  1. Sorry, I had posted a question that was clearly answered in the rulebook...ooops
  2. Almost finished... for the game on Sunday. Should be fun! For comparison: Hans: Ht 1.5 inches, Weight 0.4 oz Kiljoy (including his cleaver): Ht 2.5 inches, Weight 1.8 oz Lazarus: Ht 3 and a bit inches, Weight: 9.5 oz ! Heavy Metal Rocks! ---------- Post added at 04:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:39 AM ---------- And a pic of the back...
  3. I was thinking pretty much the same but it was there so I used it. Changed it this evening, now has a loader with 'cannon balls' and fuses and a steam powered barrel. Not so lop-sided now. (The bayonet fell off and I forgot to glue it back on before taking the pics.)
  4. I want to try out Lazarus so I made a proxy up last night/ tonight using a Warmachine Kador Behemoth and a few odd bits. It's on a 40mm base and stands 3.5 inches to the top of the grenade launcher. The trapped soul (in his chest) is a 40K tank commander head with thin wire heated and then stuck in. The 'housing' is a 40K tank searchlight back, the hoses are from a pendant chain and the wrench is from Captain Arlane Strangewayes. Probably a bit bigger than he should be for Ht 3 but fairly close to the fluff. All I need to do now is paint it - any ideas for a colour scheme?
  5. Hi Marko, Von Schill's are awesome! I love the pumpkins and wanted posters. How did you make your trees and leaves? Madame Sybelle (Collette) is cool - very nice paint job - and much prettier and alluring than fat sybelle! I must have a go at your river technique - stunning - so when I have finished Mike's boards I am going to make some more to the set for myself and my cousin Matt (he - and his girlfriend Abby - are just getting into the game, so I have semi-permanently loaned them Zoraida, Collodi and Leveticus sets with a few extras to paint up and play). Good luck with the Empire Wizard - cool idea for fund raising! Inspiring work! Keep them coming.
  6. Wow! Just can't get over the quality and detail you manage to put into all your projects. I really love the the Von Schills - pumkins and all - but your boards blow my mind! I must have a go at your river techniques and get that fogger unit... So many ideas and never enough time! Keep them rolling out. Good Luck with the Empire wizard - great idea for fund raising - hope to see some pics when finished.
  7. Hi Demonn Just a short break for some fun, but itching to get back into it. Have you settled into your craftroom yet? I'd like to see how you have set it up, and whether you have organised a His and Hers section to lure your girlfriend into the hobby! Hope to see some more stunning masterpieces soon. Chris
  8. It's been all play and no work in the mining town for the last two weeks. The boards have been at Mike's so that he had a chance to use them before he goes off gallivanting around South Africa, seeing relations and demoing Puppet Wars and Malifaux. They are going off on Monday... so Sunday we're getting some games in and then the boards are coming back here for work to continue! Lots still to do, so watch this space.
  9. Well done! Look forward to seeing some interesting projects develop, and Von Schill!
  10. Thanks - Hope to be back on it next week and get the first floor finished. Too much time and too little to do - scrub that - reverse - more like it :ballchain
  11. Almost an answer! But a great idea! Anybody got a steam-powered tablet - got to keep it true to the game.
  12. The Steamborg Executioner was standing there, arms spread wide. He cried out "Why me?", having just been badly mauled by the Mature Nephilim, and not even given the chance to activate and vent his displeasure as there were more pressing matters to occupy the concerns of Ramos. Lelu saw an opportunity and jumped in, claws slashing, and before the poison even had a chance to run through his cybernetic veins the Executioner was nothing more than a pile of scrap. An ignominious end - he came to the party and didn't get a chance to dance! Exit Executioner!
  13. Great offer and most appreciated but I would love to see some bigger OFFICIAL stat cards so they can be used in competitions etc as well. Just a hope... Thank you for the thought though!
  14. What I was trying to say was it would be nice if there was a choice - small cards look good and sit on the table well, but for some of us it makes playing the game harder (and slower) so if there was an option to buy bigger (good quality) stat cards I think many of us would be happy to pay for them. :deal:
  15. I have a magnifier lens that I carry in my Malifaux bag and even took a halogen type spotlamp with me last night to ensure there was enough light to see! And it worked - had a great game!
  16. Great idea! I will have a play and see what I can do. As for glass - i usually use 'blister pack' plastic but I do have some of the overhead projector plastic but never thought of printing onto it - nice one! The roof overhang is steep but short and there is 2.5 inches from the lowest point to the balcony (which is 60mm wide) so there should be plenty of room. The stairs were redesigned to be a single (steep) run - very similar to your pic but sitting on top of the cells. As for the safe - great pic - I hadn't really designed it yet other than it was going to be big and bulky. Thanks for all the ideas - Cheers!
