  1. Is it Wednesday again? Oh yes other Jeremy, it is Wednesday. and that means it's Malifaux night! XD as usual I will be at Saltire Games from 6 to 9pm tonight for Malifaux demos! If you haven't played before, or maybe haven't tried out 2.0, you should stop by! already know the rules and just looking to get a game in with some new opponents? then you're in luck because we know the rules too and are totally willing to play games against people we don't know! either way, don't be shy, come to Satlire games tonight (or any Wednesday) from 6 to 9pm.
  2. As promised, I'm going to be at Saltire games tonight at 6pm! If you're in the area, you should come by and hang out!
  3. The guild will reign supreme… obviously. I will toss my hat (and my constructs) into the guild team. i have already dedicated 2015 my guild year anyway. =]
  4. I noticed this while playing my game with him. The constructs that stayed close the whole game were great, but once they left the bubble and started a turn out in the field somewhere, they weren't as good all the sudden. So since I have Lucious, Sonnia, and McCabe stuff all over the place, I was thinking about taking Hoff with 2 or 3 constructs and then maybe something like Daschel and some riflemen, or witchlings and Hopkins/Sidir. even the judge and marshals depending on what I'm up against and what I need done. Also, this shores up the obvious weakness of having low Df and high armor all over the place while playing against Outcasts.
  5. Oh wow, they all look good... but put them together... damn, these are amazing! I love the ice shards everywhere and seriously, kudos on the white scheme. that is tough to pull off well, and yours look really sharp. XD
  6. The monkey looks great.... err... ape... I suppose I should say ape... but anyway. he looks good and all, but I think we need a group shot! XD
  7. I love Misaki! She is far from my first master (started with Lady J way back in 1.0 days) but I spent several months playing Misaki about 95% of the time. If I wasn't playing her there was a specific reason for it with strats... but it was rare. She is pretty good at everything. Also, since 10 Thunders have invaded the other factions... if you are thinking of going to the guild, Pick up Lucas McCabe next. He can be played as either 10 Thunder (and works great with some models in Misaki's crew) and as guild. The 10Ts are a slippery slope man... after a while you'll think Mei Feng looks cool... then before you know it, you're buying Ramos because his crew works well with her... then you'll think Yan Lo is neat and you'll pick up Kirai or Nicodem because of their minions and Toshiro's summoning... then you'll see Jakob... I'm not speaking from personal experience or anything....... no... no way.... XD My favorite thing about the ten thunders is how versatile they are. Once you have a few models added to Misaki's crew, there isn't a single objective you cannot complete. They are really cool.
  8. Tonight's the night! We'll be there at 6pm and ready to get a game in! Also, as always, if you want a demo I'm more than happy to get you going! EDIT: Actually it looks like I will not be there tonight after all. Sorry about the change everyone, but I will definitely be back next week!
  9. Sold... now I just need to get more than 1 XD

    Guild releases

I would even like to see a box like the young and mature got for neverborne with both watchers and wardens!
  11. wow... Ryle, Peacekeeper AND Pale Rider.... Better get used to loosing with Hoffman, cause I'm not going to be able to stop playing him... even if my opponent builds specifically to take him down.
  12. The SS Miner did okay in my game. His ability to start the game buried and then pop up at the end of a turn was quite handy as it allowed me to deploy about 8 inches from Martel's deployment zone and move into it and drop a scheme marker for Breakthrough. I will definitely be running the Miner again. His ability to gain a soulstone is extra handy since Hoffman can heal the Miner up a little bit potentially allowing you to get more that 2 or 3 stones in a game. Also, it has the ability to use Soulstones. Not sure how useful this is for some people though. I had 4 or 5 stones in my game and only used one for initiative. I didn't have much at all that I felt needed a stone. That being said, I tend to either ignore or forget to use stones... a lot... so I typically don't run too many for most masters. Joss was scary. I would hate to be against him in a game. However, as I mentioned I got too focused in taking out Bishop with him and devoted all his AP for two turns into taking him out. Then he wasn't fast enough to either get back to Hoffman, or to the Squatter's rights counter I wanted before the game was going to end. Still... he is pretty awesome. I forgot about the mobile tool kit. But I'm not sure I could give up the mechanical attendant and his dampening field (is that the right name?) well... the skill that negates blasts, pulses, and auras within 3 inches. Also, I can see times when his condi removal will be nice to have around. Has anyone used Metal Gamin for running objectives? I'm wanting to find someone that can reliably do it. I like the watcher for some, but he seemed a little squishy. He got lucky in that the desperate merc that was shooting at him was flipping pretty terrible cards, but I feel like if anything really wanted him down, he'd be a fairly easy mark. The hunters are certainly good for it, but given the option, I like their damage a lot and would rather have them in the fray instead of running schemes. I think most of this stems from playing 10T for so long and having lots of models that are good at ONE thing instead of fewer models that are more well rounded.
