  1. Hi guys As part of 'Fated Festival' organised with Flipside Café, Sunderland This will be a 3 round event set at 50ss for each game. Here's the twist This is an open faction event, there is no requirement to declare to the TO which factions the player intends to use through the day. At the start of each round, players will announce which faction they are taking to their opponent. And note it on their respective scoresheets. They will then open the sealed envelope which the TO has provided. Inside the envelope will be a piece of paper listing the deployment type, strategy and schemes available for this game. Guests are encouraged to dress in their most sterotypical British attire (e.g. Bowler hats, waistcoats etc) On the Saturday Connor will be running a story encounter called 'Sins of the North' Besides these two events there will be other games available inc. Guildball and X-wing. Also there will be open gaming Friday and Saturday night and a demonstration of historical swordplay on the Sunday. Prices: £15 a day (lunch Included) £30 for weekend £20 if staying over (breakfast included) £40 for the weekend (breakfast included) Dinner will be extra charged on the day. Bar and snacks avaliable all day and night. Tickets available via paypal to sales@worhamma.com Please send as a GIFT Please state which event and day you are buying tickets for on the Paypal message. Rules pack is available from https://www.dropbox.com/s/dt580e5jys95vqd/Crumpetfaux.pdf?dl=0 1. Dave Johnson 2. Maria Wieland 3. Connor Barker 4. Scott Parkin 5. Mike Marshal 6. Ben Harris 7. 4. The strategies for the story encounter will be Round 1: Shindig + Turf war Round 2: Governor's Charity Auction Round 3: Jailbreak The rules for The Governor's Charity Auction are:- Masters have been invited to attend the Govenors charity auction where they will offer up the souls of their crew members to charge soulstones to help erm... orphans or something you people seem to care about. No master wants to be outdone in the bidding so will go to any length to win. Rules: Strategy At the start of every turn from Turn 2 onwards, each player will secretly note a non-leader model in their crew currently in play. Only models hired with this crew before the game may be noted. At the end of the turn the noted model, if still in play, is sacrificed and entered as that Master's 'bid' A player will score 1VP for strategy if their sacrificed models soulstone value (inc. Upgrades) was equal to or greater than their opponents bid.
  5. Hi Folks, The kind owners of Flipside Cafe, Sunderland have let me have use of their cafe on Saturday March 12th to help raise money for WAAC (https://www.justgiving.com/waac) This will be a 3 round 50ss Story Encounter tournament for 8 players But there's a twist... Each table will have a collection box next to it, and you can pay £1 for a , or to be able to cheat on a Black Joker. Entry to this event is free, but due to limited space we have to ask that you send £5 via PayPal (as a gift) to sales@worhamma.com. This will be refunded to you on the day at sign-in. But, due to the limited space in the cafe we have to ensure that everyone who says they are coming will be coming. The tournament pack will follow shortly with a list of the strategies, including rules for ALL NEW story encounter strategy I have written especially for this event. The tournament will be held at:- Flipside Cafe 26b Stockton Road Sunderland Tyne & Wear SR1 7AQ On: March 12th, 9:30am There's all day parking behind the cafe and Park Lane interchange is less than 2 minutes walk from the venue. Hope to see you there.
  6. As you say, they're apples and oranges. Sometimes I like to offer the best apples, other times, the best oranges.
  7. One of the things I've always enjoyed in Wargaming are scenarios with a strong narrative element e.g. Historical reenactments campaign stages special objectives basically things with a little more context than a standard pitched battle. Story encounters offer this along with a chance to have a more lighthearted game while telling a story with my opponent. A lot of the older players which go to my club also like story encounters for much the same reason. IMO Malifaux being a 'character-driven skirmish game' has the most character when telling a story with some of the personalities of this rich setting.
  8. Re: Story encounters Maybe rather than have rankings, how would people feel about a set of open regional events where you could qualify for an invitational final? The invitational would be the conclusion to the overall narative of the linked story encounter games.
  9. Re: Story encounter Masters. Perhaps have the criteria for 'winning' being more than just scoring the most VP. Solving mysteries, resolving stories, most achievement points etc... A bit vague, I know, but it's an idea.
  10. Thanks Dave. I can't wait to get a few games of it in.
  11. There's going to be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town. That somewhere is Flipside Café on October 17th from 10am-5pm. Come along to Flipside and have as many games of Malifaux as you want. The one condition is, your strategy will be Jailbreak. Tajima concepts has provided me with 3"x3" jail cells to ensure the games look the part. http://www.tajimaconcepts.com/product-p/cell-01.htm So if this sounds like the sort of thing you'd be interested in come along to:- Flipside Café 26b Stockton Road Sunderland Tyne & Wear SR1 7AQ Entry is free, and there will be an excellent selection of drinks (hot and cold) and food (paninis etc) available to purchase in the cafe. There is an all day car park just behind the venue, less than 2 minutes walk away, and has very reasonable rates. See you there.
  12. Hey guys, I'll be running a Malifaux demo night at my local club this Thursday I'll be there from 7 at:- St. Anne's Church Hall Hylton Toad Sunderland Tyne and Wear SR49AA
