  1. Hi, I've been pouring my heart and soul into studying book 2 recently, and one thing hit me. Some of the new masters and henchmen seem a bit "off" or would be better the other way around. I'll hit you with an example. Colette and Kaeris. I'm not saying Kaeris is a bad henchmen, especially after fire gamin and other stuff from book 3, but showgirls seem like the perfect thing for a special forces. Most people taking showgirl crews dont really deviate from them, aside from the odd M&SU asset, so why wasnt colette a henchmen, with special forces (Showgirls) and performer and mannequin, coryphee, cassandra, and mechanical doves (showgirls). They even have this on their card, just not as a special force. Freeing Kaeris up for hiring anything from arcanist, most of which are M&SU members or assets anyway (yes, ignoring beasts and the cult of december) but its unlikely she'd be wanting to take those anyway. Lucius and hoffman. Lucius is an awesome model, just screams malifaux to me. I love the fluff and his position in the guild. And again, I'm not saying special forces (guardsman) is a bad thing, but letting him hire anything, he is the governers secretary and chief of secret police, just seems so much better than having hoffman allowed to take anything from the guild, whereas he only synergises with constructs really, so whilst he will never really take a death marshall or witchling stalker, whilst lucius isnt allowed to. Any thoughts?
  2. Have used arcane effigy with collodi, +1ap is useful, but it can sometimes be hard to have him activate before collodi, as if you're casting puppet show (fast) then a lot of the other dolls lose out if they activate before. Will try the brutal effigy soon, not that you need the healing flip, as wicked dolls can do that, but its nice and I hope it'll be nice to have a ranged attack. I think you have too many wicked dolls. Even with defensive stance + cheating fate, they'll die quickly withtheir 2 wounds. A few are incredibly useful though. I'd consider dropping 2 for an effigy, (or insidious madness, see below) and putting the rest in your pool. Insidious madness might be a nice addition to the army? Not fast enough to keep up with dolls, but can do the negative flip aura way out ahead of your force, then stitched togethers can gamble their life and theother (1) wp->wp duel one, all whilst your opponent is on a negative flip.
  3. Love your work on the aethervox. I'd have submitted something for the Amarcus competition, but I've never used him. Something quick I picked up in ep 12 though, can a jackalope really use Avatar marcus's spells, as he's a different entity to master marcus?

