you sir for posting this. I'm inspired to go start my own terrain workshop and you've given me a place to begin.
  6. I'd like to announce the Inaugural season of Major League Malifaux! Play games, check your standings weekly, and have a chance to be crowned the Master of Malifaux. Some quick info: Registration open to all Southern California Residents within driving distance to Los Angeles The regular season will be 10 games A schedule will dictate your opponent, all you have to do is find a time to play once every two weeks and report the results. At the end of the 10 games the leaders of each division will be invited to participate in a full day event: playoffs and a world series match. The winner will be crowned master of malifaux, take home the MLM Cup and (of course) endless bragging rights. The full rules and format will be uploaded to the files section of this page. 7. I'm wondering the sequence with which a spell that does pulse damage with a df resist is resolved. Say for example, I run Papa Loco up into a pack of 5 enemies and cast Take Ya With Me (6" pulse of 6Dg with a df resist). How does the other player go about resisting? Does he flip and cheat for each model, completing them 1 at a time or does he flip off the deck for all 5 of his models and then cheat for ones he sees fit?
  8. Ah, right, I forgot that Kidnap is just "Pick three models, if they aren't in play at the end you win" and grudge is "Pick 1 model, you must kill it with a melee strike".
  9. I hadn't thought about that but that's a really neat little trick. How bout this follow up question: Why would I ever pick Kidnap when I could just pick grudge? Kill 3 guys w/ melee vs 1? Seems like a pretty straight forward choice.
  10. When you secretly select a model for a scheme and then announce that scheme, do you also announce that model? Framed for murder seems a terrible choice for announcing if you need to state which model...
  11. Here's old sag bags, this is before I based her. I don't have a picture of after. Imagine it with more of that army painter swamp grass...haha.
  12. So if I was looking to add some cheaper ranged firepower you guys would suggest Tuco. What about a healer? The Nurse? Candy? I don't know much about either. How does their costs compare with their impact on a Neverborn list?
  13. Who are the triplets? Lelu, Lilitu and...?
  14. Hey Everyone, I'm relatively new to the game. I've played probably around 15-20 scraps so far. I've got a pretty decent collection for a beginner, imho, but I'll be attending the local LA con this weekend, Strategicon, and I'm certain I'm going to be tempted into picking up some additional stuff. Here's what I've got so far and my reasoning behind it: Zoraida- Z is my only master. I love her. I absolutely love her. She's great, so while I'd consider playing around with other masters, I'm still new enough to the game to be content with just Z and varying the crew she surrounds herself with. 3 Silurids - At first, didn't really like them. When I realized how crazy mobile they are I changed my tune. Bad Juju - Still don't love him. I've only played him in 3 games, and they were my first three so I should probably give him another chance but...I'm just not inspired to. He was one of the original things that attracted me to pick up the Z starter box though. I love swamp thing...especially the DC New 52 version. 2x Stitched Together - These guys are powerhouses. Love em. Voodoo Doll - Gotta have it. Collodi (and his box) - Collodi and 2 of the marionettes are painted. I have a thing against fielding models that aren't painted so I'm holding off to play around with what he's capable of. Originally I got him as a henchman under zoraida but I wouldn't be opposed to letting him run his own crew. Ophelia (and her box) - Love Ophelia. She's my hammer. The rest of her box is really fun. I originally got her to add a little range to what Zoraida brings to the table and she and her kin play that role very well. Again, I bought her to play as Z's henchman but wouldn't be opposed to expanding on gremlins and letting her run the show every once in a while. Here's what I'm thinking of picking up. Let me know if you think this would be fun, add to what I'm currently working with, or if I'm way off or just completely missing something awesome. Avatar Z - Based on what I read on pull my finger, she seems pretty freakin awesome. Somer Teeth Box - Get's me some bayou grems to play with ophelia and...i dunno... Effigies - I've been doing a little looking into these. They seem neat, kind of. The Carrion seems like he'd be the most helpful with Z... Pandora Box - Because I'm trying to build my neverborn collection and I hate crews that are I2I. Obviously I wouldn't be able to play her with Z, except in a brawl... Lilith Box - I hear this works really well with Z. My biggest reservation here is my main opponent plays Lilith and Perdita about 50% of the time each so I'm already seeing them on the table all the time... Again, I'm still new so I'm more focused on having fun with crazy antics and staying sort of within theme than I am with building an optimal list or winning in tournaments. Thanks in advance!
