  1. Also please note that it's defense only, so it doesn't do anything against Harmless or Terrifying either. -Patrick
  2. That is so wrong... I love it.
  3. Seeing as how one is at $202.50 with 10 hours left on eBay, that's not a bad price.
  4. Cool, only an hour and a quarter(ish) away. Oneof the wonderful things about TX... bigger than some countries. :)

  5. Very nice. I love the fishnet hose. That's also one of the best Wendigo's I've seen yet. Nice simple and effective. (Why is the simple things are hard?) -Patrick
  6. If I may ask.. where in TX? I'm in Copperas Cove near Fort Hood. -Patrick

  7. Assembly: Several of the mnis are 'fidly' with very small contact surfaces. A pin vice and very small drill bits are almost a requirement. Several people have said they have no issues, but at least an even number have had nightmares doing assembly. Malifaux minis are the second I've ever needed a superglue 'kicker' on. (first being 1st edition PP Satyxis) Mold lines: a few issues with mold lines, but not many. Definitely no worse than the competetors and usually far better. For the most part these have been very nice and I have to assume that Wyrd is changing out molds frequently. Detail etc. compared to other miniature lines: Detail is excellent IMO and comparable to Rackham's metal minis. I'm not overly thrilled with the static look of some of the minis (Teddy comes to mind, I love the mini but at the same time it just looks to static to me) A few of the minis just don't appeal to me at all, but that is personal taste: The Fleash Construct and the Mosquito being the two I dislike the most. Conversions are not easy at all in my opinion (except for the occasional head swap as my sculpting abilities are pretty much nil)
  8. My opinions (mileage may vary) Pros 1. The Miniatures (Low investment cost, the sheer variety, thematic) 2. The Rules (A card based system that works!) 3. The Fluff (is one of the few games where it just all fits) 4. The Humor (Wyrd is not afraid to poke fun) Cons 1. The Errata. Which Errata is the right one? The official? the extra? Even if they don't want to release V2 of the rulebook (and I don't blame for not wanting too) the lack of a solid Errata is (again IMO) the single biggest flaw that Malifaux has) 2. Lack of an index in the rulebook. 3. The way the rules are spread out in the rulebook. 4. Some of the minis are 'fidly', and I've been gaming for a while. (on a par with the old PP Satyyxis) all that said do I think the Pros outweigh the Cons? Yes, without a doubt. Will I keep asking questions and work on getting things clarified? Yes, because I like the game that much. -Patrick Do I get a bit pedantic? Yes. Try being an Instructor for 5 years and not be...
  9. Nice mini. I like I also had a Dr. Who moment: "Are you my mummy?"
  10. Would you let me know when your next demo / game day is please? I live a little too far away for league play, but would like to play occasionally. I'm in Copperas Cove, TX just west of Fort Hood about an hour and a half (ish) away from DL...

