  1. I politely disagree with this. Yes the Dreamer has just been heavily errated and you will (like all Dreamer players) have to adjust your cards and maybe print of pdf when available. However, it puts any dreamer player in a new position. The ideas for what will work best are not yet known with the Dreamer now that he has been errated. If you are looking for something new for you but also new for the Malifaux community then go Dreamer. If you want to choose a master that is well known in the Malifaux community and you can look up all the tactics on - then go one of the other Masters. I personally think it is the most exciting time to play the Dreamer. You never know, you might be the person that works out how to best play the Dreamer under the new rules instead of just reading everyone else's thoughts on how to best play your master. I shelved the Dreamer but have just dusted him off with his changes because of this. Also, on the topic of difficult to learn masters it is true that some are easier. But essentially for a new player you are going to have to learn all the rules of all your models, plus the main ruleset, plus the rules of the opposition. It is rules heavy. So what are a few extra going to add? I actually found starting with the Dreamer actually limited the number of models I could take (Nightmares) and therefore helped me to learn them. When I did Guild (currently doing) I keep getting too many options and taking new stuff every single game.
  2. Blast things! Shoot things! & Chop things! I honestly find the best way to learn with any crew is to jump in and just have a lash at a game. You will lose but that is one of the best ways to learn the crew yourself. Give it half a dozen games and you will have worked out the synergies of the crew, strategies and schemes (even the ones you haven't play yet).
  3. I say strap a pair of wings on the Supply Wagon, give it flight and call it even
  4. I think the Dreamer has been toned down enough in the last week - so I don't feel they should try and cuddle the twins in his crew. My biased vote (not that this is a democracy) is that buried Twins do not take wounds. Only those in play without the respective counterpart.
  5. Official ruling please - as I want to run my dreamer crew (under new errata) tomorrow and would love to know how this all works officially - not just using my guesswork.
  6. Ha - you know I am in the same boat. Never noticed it before. It doesn't come up all that often but it is a curious contradiction. We have been playing it as remove all counters - just not wounds. I think that is the way it is meant to be. An official ammendment would be great.
  7. What do your opponents normally run? Perdita? Dreamer? Levi? Zoraida? Pandora? Lilith? It can depend on what they take.
  8. Keep an eye on Ebay and the like. I managed to get original book 1 for $20 about 2 weeks ago off ebay. It was brand new and unused. Got lucky but it is your best bet. I missed the original book as I was a late convert. Sure all the stats are on the site now but nothing beats holding the original in your hands and reading all the fluff. I wouldn't hold my breath for a reprint.

I wanted to move on from Perdita to other masters but she is so fantastic! That said I do mainly face off against Neverborn so that is a given. I have found that cycling through different crews for her hasn't really hurt me much because she picks up so much of the slack.
  10. I can't help but feel the flood gates are opening for everyones "Tone down this mini ....(insert mini from some else's crew)" threads. I'm not complaining, I love the discussion!
  11. As I play both Dreamer and Perdita as my main masters, I can't but help have a feeling of ambivalence over the whole matter.

I have found this as well. With Austringers and really fun 4ss minions out there, most of the Ortegas get left behind given their cost.

I play Perdita almost solely at the moment and agree with what has been said so far. If you keep Alpha Striking the whole family each turn you will be out activated and out played. Very rarely will I activate more than 2 or 3 family members at a time. It is no fun sitting there and letting the opponent move their entire crew without any response from the family as they all went at the start of the turn. Even on turn 1 I don't just move in a bunch as I want my opponent to keep guessing as to what I will do. Use it wisely.
  14. My feelings are that it wouldn't move as it would have to stop moving when comes into contact but I think that it wasn't intended to be this way. I would probably rule in a game that it couldn't move but I would love to get a more official ruling on this. I am still only a newb and haven't passed my rules lawyer exam yet.
  15. My bad. It does say it under his soulstone cost. It gets a bit tricky for us newer players with different cards, versions, etc. I'm used to looking under there names for attributes etc. I guess I will have to get his wedding annulled
  16. Twisting Fates has Sue as unique but his card lists only 'Mercenary'. My limited knowledge tells me that card trumps book therefore, no unique. Welcome to the family Sue!
  17. Well that was my understanding as well, provided that you tried to move it as close to the centre as possible you should be fine. We had a situation where the Wagon dodged around a Black Blood Shaman on the last turn to get to the centre of the board. The BBS had been moved there to block the wagon's movement. The BBS player was not to happy as he didn't realise that perhaps the wagon could move that way. The wagon controller (myself) didn't know if it was illegal as it seemed to comply with the rules. Still I felt a bit dirty doing it.
  18. Hi, searched but didn't find this one. With the Supply Wagon Strategy - a quick question on movement. You have to move it towards the centre (directly I think it says) of the board each turn, but how much control do you have on the movement? Our situation was that we were playing on a terraclips board and there are multiple ways from it's starting point to the centre. At one point you have to decide whether to go through a tunnel or up over some stairs. So which way does it go? What if both routes are roughly the same distance as well? There are also differences when navigating small terrain pieces that mean nothing for total distance covered but could mean the world of difference in the enemy being able to strike the wagon. Also, can you move it around enemy models if you are still moving it to the centre and there are gaps or would it follow direct line as the crow flies and just stop when hitting their base?
  19. Oops, true dat. Only just got Abuela the other day and have only played her once - did it to Sue so no issue. I think the issue with trying to use bigger, badder things to protect Samael is that you sink too many points into him and he can still be sniped off by someone (or those cheeky Nephlim that I play all the time). He is strategy, scheme and opponent dependent.
  20. I think we all know the thing that sucks most about Samael - his model! As far as stats/rules, I don't mind the big fella. Yes his damage is the most impressive. Flaming bullets last 2 activations is amazing, allowing you to get it up when you don't need to burn cards for Sonnia (or another master/minion) ready for the action. Minimum 5 damage is awesome. I have found his hunting tools don't get much of a look in as melee is not the place for him. Rapid fire and hunter/scout make him unbelievable for shooting, not to mention basic cb 6 on his Colt. If he goes with Perdita and Abuela, you can "Shotgun Wedding" him into the family, companion him with perdita and Abuela, obey him out into los, rapid fire with flaming bullets, then use the other's obey to get him back to safety. But the guild putting out a tonne of ranged damage - what's new about that? Plus, with most things you can counter it with the right tools.
  21. That 1v1 game against the Otegas didn't happen to be a game in which you ran Teddy out into the open in front of Nino, was it? And then Santiago gunned down Pandora? If so, I might have been the one pulling the trigger. If not, then disregard.
  22. Thanks for all the help guys. It seems emailing Nathan directly is the way to go. He is going to fix it all up for me. Good work forum and good work Wyrd!
  23. No that's not the case. They don't have my shipping information as yet as I bought the miniatures through an independent store. The store has referred me back to Wyrd as they have said that the company is usually good at fixing up problems like this. I will give Nathan a chance to answer the email I have sent today.
  24. I had always heard great things about Wyrd from anyone that had dealt with them which is why I was surprised that I went 2 weeks and no reply. The form worked properly because it sends you an email to let you know that they have received the message. I just sent an email to Nathan so let's see how it goes. I'm sure it is just an honest oversight but you get to a point where you don't want to keep waiting.
  25. I will give that one a go. I had used their own contact service available on their website. I assumed that would have been the best way to go, given that it is available to the public. I shall try an email to directly to this address. Thanks
