  1. Just maxed out the ninth 6-player league with 55 players now signed up. It's looking as though we'll end up with 60 players signed up. If you've been considering it then I'd recommend you make your wishes known asap
  2. Hi all, next week on the show we're joined by Andrew Weakland for a cross-continental M2E chat. We've had the rule books and models for a few weeks now so it's a good time to do a question and answer episode. Basic questions, complex questions, new player questions... all welcome. I'm also giving a Von Schill in M2E review so any questions for me regarding him would also be appreciated. So if you have any questions (or answers) then list them below.
  3. Firstly, thanks Yosh. A very useful resource I had this situation come up earlier and grabbed a screen shot. Shouldn't the 11 have selected Murder Prot as a scheme instead of Spring the Trap? I kept flipping combinations and was getting Spring the Trap appearing on both 10s and 11s. Hearts = Rams, Clubs = Tomes, Spades = Crows, Diamonds = Masks
  4. I thought I'd post something in this section of the forum as I know a lot of people don't delve into the Vassal sub-section. What is Vassal? Vassal is a computer program that lets you play virtual games against people around the world. Vassal is the name given to the main program and then people load specific modules of the games they wish to play. What is a module? A module is a file that you load inside Vassal that contains the relevant counters and items that you need to play. The Malifaux module contains top-down maps and counters to represent the models in Malifaux. None of the game mechanics are built into the Vassal program, instead players communicate with each other (usually over Skype) and describle the actions they will be doing. However the fate decks of cards are built into the Vassal program. A link to download Vassal and the Malifaux module (along with the Vassal rules manual) can be found here How much knowledge is required to play? You can play Vassal with basically no computer skill. Installing the Vassal program and the Malifaux module is quick and after about 10 minutes of playing around you can understand the majority of what there is to know. A game of Malifaux on Vassal will usually last as long as a normal game of Malifaux. Why are you posting this now? There has been a recent influx of new people coming to the forum and I've received a few DMs from people asking what Vassal is (as I tend to be one of the more active people in the Vassal sub forum). Also I am currently collecting sign ups for a Vassal league which will be running from the start of October until the middle of December. If this sounds interesting you can check out the thread here Why should I play game on Vassal? Vassal allows you to play games against people all over the world. It allows you to play against crews and opponents that you may not normally play against. It's a great way to still play Malifaux if you are not able to leave the house, if you don't have a local player group or if it's the middle of the night and you can't sleep. How do I find an opponent? There are a couple of ways that appear to be the most popular. 1. - Post in the thread here saying that you are looking for a game. 2. - Post on twitter saying that you are looking for a game. I've found number 2 to be the most useful method of getting a game. If you use the #malifaux or #vassalfaux then someone will usually pick it up and retweet it for you. Anything else? That's it If you're interested in signing up for the league then send an email over to the email address in the thread and I hope this thread will be of use to some people.
  5. She can take any (0) action regardless of if it's a Ca action or not (as long as it's coming from a Friekorps model). In the beta it used to only be Ca action but that has now been changed to include ANY (0) action. Note: needless to say she needs to hit the (built in) trigger to be able to use the (0) action.
  6. You get the (dubious) privilege of being entrant number 50. That guarantees a first round fixture against Conrad. Lucky you.
  7. Remember that these dates *may* only apply to the UK: http://elementgames.co.uk/wargames-and-miniatures/malifaux
  8. Currently there are no Friekorps models with (1) Ca actions. The trigger seems a bit redundant if she cannot target Friekorps with the spell.
  9. But that's the Doppelganger. She specifically targets something printed on the stat card or upgrade. Hannah targets a (1) Ca or (0) action that belongs to the target with no reference to where the target got that action from. I don't think Hannah should be able to do it but an argument could certainly be made that she currently can.
  10. 49 Signs Ups at the moments with 2 and a half weeks remaining to sign up. Breaking 60 (10 leagues) is a real possibility 5 Guild 12 Ressers 10 Arcanists 4 Neverborn 6 Outcasts 7 Gremlins 5 Ten Thunders Thanks for signing up everyone, it's gonna be a lot of fun
  11. Von Schill takes The Shirt Comes Off as an upgrade Can Hannah use the (0) He's Mad Now by Making A New Entry and hitting the trigger? If so, is the upgrade discarded? Notes: Hannah's trigger allows her to take ANY Friekorps (0) action (regardless of Ca or not) The Shirt Comes Off does not reference a model by name (it says "this model..."
  12. As this episode was presented by All Bran, I doubt it will be a swooshing noise :S
  13. Strongarm is coming in wave 2 as well I've been playing exclusively Von Schill since just after the public beta opened (brief dalliance with Ramos) and struggle to make a pure Friekorps list at a 50ss level. However with the addition of Johan to the crew it gives a solid 50ss crew: VS, Hannah, 2 x Friekorps, Trunk, Specialist, Johan with maybe an additional Friekorps model to give 8 activations. It's odd to note that the trunk does not have the Friekorps characteristic though.
  14. And as the spell has no TN an enemy model could conceivably do the same on their resist and have the spell succeed.
  15. I'd also strongly suggest missing out upgrades completely in your first few games. Not only will this remove a level of complexity from the models (and give you less cards to worry about), but it will also allow you to fully understand the basics of what that model can and can't do before you start adding icing and cherries to it.
  16. Been having this discussion elsewhere today so I thought I'd bring it here and see what people thought. Hannah casts Make a New Entry on a Nurse and subsequently casts Take Your Meds. Make a New Entry may not declare triggers on the "stolen" spell. Take Your Meds must declare a trigger. This is my interpretation of the (murky) rules: These appear to be at odds with each other so we come to the interpretation of specific. Nothing can be implied from the language (must vs may not are both non-optional, unlike may for example) so we need to look at it a different way. We have a group of spells that Make a New Entry can target, let us call this S. Take Your Meds is a subgroup of this group. Hannah's trigger restriction will apply to a broader amount of spells (S) than just the Take Your Meds subgroup. However the Nurse's restriction on Take Your Meds only applies to Take Your Meds so it applies to a smaller amount of the game than the Make a New Entry trigger restriction. Therefore Take Your Meds' trigger requirement is more specific and Hannah can declare a trigger. The point of this thread is to appeal for some clarity regarding the (IMO) poorly written rules regarding levels of specificity in rule breaking.
  17. Tribes2 had the exact same idea at the same time Currently Ressers 10 - Arcanists 10

THIS! (Although I think it only works in a second edition context)
  19. If Dumb Luck and his Gremlins finish above MythicFox, does Som'er gain control of the <mod hat>? It is a very pretty hat... Edit: sorry, I forgot Gremlins are cool now and other players have jumped on the bandwagon...

Words to live by! It was nice to see everyone (albeit briefly) on Saturday. It looked like David had done his usual great job and organised another well run, fun event and it certainly seemed as though everyone was enjoying themselves