  11. I really wanted to come up there to play... but it's a 3 1/2 ride one way... Is there a 'master list' of Henchmen?
  12. I love just about every Wyrd miniature... one of the few exceptions being the Flesh Construct. It just doesn't work for me... I wouldn't use a proxy while demoing the game, but probably will for my own use. not exactly a meat hook.... Well, maybe a real big one. code 60029
  13. I'm in Copperas Cove TX, just outside of Fort Hood... The nerd-cave is my garage. I love having my own 6x4 gaming table. I don't know how the gaming is up where you are, but Austin is the nearest place that has Malifaux that I have. There are three game stores in the area and none carry Malifaux as a regular item. They will order it, but none actually have it in stock. As soon as i get my second crew painted up I already have permission to do some demoing at Battlefield games in Killeen Tx. Which is better for Demo against a Lilith box set: Seamus or Vicktoria?
  14. One comment... Don't do the 'dot' method for eyes. It makes them look bugeyed. Instead, make a small vertical line from the center top of the white of the eye to the bottom center. Look at your own eyes in a mirror and notice how you don't see the whites of your eyes at the top or bottom unless you force it. -Brandubh And now having watched St. Trinian's again, I'm oh so tempted to get this set....
  15. To-may-to, To-mah-to. Whatever gets you through the day... :tongue2: edit: Thanks for the idea for my custum user title Godspeed.
  16. The ManCave... 3/4 of a garage with carpet, AC and other nice stuff... Uhmmm... I'm just going to post the links cause these pics are kinda big. http://s1006.photobucket.com/albums/af186/Brandubh_DeSantini/?action=view&current=Photo115.jpg& http://s1006.photobucket.com/albums/af186/Brandubh_DeSantini/?action=view&current=Photo114.jpg& http://s1006.photobucket.com/albums/af186/Brandubh_DeSantini/?action=view&current=Photo113.jpg& http://s1006.photobucket.com/albums/af186/Brandubh_DeSantini/?action=view&current=Photo112.jpg& edit: I just received the lighted showcase as a birthday present.
  17. Nice catch... And I agree with you. Would like to get an official Alternate for flesh golem. Also really want a female alternate for The Hanged.
  18. Here's two you might look at: Reaper03391: Maugramak, Ghast Hero and Necorpolis Ghast 14502 [url=http://www.reapermini.com/pages/figure_finder_image.php?sku=03391_w_2.jpgℑ=3]
  19. Convict Gunslinger just because I wanted Seamus' Crew to be all feamle other than him and the Copycat. Mini is Pirvateer Press Iron Kingdoms Anyone know of any female Hanged?
  20. Looks very nice so far. As for shading white... Depends on if you are looking for a 'cold' look or a warm look. If cold, I shade with a very thinned out blue. (I usually use a 'midnight blue') For a warm, I use grey. Probably one of the best use all washes I've ever found is GW's Devlin Mud. I use it as a flesh wash (expecially faces) and also occasionally for shading white. Second school is to start with the shading and paint the white on progressively lighter as you get to the high points, but I can never get this to work right myself.
  21. Okay, just really looked at the sock picture. Please tell me it's gonna be in the puppet deck... Cause you know, with some of the jokes around here we need a good sockpuppet for the forum.
  22. Paint removal: Acrylic paint: you can use Pine Sol, Simple Green, Castrol Super Clean. Most of these you'll put in a small container, dilute some with water and let the mini soak in it. 6 to 24 hours normal for a soaktime. Pull the mini out,, use an old toothbrush and running tap water... Make sure you read the safety instructions on the container. A good all around page on painting minis: http://www.paintingclinic.com/MainClinic.dwt.htm edit: What type paints did you use? Hope that this helps, -Patrick
  23. Simple tricks: 1. Paint from the inside out. (flesh, then clothing, then stuff on the clothing, weapons) saves from trying to 'get into a tight spot'. Make sure you get full coverage of the area you are painting. if your paint is too thin you may have to do two (or more) coats for a nice solid shade. 2. Two (or more) thin coats are much better than one 'gloop'. It's like adding salt to the soup: you can always add... taking away can be a pain. 3. pick your basic skintone and then use a 'wash' for shadowing. I use GW's Devlin Mud, but there are plenty of flesh washes out there. Thin it a touch with water, and then 'paint' it onto the recesses of the skin. Make sure it is completely dry before going back over the raised portions of the mini very gently with the original skin tone color. 4. believe it or not, get a color wheel from any arts and craft store. I use one to help me pick my colors and what goes with what. Congrats on taking the plunge and painting! -Patrick Edit: Probably one of the most important pieces of advice I can give: Figure out whe to say "enough". There have been times where I was getting frustrated with the mini or when I wanted to add "just a little bit more..." That's usually when I screw up a decent paint job.
  24. I'm originally from Louisiana. Specifically: "Down da bayou" The Gremlins are scary funny. I know some sabines they remind me of...
  25. Copperas Cove, just outside of Fort Hood. You?
