  1. wonderful article ghool. Always insightful painting advice from you.
  2. actually i have it from an inside source that they will probably be releasing this model online for at least a little while ( though i might be wrong, things change). Also as far as Odingrandson's model goes, it looks very nice. It's neat to see all the different anime style eyes on different models. Though i am partial being such a fanboy of this game. I love the depiction of cola
  3. It's a great game. I've been a huge fanboy for two years now. Go through the archives for my blog to find a pretty good review. http://livininagamerparadise.blogspot.com/ games changed since then but I can say ( having helped playtest it) that it's still super fun.
  4. FInally got my hands on one of these and am super excited about them! I finished em up and had a lot of fun with them. I forgot how much fun the SDE miniatures are to paint. To keep in theme with the game i put a selection box around her on the base and since she is a LE mini i put Bonus on her base. like you unlocked her in the game hehe. Her color scheme was chosen because her powers remind me of a red mage. peace out, AZ
  5. Ya don't be afraid to really push the high and low lights. The worst thing that can happen is you mess up a miniatures and learn something. The stuff looks very good so far. The ability to keep the colors clean and consistent is very important ( especially in the base coats). There seems to be a basic solid foundation that has been built and now you can start really pushing your colors. One other word of advice i would give is to start learning what kind of color combinations people use to highlight. That in my opinion is the most important thing, the color combinations. There is some tricky stuff out there such as using a dark dark blue to lowlight reds. Also basing. People underestimate the importance of basing in the finished miniature. Neglecting this is like doing a portrait and painting the background black . good job though, really like sadie.
  6. Recipe is quite easy. Hawk turquoise base with black/HT for lowlights and White/HT for highlights. It's a tricky color to get though since it tends to wash out or darken quite quickly. Vallejo is my brand.
  7. i have done a Malifaux review for Handcannon a while back. Sadly and a little guiltily i have not yet played puppet wars. Partly due to money and partly due to the i don''t think i can get into another game right now.
  8. Hey thought i would share this review with you guys. It's a pretty cool "deckbuilding" game if your into that. http://livininagamerparadise.blogspot.com/ peace out, AZ
  9. Hey all. It's been a while since i actually managed to finish a miniature. I haven't been able to paint anything i really like, so it was an accomplishment just to finish these two guys. I have about 4 unfinished miniatures on my desk that will proabbly not be finished for years now. Anyway on to the pics First up Kirai's avatar, Base was sculped by me. Next up is the spirit of lost love. The bamboo is just painted paperclips ( which i use for everything from pinning to bamboo ) peace out all, thanks for looking, AZ
  10. So does anyone know what happened to bartertown.com? I have been trying to access the site for a Couple of days and I always get a blank screen or server not found. Maybe they are down for maintenence ? Any insight would help appease my curiosity. Peace az
  11. prayers with you graz, take the time to rest!
  12. Looks wonderful tuesday!, I am also assuming your just putting her on a single 35 mm base. If you do that i would not add anything else to it. a complex model needs a simple base.
  13. Topic is here under miniature matters: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12465&highlight=undead+flesh
  14. Here are a couple of more pictures, oh man i HATE that there are little white spots that you cant see unless you take a pictures!!
  15. Nope I appreciate the constructive criticism ( used to show art in galleries so I have thick skin). I'll see what I can do about getting a few more shots of the mini and base. I apreciate all the input
  16. SO here is an experiment that took me so far out of my box that i don't know if I can crawl back in. I picked this nice little chica up from my friends at Cool Mini or Not and Soda Pop Miniatures ( Hey Deke, John, and Chris!) while at Pax East a while back. Recently i have been pushing myself to get better because I have painfully realized DGraz has gotten way better than me at painting in the past year ( heres looking at you Graz!). For Candy and Cola I primed them white ( shudders) and used glazes, matt mediums and my brand new really tiny ( never had one that small) Windsor Newton 0/1 series 7 brush. While i feel like i got some...different... results i feel like i am kind of skewed in opinion since i am always so close to my models ( they have little pieces of me in them( no really, ive glued my skin to many on accident). So if any of you who have seen my other minis would like to contrast and compare to this one i would greatly appreciate the feedback. I have some important commissions/projects to paint for clients and I have been torn as to what kind of techniques i should employ to get the best results! Thanks, AZ
  17. Hmmm, i got into fantasy first ( never a big fan of 40k) then i really focused on the "fanatic games" like gothic and mordheim and such. Then warmachine was released and i was all over it, had some hordes going too. Heroclix was and still is a favorite of mine. Then I started playing specialty board games and card games ( steve jackson, settlers, robo rally ect). Malifaux was discovered when it came out and i loved it. Now i have been all over the Indy games, everyone one i can find. I have developed a passion for reviewing and painting new stuff, like Bushido, anima, rusted heros, uncharted seas, relic knights, SDE, ect ect. Needless to say it can get expensive, but it helps when to pimp out my painting skills and trade old stuff on bartertown and such. Keeps the cost of all those indy games down
  18. hmmm i don't think i have gotten into this yet but since it was brought back from the dead here is my workspace. We live in a small house/apartment thingy and the roll top desk lets me keep this in the living room while being able to close it when we entertain or ( gasp ) don't want to think about miniatures. The GW paint station was a godsend, can't tell youhow many desks i have ruined before it came out... plus its portable . I keep things my wife gave me posted around the staion, hence the snoopy valentines and colored pictures.
  19. Hey all, a few more infinity models for my client. I am pretty happy with these guys. They are not based because he does not wants to base them himself. The wife insists that this one is Donatello from TMNT... peace out, AZ
  20. yes, the graininess is just due to thick paint, (unless its the primer but it looks like you handprimed). Try some matt medium to thin the paint a little more while keeping the consistency. Also try a bannana yellow highlight in your fleshtone to keep the punch of it's color. but its wonderful to see your WIP progress tuesday. I love your stuff and look forward to seeing the rest of this come together.
  21. Looking good. Dont discredit the basing though. A decent basing job will make them look even better!
  22. Hey all, So the wife and I were playing some board games and we came up with a new way to play Sorry!. We had a lot of fun and it even kept me interested. i put up the rules on my blog here: http://livininagamerparadise.blogspot.com/2011/06/sorry-or-heartfelt-apology.html peace out, AZ
  23. Hey all, Check out my kings of war review on my blog. This article will also be featured in handcannon eventually. http://livininagamerparadise.blogspot.com/2011/06/kings-of-war-review.html Peace out, AZ
  24. Lightbulbs. go find a smallish lightbulb, measure the circumfrence of your base with yarn and then find the appropriate area around the lightbulb. Tie the yarn around the lightbulb and light it on fire. then after the fire sets for a minute drop it in a pre prepared cold water imediatly. Then you have your container (here they do it with a coke bottle but the principle is the same: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/968599/how_to_cut_a_bottle/). Now that you have the vessel fill it almost to the brim with water and snow glitter stuff, apply a ring of glue to the base of the figure and put the figure into the vessel and let the glue set. add some extra glue to make sure its sealed. BAM snow globe. Alos MAKE SURE your figure is DULLCOATED! hope that idea helps. I have not done it myself but i think it will work in theory.
