  1. When it comes to cost I think there 2 you really need to look at: 1) Initial cost to get started 2) Upkeep cost to keep the game fresh So warhammer for instance I find has a pretty heavy initial and upkeep cost. Once you buy your army you can't easily make a small change to change the playstyle or update the army for a new addition. I found I more or less needed to completely redo the army. Warmachine and Hordes I find has a pretty heavy initial cost now to get started, but I find a pretty light/medium upkeep cost. My E.Thragrosh and P.Vayl have a lot in common, but because of the different warlocks they play very differently. Malifaux I find has a pretty low initial cost, but it does have an upkeep cost. Might be the factions I play (Guild) or look at (Gremlins), but I find if I want to change the play style or master I'm usually looking at buy a new crew with pretty low crossover with my existing master. Though this could also be a lack of experience with 2E on my part and not using the right pieces.
  2. Is the fluff in the new rulebook different than the first edition fluff?
  3. I've been looking at getting: Sonnia Govenor's Proxy 2 stalkers peace keeper Hopkins this would give me a 8cache at 35pts. Would it be worth adding an executioner/Ryle or run with the extra SS?
  4. A guild guard with the governors proxy should help a lot with moral duels.
  5. I use to have a huge problem with metal models and found that washing them first and using an exacto knife to lightly scrape along the joints helped me glue them in.
  6. Curious what people think of this list: Lucius: 3 soulstones Drill Sarge: 3 2x Guild Captains: 14 3x Guards: 12 Lawyer: 7 39/35 General idea is When Lucius activates his captains activate who activate 2 guards. Between the Drill Sarge and Lucius that is a lot of fire power. Lawyer helps provides some additional defense. Biggest issue I see with this force is speed (which hopefully won't be much of an issue with Lucius).
  7. I at first really agreed with that. When I got my Legion book I was extremely disappointed on the lack of new fluff. I than realized if there was serious fluff advancement in the forces books I would be very broke collecting all the books . Will wait for the new MK2 books (like wrath) to start advancing the story again. edit: hmmm TGN probaly should have put warmachine/hordes Mk2 together instead of as separate categories.
  8. Malifaux is a great game, but compared to how smooth warmachine/hordes MK2 rolled out Privateer really deserves to win. The rules are solid, the book wasn't covered in typos, (the small) errata was posted quickly, Mk2 versions of released models were shown for free on their website and new models are being released really fast.
  9. Just curious if people have tried hounds with Criid? Was looking at starting with Sonnia: +4 soulstones Hopkins: 8 Austringer: 5 2x witchling stalkers: 8 2x hounds: 6 total 30/30 edit: hmmm forgot to take into account the dogs ability. Think would be better to have 3 dogs or the full 8 cache?
  10. cheers to the guide so far. I'm looking to get started in Malifaux and leaning to go with Lucius as a master. though yeah wish he could work with a few more models. Executioner and Hounds seem like they should be part of his division.
  11. I know my meta has a lot of Guild players (any master) and Neverborn (mainly Pandora and Dreamer). Any tricks against the Neverborn or things to look out for?
  12. Just wondering does Tina have any good/specif strategies against other masters or is her plan always just blast everything away with December's Curse?
  13. So I ran this poll a while ago when I first heard of Malifaux. Just curious how much it has changed with the release of Rising Powers. Before the factions were pretty balanced with Ressurectionist a tad ahead. edit: For those that play more than 1 faction, choose your main one
  14. So Gryphcon is a gaming convention that happens at the University of Guelph. A few members from the Toronto Malifaux Group agreed to do some Malifaux demo's at Gryphcon. You can visit our website for more information. If you don't have models I can supply some Guild or Neverborn for people to see. Date: March 26-28 (march 27 for Malifaux) Time: 7-11 City, State: Guelph, Ontario, Canada Location/Store: University Center
  15. I think res might start to really pick up when a few more of their models come out. Canine Remains in particular would be nice for a McMourning force
  16. I'm kind of surprised actually. Based on my readings of battlereports it seemed like Guild and Arcanists really had the biggest fan base and the rest were a tad unrepresented.
  17. hmm i meant to click hidden until people voted don't think I can change it now
  18. Just curious what the most popular factions appear to be.
  19. interested in giving the game a try. When back for winter break going need to stop by some night.
