  1. Is that seriously what you think of this problem? That's it's the OTHER players? It's not a perception. It's reality.
  2. They don't have a monopoly, no, but they do have the best. Your argument would be valid if almost every model in the Arcanist range, or other factions for that matter, synergized well with Marcus. If a hefty chunk of Arcanists from book 2 were beasts, I'd be more inclined to agree, but that's not the case.
  3. That's what the fix should have been anyways. : \
  4. Unless you're wanting to run Molly. Curious why they really seem to be neglecting her.
  5. I'm not sure I disagree with this, although I've really not had the chance to fully digest all of them. But honestly, in my admittedly brief overview, how many of these avatars, across the board, would we consider tournament worthy? I'm not sure very many would pass that test. They look fun, and change the playstyle of many masters, but that in itself doesn't make them worthy.
  6. For much the same reason as Calmdown stated.
  7. This is simply not the case. It doesn't matter if the argument is well-reasoned or documented, people rush to the defense of their faction in a blinding flash, and usually in a much more passionate fashion. Facts have been ignored all over this thread, as an example, to those in defense of their precious Neverborn. I cannot believe that a counter-argument was presented as, "Well, be glad you got something." I've resorted to much the same, unfortunately. After presenting arguments, facts, and reasoned opinions, sometimes people have just had enough and get exasperated with this place.
  8. You know, it sounds funny, but I'd add that almost our entire Malifaux community, such as it is, does the same. They avoid this forum like the plague. I'm the only sucker who keeps trying.
  9. The only flaws I see that are some people fought tooth and nail to keep Neverborn exactly where they were on the power scale. Dreamer and Book 2 NB stuff was actually much worse in testing, but even changed a little, it wasn't enough, and those of us that tried to prove that in game testing and reports were countered at every turn. We were all so intent on trying to balance the crap out of the Dreamer and his minions, and fighting a few die-hard Neverborn players about it, that we weren't able to concentrate on another troubled Master, Hamelin. I don't know how else to say that Neverborn still has serious balance issues. You talk about gnawing your fingers off? I guess maybe I should have fought and posted ad nauseum to boost Hoffman instead. I'd have had better luck than convincing passionate players that their chosen faction was simply more than it should be.
  10. Nino is countered by a Stitched, easily. As is Sam, Stalkers and anything else with Hunter. As to your comment about players who kill their own models to get body parts. Ressers are forced to do that against Neverborn, in large part, due to the fact that they can't get body parts from your nightmares. I tried to argue this in testing, giving a lot of Book 2 Neverborn nightmare, woe and Nephilim was way too much. It'd be like giving all the Book 2 Guild stuff the Family trait. Alps are crazy, and not just because of the Bomb. Let's not forget that once they get close, if you have a melee force, get ready to take wounds because you'll be taking them once you start making strikes close to them, even if they aren't the target. Immune to Influence will help with the WP stuff, but not every crew will have this option, and crews playing against Neverborn will also have to consider that they may face Pandora, in which case that talent means nothing.
  11. That was one of our first questions after seeing the mats in the open play area. I'd love to see them in distribution.
  12. I think maybe instead of one big thread, you should make a seperate thread for each minion; maybe title it Guild Minion Database-Guild Guard.
  13. That's what I get for going off memory and earlier versions of Can't Connect. I think my point still stands, not sure I'd want too many high-point models staying very near to Hoffman.
  14. The wording you just gave shows that the Trapper is indeed targeting a construct. Ramos can choose not to be, thus ignoring that . If Ramos is not a construct when the Trapper targets him, how can you get that plus flip?
  15. No, because Ryle is never considered a friendly construct, so Maintain Machines wouldn't be able to go off, as it specifies 'friendly'.
  16. I don't understand some of the 'bleh' regarding the Hunter. I have two, and their comes in quite often. They are good out on their own, can flank, can set up charges and generally force your opponent to deal with them. Yes, Hoff+Peacekeeper will kill whatever they hit, but I find Hunters to be well worth including in my lists, for that extra option. Taking more living models means Hoffman can't be as efficient, and eliminates options. I've taken Ryle before, and he's good, but him never being a friendly model can be tough to get around.
  17. Quick question here, our group was going to buy TerraClips, but we wanted to see how many we would need. As an example, how many Street sets would we need for a 3'x3' board? Would one be enough for multiple levels, or two?
  18. Beat me to it. Witchling Stalkers are on top for me as well. Scout and Hunter is huge, they're cheap, and Sonnia can make more. They have a free anti-magic shell, excellent close combat stats, average range and a magic weapon. What's not to like there?
  19. I could've sworn the Vikki's won it, are you sure? Not that it matters, it's possible my memory is shot.
  20. BTW Nix, did you get all the stuff you bought at the booth all in order? I was the guy behind you on Thursday morning, thankfully only buying the book and about four models.
  21. Fetid, to add to your comment, I'm pretty sure the Vikki's won the first GenCon tourney, so they have been a strong choice all along. Agree with the rest of your comments in regards to Neverborn.
  22. The Exorcist and Handler are fantastic additions.
