  1. I don't think it's actually mentioned in the rules (but I don't have them memorized... yet) , and this might be a time where common sense comes to save the day. If it's unbreakable, and arguably tall enough that the blast can't "lap over" the top, then in my games, I'd say the model on the other side is safe. ~ SemanticDM
  2. My LGS owner is getting sick and tired of my constant "Is the new book ordered yet?!?" inquiries. Poor guy, still need to teach him how to play. He'll be happy to know that they should be in soon. ~ SemanticDM
  3. The really nice thing about bringing back the Voodoo Doll is that your opponent has a tendency to go out of their way to keep everything outside of LOS of Zoraida, and any place she could summon the VD. Lets you maneuver a whole lot easier. :-D ~ SemanticDM
  4. Welcome, Rob! There are a handful of other games out there that use 30mm bases. I won't mention them, but you should be able to ask at your local game shop for them. The Wyrd 30mm bases are exactly the same as the other games, however, and a couple bucks cheaper. Only downside is that most gameshops I've seen don't stock them, and you'll have to wait for a special order. ~ SemanticDM - Edit, reread and forgot to add a modifier to my last sentence.
  5. It's not entirely worthless. I don't have the book with me, but going off of what's written: You draw 7 or 8 cards. That's 7 cards that you're looking at - not quite 15% of your deck. You have a higher chance of getting multiple 13s or the red joker, and you also get any low cards out of your deck and hand for the turn. I have no problem drawing 7 cards and discarding a 2 or two from my hand.
  6. Ditto this. I know I'm going to order the special LE stuff from the site (since, you know, my FLGS can't order it...) Otherwise, I'd rather spend my money at the store where I already spend most my free time. ~ SemanticDM
  7. Also stuck at work. Have a ton (okay, 3) co-workers who made the trip. Leaving me to do their work for them... Double grr. But, will be ordering the LE LCB as soon as I can - probably this afternoon. ~ SemanticDM
  8. Yeah, I realized that after I posted. Which I should have known before - the podcasts I listen to are all about Gencon, and I've got coworkers out there now - leaving me to do their work for them. Grrr. Oh well, they're going to pick up toys for me to play with while they're out there. :-D ~ SemanticDM
  9. Unfortunately, this isn't a rare occurrence. A friend of mine picked up Lilith, and also had no cards, and is also waiting to hear back from Wyrd. Other people in the forums have mentioned the same problem, and Wyrd has normally been really good about making amends. Once Gencon is over, they should be back up to speed. ~ SemanticDM
  10. I understand that part, but for a site that is community oriented, it would be nice to have information on individual stores that sell their product. I know several other games companies that have store locaters. It's often up to the individual store in question to contact the company to say "I carry your product, could you please add me to your list of stores?" AEG has their searchable Stronghold Store program, Mayfair has a list broken out by country/state, Days of Wonder has a searchable database, etc. AFAIK, none of these companies distribute directly to stores either, but go through the major distributers... With the Henchman program, it shouldn't be too tough to start even a rudimentary list, since the app asks for the local store the Henchman is nominally based out of... And, when travelling, it makes it easy to find out if there's a store that hosts Malifaux game nights to hang out in. ~ SemanticDM
  11. Hi all, I was looking through the site, and noticed that the "Where to buy Wyrd" link has info for distributors, rather than FLGS's that sell products. Since most distributors won't sell direct to consumers, this doesn't help the average user of the site, and FLGS owners _should_ already know where to go to get their distributors info. Anyway, just my idea about how to make the site more useful. ~ SemanticDM P.S. In Iowa, I know that Tempest Games in Cedar Rapids, and The Core in Cedar Falls (Waterloo?) also carries Wyrd.
  12. Hello Kreggurree! I just got into the game myself. The card mechanic is very novel and interesting. I have yet to play my first game, but the rules seem fairly straight forward and easy to understand. Welcome to the forums, and good luck with garnering soulstones! ~ SemanticDM
  13. Hi all, Just picked up Malifaux a couple days ago, and decided to go with the Neverborn - for no other reason than the fact that there's a model called "Bad Juju". There's a few other wargamers that hang out at my FLGS that've picked it up as well. We're all in Cedar Rapids, IA and play Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. ~ SemanticDM