  4. Just a token comment to point out how much I bloody love this podcast. cheers
  5. Wow... I love somer and peaches Pig looks great, then somer has a lot of decent detail done on it. Keep up the good work.
  6. Like the idea, but I think it's impractical for gaming :/ Might be good for display though? I had a similar idea but was going to make a mini marionnette string and controller, with string 8" long for quick, themey ways of measuring collodis dolls
  7. Hi all... Going for a construct heavy ramos crew, probably the box set, some extra M&SU stuff, some of the guild constructs as aRamos can summon them, and a few extra spiders. What base do you think would work best with the crew? Both in terms of theme, complimenting the models, and not clashing with them? Thinking something simple atm, probably sand, but interested to hear opinions
  8. Couldnt see the terrain, but nice blog. Love the background image
  9. I don't think you need a couple of brushes, maybe 1 or 2? and yeah, washes are great. I'd recommend vallejo paints though, theyre cheaper and wwaaayy better in my opinion. Feel free to try other brands eventually and make your own decision, but yeah, I love vallejo, having used many brands. As for paints... Black, white, grey. (codex or similar for grey, easy to darken with black). Metal? I like gw's boltgun metal for pretty much everything :L Whatever colour you want his coat to be. A brown. I like bestial brown and its vallejo equivalent. Badab black and devlan mud. In addition, if you're sharing them, a red, blue and yellow might be useful. Wargaming is an expensive hobby, especially starting out :L but buying vallejo and getting it from online discounters, in addition to playing skirmish games like malifaux (Which are waaaay more fun) than mass battle games, the cost is stomachable :L
  10. Hi all Firstly, almost finished painting the bomb-omb, but here's finished pics I took before painting, as I thought someone might like too see it if they were planning to make something similar. I still don't know whether I'm going to start a ramos crew :/ I really want to, but don't know if I'll ever get it finished, or use it. But every time I see a log of his models, I'm desperate to get some I have a plan for a soulstone miner proxy, more to my liking modelwise than the official one, so if that gets finished, I promise I'll do the rest of the crew. Small update on my hamelin crew sorry. Been doing a lot of rats recently. Hardest bit about them is the bases :L Will gets some better pics, but here's nix and 4 rats. Stolen next. or Hamelin. Or probably more rats -
  11. What do I think? I think those are some damn fine gremlins Skin tone isn't quite how I'd do it (40k ork player many moons ago), but it looks good none the less. OSL on the flame looks good, models practically breathe character, and you've shown it off quite well
  12. To be honest, I think this is the case with most big metal miniatures. Trying to remember sticking a few khador jacks together, had to leave the boilers off because they just wouldnt fit. An inevitability of miniatures I think. Luckily, greenstuff and liquid putty is your friend
  13. To echo diehard's comment, your sculpting fits in perfectly with the malifaux aesthetic. I'd definitely consider sending a few emails off to wyrd, even if they dont want this one, I'm sure your skills can be used somewhere, be it other models, or base inserts and acessories (The night terrors base looks amazing). You're painting is top too. Love the onyro, gorgeous colours very well applied. Looking forward to seeing more, you've tempted me to attempt a kirai crew at some point
  14. Hi all, quick something thats been bothering me... If a model gains an ability, for example the soulstone miner, and melee expert from its ability, or a marionnette (or other doll) gaining melee expert or casting expert from collodi's spell, how long does this effect last? I've been playing just one turn, but several threads on the soulstone miner have made me reconsider my belief. Thanks in advance, Jack
  15. Hi all. Wanting to pick up a soulstone miner for my ramos crew, just because I love the fluff and think it fits perfectly with ramos But, I'm not a massive fan of the model. Looks like a big metal worm. Too sci-fi IMO, not steampunky or wild westy enough for me. So, anyone have any ideas for proxies? Or ideas for making an alt version? It has a 40mm base, so there's a lot of room for the model, I was thinking something similar to the union miner, but obviously, thats a unit in itself now. Maybe a bigger, robotic miner? dual pickaxes maybe? Dungarees, hard hat, terminator face. Throw a few ideas at me, I'd rather spend a few nights making something original and awesome than buy something not quite good enough from reaper :L Thanks
  16. I prefer the mariner, fits with the malifaux aesthetic better
  17. Lovely conversion on collodi, never thought silver would look good, but it does
  18. *Jack*

    Submarine Demo

So what you're saying is... If civilisation does go $$$$$$$$ up, and everyone nukes eachother... There's still going to be 2 malifaux crews left in the world? Amazing
  19. That flesh is gorgeous, and the tentacles are great. Making me look at the way I paint flesh in future, thanks
  20. This thread reminds me of the song "Hardest button to button" But I think rezzer masters can be difficult to get quite right, I've played mcmourning and nicodem and think I have loads to learn for both of them :L
  21. I stole the idea off someone on this forum, so feel free The thread was called "Constructs abound", and as I remember, it was a gorgeous painting log of ramos. It's a ball of greenstuff, was going to use a marble but couldnt find one, but greenstuff is probably better as it holds glue and paint better. The feet are from a wargames factory shock trooper, but anything, cadian, empire militia, anything will work. Top is from a bunch of watch parts I got off ebay, useful for steampunking up stuff. The exhausts are the muzzle from a 40k gun of some sort, most likely orks, but I've lost one now, but anything will work, and I dont think they're necessary. Got to give him some eyes somehow, and a clockwork winder-upper in his back. Thanks for looking guys.
  22. Hi guys, come back with pics of the start of my hamelin crew Seems a bit too wash heavy, I'll sort that out And making an electrical creation for a maybe ramos crew wip, making him look like a bom-omb, like I saw here http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/Geckilian/Creation.jpg
  23. thanks have to agree about the hands , but I think I could do a better job than that I did collodi first, before i'd had any experience painting the wood. will probably have anothher go tomorrow
  24. Hey all, New look to the forum finally drove me to upload pictures of my painted stuff. Lights not great atm so the models dont look great, will take some more in natural light later, as the colours show up better.Collodi:Grain on his hands isnt showing up great :/Wicked dolls: Marionettes:Last pic shows the bases well, coffee stirrers and thin lines of brown paint Will get a whole crew pic up when my stitched togethers arrive, and I paint them C&C greatly appreciated