  15. Yup, perfect. Thank you.
  16. This is not so much a rules clarification as a thematic clarification question. What is Object # supposed to represent? I don't get it... Why "object"?
  17. If a construct begins its turn within the area of effect for this aura but moves out of it, does he continue to be affected by it? The placement of the wording it a little tricky. Does it mean, "Until the start closing phase the constructs will be affected by it" or "Until the start closing phase Ramos will emit this aura and constructs within it are affected by it"?
  18. When you push something directly away from a Zoraida with her Repulsive spell, does it need to be pushed along the imaginary line that connects the two models bases or can it be pushed in any direction in a straight line away from the Z? For example, If a mature nephilim is sitting in base to base contact with Zoraida due north of her, when Z casts repulsive must the model be pushed due north or could it be pushed in a straight line any direction away from her as long as it's doesn't try to pass over her base? Thanks!
  19. You may cheat on positive twists or straight flips, just not negative ones.
  20. I"m fairly certain the card actually reads "Target non master model loses 1 TALENT or spell until it is removed from play". A talent is defined as any of the following: Ability, Action, Trigger or Weapon Talent. So the way I understand it Big Z can hex away practically anything on the back of the card. Unless of course the target is I2I.
  21. This is my typical "I played two games last night, please tell me how much of it I did wrong" post. Thanks in advance! 1) Can Pere Ravage's Ka-blooey be triggered by himself doing one of the things that causes him a wound? For example, If Pere is at 1 wound, can he opt to use reckless to take another walk and trigger Ka-blooey? Or better yet, can he do a Breath Fire Strike (for which he is careless and takes 1 wound), resolve the strike and then trigger Ka-blooey? Or are all those things considered sacrifice? 2) Now that I think about it: If he makes a Breathe fire strike with 1 wound left, does the strike even execute or would he take the wound first? What's the timing on that? 3) When would Zoraida's defensive trigger, Regret, be declared? Before the damage is dealt of after the attacker declares they're doing moderate or severe damage? I'm fairly certain it's always before damage but really hoping you'll tell me I can be tricky and spring it on them after they've done it. 4) This one is a little trickier to explain/visualize but I'll do my best. If I have a Mature Nephilim standing on the ground and I want to diving charge a model standing on the edge of a building's roof perpendicular to the neph (ie. if you draw a straight line from the center of my neph's base to the center of my target's base, followed that line for the path of the charge, there would be no ledge under my neph when he gets into base to base). Is it legal to perform the diving charge and land either off to the side or behind the target where there is room for standing on the roof with him/her?
  22. Yes, well both my opponent and myself are still very new to the game. Also, he'd played the Ortega portion of his crew before but it was the first time he had Samael, the Austringer and the enslaved Nephilim on the table. He didn't figure out the austringer could be hiding in a box until it was too late. We both made mistakes. As for the question above of how did Perdita get trounced so badly, he forgot about invisible servants so he thought he had 4 points locked down with the claim jump. He also thought insignificant models weren't taken into account towards the round up scheme. So going into turn 6 he was predicting a draw, 8-8. When it ended we called it at 8-4 because we both thought the same thing about round up. We're still both learning a ton of rules clarification every time we play. I appreciate you guys pointing out all the mistakes we made. But to be clear, if Zoraida has LOS to a model, uses her (2) Create Voodoo Doll, Conduit's the doll to the model and as long as the doll ends the turn w/in 1" of Zoraida the conduit'd model gets 2 poison each turn and will take 2 wd at the start of it's activation each turn. Is that correct?
  23. Maybe I did play the poison wrong, thank you for clarifying that for me. We dealt the damage in the start closing phase instead of at the models activation. As far as I know, I played conduit correctly. LOS has no range attached to it, correct? Zoraida was far away but I could have drawn a base to base line to the austringer without going through 3+ inches of obscuring terrain.
  24. Can the poison 2 from zoraidas voodoo doll be shrugged off or spell broken? I ask because the text on the doll doesn't mention anything about poison counters, it just says "the nominated model suffers 2 poison" Thanks!