  13. -jots down a couple notes- interesting...... we really need to stop talking about what crew we're going to use before the game! XD Anyway, completely ignoring what I just said... My metal gamin got here on Friday, and I built them yesterday, so maybe they are going to find their way onto the table as well. I hear such good things about having one for that Ca 8, basically allowing you to auto cast one skill and get the other on a 4 or better. That's the good life right there... While Joss did crush Bishop, I knew he was scary and I did everything I could to take him down. I suppose, because of that, I was not able to really utilize Joss in any other way. And because you got him sidetracked your ronin was able to grab that corner marker, and that table corner. So Bishop was kind of a worthy sacrifice! haha Does anyone have any input on running non-constructs with him? Maybe having his core set and then something like a couple witchling stalkers or some riflemen? Not a whole lot of your stones because he wont be able to support them at all really, but maybe just enough to shore up the obvious construct based weakness. Also, maybe it was just because of what schemes and strats we ran last week, but I wasn't overly impressed with the watcher's scheme running ability. I liked him, but I feel like he is better for other things when he's with Hoffman.
  14. Well, this may not really help, but I have the digital books for Pathfinder. Probably 15 or 20 books all in all if you include the stories and things, plus all of the main rule books. (aside from one that recently came out) I hate it. There is just something about having to look through pdf documents, waiting on them to load and reading it off the screen that just seems like such a pain. I would rather have the hard copy in my hands, anytime. I can usually find things faster (and the Malifaux books aren't hard to navigate really). so for me, hardcopy hands down. Also, it's only two books, and unless you need the cards or upgrades from crossroads, do you really need to bring the second book along? Better yet, just go pick up the mini-rules manual. it has everything you need to know without being a burden to pack.
  15. Brass Monkey pretty much summed it up. I like the decks because I Proxy a few things that are not out yet and weren't in 1.0/5, like Shenlong or most of the gremlin faction. But if you're content just buying the box sets as they come out, you'll probably not miss the arsenal decks. Personally I don't know that I have ever used one of the generic upgrades. Badge of office is a good one, but I don't believe I've ever actually used it! XD I think this depends a lot on which faction you choose as some are better than others. But if you have the rule books, you can look in there and see if you're really missing out on that upgrade.
  16. I really like the Ramos box stuff. Well, I used Joss and a soulstone miner for this particular game. I know lots of people on here have said that Howard is great. I think the mini arachnids would be good for something like deliver message or distract since they like to be in base contact anyway. and a Ml 6 or 7 would greatly improve the Swarm's melee attack, especially with the trigger. So I think Ramos' box is fantastic! I even based the Brass Arachnid on a 50mm base to sub it for the Large arachnid. So Ramos himself is the only (sadly) wasted model in the set! XD
  17. It certainly helps that he is probably the best Master sculpt in 2.0 so far. I started painting the crew last night. So excited! and my Metal Gamin came in as well! Who knows, maybe we'll see a watcher two pack? or they could do a set like the nephillim have where we get two watchers and two wardens. Oh, and we need Ryle. cause we need to get the brothers back together! XD
  18. Yeah... what about Sidir and the pathfinder, or some riflemen to lay down some cover fire? even using traps to try and slow down the pig advance? if you could keep them at arms length long enough to have your gun line soften them up, then send lady J and Fransisco in there to tear up the heavy hitters? Or even better, since you'd have a gunline softening their ranks, they might be less likely to brave sending someone in to fight lady J or Frank and you would have a little time to get some schemes done (depending on what you need to be doing) just a thought. I haven't seen Ulix on the table yet.
