  1. Apologies if this has been covered, I can't find a reference, and I don't have a book to hand for spell names etc. In last night's game – Sonnia vs Rasputina – we had an incident arise that we couldn't agree on. A Silent One cast the spell that heals models with frozen heart and wounds models without. My Witchling Stalker resisted and got Reflect Magic trigger. Question – would the Silent One take the wounds intended for the Witchling or would it actually be healed because it has frozen heart as per the spell wording? Or would the Witchling not actually get the Trigger because the spell was not targeting him as such but is actually a pulse (if I remember correctly)?
  2. I've just started playing Sonnia and didn't feel I spent three turns walking. The first turn in almost every game ends up just moving your crew around. The next turn, maybe two I spend setting up the big hit whilst my minions begin nicking wounds off several models (assuming the strategy/scheme involves killing the opposition). If you feel hamstrung by Sonnia's lack of movement I would suggest trying Perdita – she can run halfway across the board in a single turn if you wanted her to. However, I've had her unsupported in more than one game because she's too fast and her crew can't keep up.
  3. I'm whipping out my Perdita as we speak and have Criid waiting in the wings. Loving the Guild right now!
  4. Ooh! I know Jon at H&K from years at the Mayhem tournaments! He'll look after you!
  5. I chose the models I liked the most when picking my starting crew. As it turned out I chose one of the easier masters to learn – Lady J – and have moved on from there. The boxset was a great starting point, then after a couple of games getting my head around the rules and reading several very useful posts on the forum here I bought a couple of additional models to add to the crew. Once I had a handle on that crew I started looking to masters and crews with different styles of play. If you're anything like the rest of us you'll have several crews in no time at all – this is a very addictive game and the models are fantastic. The beauty is it doesn't need to be an expensive learning curve with Malifaux.
  6. Does this mean the next episode of the Aethervox will be delayed by a further fortnight? Enjoy your visit to the UK.
  7. I have to say I'll be devastated if it does turn out to be Avatar Lady J – the current model and character is so cool and this is just a Halloween mickey take illustration. :disappoin
  8. Congrats. I see the camera worked out well, excellent shots. I have to tell everyone that these miniatures look amazing in person as my Lady J crew faced them on Friday then we swapped crews and I used this crew.
  9. Good idea with the bird research! Going back to your original post– I use a can of Testors Dullcote I picked up from Firestorm Games on my minis. I was really nervous about wrecking them but I gave each model a couple of good coats with the spray and you can hardly tell there's anything on there.
  10. Absolutely love the Austringer! He's the next model on my painting schedule and I might have to pinch your colour scheme!
  11. Thx Sholto – I guessed as much – I'll just have to make sure my Austringer is more than 12" away
  12. Just a quick thought… An Austringer misses a Raptor Strike against a Convict Gunslinger and triggers Faster'n You. Assuming the Austringer is within 12" and out of LoS of the Gunslinger, would this trigger work as intended or does the Gunslinger need LoS to deal the damage? It doesn't say so in the trigger text and states "as if it had hit the attacker" but the Gunslinger would need LoS under normal Strike conditions so just wondered how this would play out.
  13. I would like to assure the public that, after an operation spanning several delicate hours, we have completed the nipple transplant and the big man can live out the remainder of his life in complete normality and free from ridicule. @jeff The quick answer is GW Bestial Brown and Bleached Bone and tonnes of water. There is probably about 50-60 (thin) layers of pain on there and the odd thin Devlan Mud wash and shadow.
  14. Lovely figures, very clean and crisp. Love what you did with the bases too.
  15. Very nice - who's paints did you use?
  16. Hehe, no his base size is correct – if nobody guesses I'll post the answer – the devil's in the detail
  17. Finally got time to finish the next model in my crew. Can anyone spot the deliberate mistake?
  18. It was months/years playing Necromunda that hooked me into Malifaux, so the idea of covering multiplayer games in more depth would be most welcome. We are already planning a story/character driven campaign with our games here – revolving the story around a single Master and the crews and individuals he/she comes up again during their quest – so anything developed along those lines would be great. I also want to translate a map-based campaign I did for 40k some years ago. As for alternative sculpts, I'm not too concerned. There are very few models that require multiples and, as Ratty has demonstrated with his fantastic Kirai crew, alternatives can be achieved with a few cuts and a bit of greenstuff (or unique sculpts if that's your thing). Alt sculpts of the masters is something that could be interesting in the future as limited/special editions.
  19. I love the idea of a story-diven campaign but I would definitely NOT want to see the size of the game increased – it is one of the main reasons I switched to Malifaux in the first place …the character driven aspect and it's a SKIRMISH sized game. If I wanted to play something bigger I'd play an alternative game!
  20. Some great looking buildings there …and kudos for stepping up to help the store promote Malifaux!
  21. @SS Yes this was all GW paints. I have The Executioner and an Austringer on the way along with the Ortegas, but then I'm drawn to paint something completely different like Seamus or Rasputina – decisions, decisions!
  22. So I finally finished the bulk of my Lady J crew and took some "official" photos for my blog. For those who enquired I thought I'd post them here. Still got a couple of Death Marshals to complete but will be moving on to Ortegas soon.
