So, I'm standing in line at the Steak'n'Shake in downtown Indianapolis on a brief break before having to run back to the Paint'n'Take area where I worked all weekend when I get a text message from my wife, Aimee. She asks, "Hi, thinking of spending $100 on minis and getting sucked into a new game. OK with you?" Kind of the last question I expected to see from her, but I wasn't about to complain!
That game turned out to be Malifaux, as you may have guessed. I eventually met back up with her and found her gleefully assembling her Colette box set. The Baby Kade and Candy figures were part of the Paint'n'Take free offerings this year, and eventually she figured out that they were from a game and that she really liked the figures a lot and enjoyed painting them. She also snagged a Dead Justice set.
Myself, I ended up buying a Viktoria set off of Spoon (who I need to wave at and say "hell yeah, Spoon is awesome" because he totally is) and a Von Schill set, and earned myself a fate deck from Z at Wyrd by virtue of it working better for me than him when I used it and the Viktorias to back Von Schill into a corner and nearly won my first game ever played (sadly, my last fig was brought down by Hans).
Needless to say, we're both hooked and looking forward to getting into the game more. I'm already in the process of infecting my local gamer friends with it, in fact.
Hi, my name is Chris and I'm the latest resident of Malifaux. *waves*