  19. Is AMAZING! Had my first game with him ever last night and he just clicked for me. Usually that first game is kind of a rocky start and by turn 2 I see a ton of mistakes I made but it's too late because it's positioning stuff anyway. Nope. not with Hoffman. We had corner deployment and Squatter's rights as the strat. Basically I moved the bubble right into the center of the board and held it. I love his defensive play style and his ability to "obey"ish his models. His power loop made perfect sense to me. it was just a perfect match. I played against a Viks crew and I am certain the only reason I managed a slight win was because he knew it was my first game with Hoffman and left Taylor in the bag... but he did have some stuff that ignored armor anyway, so it wasn't like he totally threw in the towel but I know he did me a favor. Still, machine puppet, power loop, the modifications... having Joss in a guild crew.. it just all seems so perfect. I loved every second of that game. I may have a new master obsession on my hands here... I spent the whole drive home wondering why I never tried him out in 1.5.
  20. They did just put something on the front page last week (I think it was) saying that a bunch of the sets were going to be back in stock. Nathan mentioned that Lady J would be a little late, but she would be in soon as well. As far as releases, they typically have something every month, sometimes is a bunch of small boxes, sometimes is just two more master box sets, it varies quite a bit. but they are pretty good about getting them out each month. However, (and this may have changed, I don't know) it used to be that the webstore was the last place to get stocked with new products to give time to the local game stores to get the new stuff on the shelf. That way we didn't all just buy the new stuff online instead of supporting our LGS! Pretty classy move in my opinion.
  21. Back in 1.5 I started 10T with Misaki then picked up Yan Lo and later grabbed McCabe. I have yet to actually play a game with Brewmaster, Mei Feng, or Lynch. in 2.0 Misaki is probably where one should start, but I would immediately pick up McCabe as well. He doesn't need his out of faction models like Yan Lo does. I find Yan has trouble in games where I don't have Ashigaru and punks nearby. McCabe just lives to make your minions better. Doesn't matter if he is giving your archers fast, tossing melee weapons to your low river monks, making your opponent's entire crew slow, he just buffs and debuffs everything he touches. Because of this, he likes to run with stuff from Misaki's set. I also recommend grabbing some of the 10T units. I love the archers, yamaziko, low river monks, samurai, and Orian. The only downside (for me) is those minion sets contain 3 of the model, and I almost never take 3 of anything. I use them to proxy things like high river monks and the lone swordsman. While I haven't run with Mei Feng, I know several people around here speak really highly of the rail workers and Kang. So you can't go wrong there. My only hesitation there is that Mei loves her constructs, so the Misaki box isn't as useful to her as her minions are to Misaki.
  22. I like them. they don't really have any synergy with McMourning, but then again, none of the guild really do. They like his Nurse, but McM just goes off and does his own thing in my games. I find that it's nice to have a lawyer around (has that ever been said before? I've never said that before..) I like the riflemen in games from the past. though I'm still figuring out how many is the "sweet spot" I took all three the last time I tried it, I'm afraid to take just one. In those cases I take the Pathfinder, maybe toss in a few traps to build a bit of a sniper roost near the center of the table. While I have not used Captain Dashell yet, but it looks like he just makes guild guard models better in general, so i'll have to try him out with a gunline.
  23. I have to agree on the Executioner vs the Judge. I have never gotten my SS worth on the Executioner. No matter the master or the situation. When I would run them with Justice or Perdita, they would just lurch forward and never do what I wanted. when I would run them with McCabe, my opponent would target them first knowing they would be decent there. I stopped trying to make them work right after 2.0. Figured there were better things for less points. Judge on the other hand... he was my go-to henchman for a long long time. Still would be if I weren't so deathly afraid of mixing metal and plastic... or he will be again once I buy lady J's new box set.
  24. I pretty much always take evidence tampering. Something just feels wrong about playing McMourning and not having access to scalpel slingin'. and of course, I always take On the Clock. I haven't played him in a good while, got a little focused on the 10T last year. but I used him quite a bit in the beta and even after release for quite a few games. I like the totem, I always run the little pup. even if all he does is his odor thing to poison a couple models then dies off. I like running him with guild guards/riflemen/pathfinder... Basically anything that says "Guild" before the name. I think Lucious' box would be a good addition to a McmMourning crew. Though I don't know how Dashel works, but I know he likes guild guard models. so I don't see why he wouldn't fit.