  17. Sorry about the lack of pics...I have had very little time this week to do much and have a hectic weekend ahead to get things finished ready for the start of the arena build next week. On the good side, I had an afternoon off yesterday and took the boards up to Mike for his (late) Christmas / birthday present. Mike did a demo game with the two boards together and they worked well - and even had a Mature Nephilim fighting behind the shop counter at one stage. The only slightly awkward place was on the mining board where you go down the steps and under the drop ramp - enough room to place the figures but as the rail-truck was under the ramp it was tricky getting your hand in. Not a big problem, and the truck moves anyway. The lines of sight were great, and even though with the two boards together it is only 3' by 18" it didn't feel restrictive for a 35 Soulstone game. And taking pics was fun: Mature Nephilim 'carrying' Primordial Magic Into the Fray Lelu vs. The Steamborg Executioner Mature Nephilim down to 1 wound thanks to the Convict Gunslinger. Lilith's lucky escape - saved by the Black Joker! The Mining Board is completely ready for action, but the Beam Engine board is back here for more work. Just got to make some time...
  18. I love Malifaux! Fantastic concepts and brilliant background stories, great gaming method, drool over the models - painting them and seeing how others paint them, and playing the game! But hate the stat cards... Not because of the design - that's great; not because of the complexity - the depth of the characters is awesome, and I like the pics... It's the minuscule size of them. Okay, so they fit into the blister packs, but try playing in any sort of poor light (most gaming venues) and you are straining to see what's printed - especially the grey and colours on black. I can scan and enlarge the cards and laminate them but that's a lot of cards to do and doesn't help when you want to check out an opponent's card 'cause you're not familiar with the model. I saw the new Puppet Wars cards last night and they're excellent! Wyrd sell stat-cards - oh why can't they please produce bigger (laminated) one's for those of us that don't have perfect eyesight! Twice the size would halve the eyestrain and make playing sooo much easier! Am I the only one that would like bigger stat cards or even a choice?
  19. The second board is finally coming together now and the Beam Engine is stuck on, the river is painted and varnished, the feed pipe and mine water outlet is on and the grill is covering the sluice-way. The steps up to the top of the coal bunker are painted and flocked and a bit more flocking has been done on the walls and around the board. So I wanted to see what it will look like with the top floor on the Guild House... This is going to be all timber clad and have two rooms - one is the Marshal's Office and the other is the Counting Room, with a safe and desk etc. There is a long balcony at the front which will have the 'shop' sign on, but I have decided to put another balcony at the side to bring that corner of the board into play. Access to the top floor is by steps that will go over the cells. The Roof slopes gently to the back but falls sharply at the front and partially overhangs the balcony. There will be a large desk, bookcase, chairs and a stove in the Marshal's Office and probably paintings, maps and charts etc. on the walls. The Windows to the Counting Room will have mesh in them but the Office window will be 'glass'. Here are the original sketches: And this is the progress so far: All the walls and floor are made out of 3mm ply for strength but will be covered with boards and stained on the outside of the walls and painted on the inner walls. The roof will be made in one piece, as will the staircase, and all three sections can be taken off to allow access to the various parts.
  20. I too had problems with pics when I started here. My solution was to upload everything I wanted to show to Picasaweb, and create albums for each thread. The second problem i had was I would right click the thumbnail and copy the URL to paste into the 'Insert Picture' icon here. This meant that all my pics were very small (because they were still thumbnails). With a bit of help and advice from some clever people here, I realised that I had to open the pic in Picasa before copying the URL and now success! I have noticed over the last week or so - since Wyrd did the Xmas snow (which was great by the way) that peoples' pics stored within the Wyrd site are often failing to open - hopefully this will be rectified soon but in the meantime I would suggest Picasa or similar photo sites to upload to. Hope this helps and keep posting!
  21. Phew! Impressive and challenging, but looks very playable. A nice variety of features in the different rooms - should be an interesting project to do. So you've just got to get the decorating done (and convert the girlfriend) and then prepare the craftroom and then... So we should see some progress soon...?
  22. This one is going to be low-tech ( hand powered), but thinking of making a Clacks tower at some stage - could be cool - for a later board...No 5 or 6 possibly. There is still so much to do for this board that I think I aught to keep it (reasonably) simple. Just hoping that when I get home from work tonight that I will have the energy and inspiration to preform great deeds and accomplish miniature miracles...but at the moment I think I would just be happy to go home.
  23. Let him walk, it will do him good...no really it's a great idea! Like the idea of the staggered floors - looking forward to seeing the sketches....
