  1. yeah, having a pair of models costing 7 stones each, and another costing 8 keeps his numbers down. at least now, the sabertooth has a little more bite.
  2. yep, all of the models currently released, and a few more for each faction, plus the totems!
  3. 25 is the way to go for me. Just enough wiggle room to experiement, but still small enough to get it going quickly. Oh for the days of 80 stone scraps and 12 Stone Ortegas...
  4. Much more fun to learn how to use "Take Ya With Me" effectively and then get someone else to make you "BOOM." I certainly how how to make it happen, and with a little planning, anyone can make it happen. Besides, if you're too hurt to "Take Ya With Me," just start making sure you're in melee. No one likes to have to think about being tied up with Loco but unable to hit him because he'll explode. And if you get there with wounds to spare, take a few melee swings. dinging yourself down to 1 Wd remaining only helps to force the issue. There's actually more depth to Papa Loco than most people think. He can actually be a pretty effective control model, especially if he's got cover and LoS blocking terrain.
  5. If you're fighting undead, you're at least not getting your tiger sniped as much.
  6. yeah, with no Soulstone cost, you'd be pretty hard pressed to figure out a way to "hire" her as a mercenary minion in a scrap anyway.
  7. it's a lot of fun to stand on top of a 3" tall piece of terrain and still smack people in the head. Plus, she just looks so damn cool.
  8. They're still only 3 stones for Zoraida. that's not bad.
  9. 2 test, 3 tests, either way. if the aura just extends the range, and you end up in both the aura and Sybelle's melee range, you're taking 2 tests, as they are separate effects.

well, they could, but I wouldn't want to see it.
  11. With Warpigs and skeeters, Teeth can hurt you something fierce. And you and your opponent both get to laugh when it's happening. Besides, there's no other master with anything nearly as cool as "Pull My Finger."
  12. graver robbers losing Search is going to help reign in the excessive summoning of the undead. and it makes models with search-like abilities more valuable.
  13. Tough to kill, great triggers, and the ability to summon more dead hookers. The Seamus box is great. Seamus himself is a much more powerful model than you seem to be ending up with in your games. I don't have stats in front of me, but I know Seamus is a lot more dangerous than you're making him seem. Yes, Belles aren't amazing in combat. Luckily, they've got Lure, Undress, and a nice trigger. And with the ability to activate together with Companion, they can put more than enough hurt on one model each turn.
  14. You only need to take each Wp test once. If 3 different things are causing 3 different Wp/Morale Tests, you're going to have to pass all 3 of them. Aren't all 3 of them different here? Hopefully your opponent can at least charge so that he's outside of Sybelle's melee range to avoid her test.
  15. you may choose to have your models fail any duel. and yes, you can totally Lure your own models, as per the text of the spell. It does not specify "target enemy model."
  16. Howl + Roar = sweet! Check the errata. Nothing like lowering Wp before the kitties get in on the fun.
  17. And to explain, a quick start guide would either leave you missing a huge hunk of the experience, or you'd end up with something that covers everything but the fluff and the individual model stats. Besides, the book is gorgeous!

    New in Va

Where are you at in VA? We've got a fair few MD/DC/VA folks around here.
  19. Wyrd's already got the tournament format roughed out. it will probably be tweaked a bit from what was shown at gen Con, but it should be following the same general principals. 1) both players play the same Strategy. 2) players may pick X number of schemes. 3) bring 2 legal lists for your faction. when you reach the "Hire Crews" step, choose which list you're going to run.
  20. Sure, the pigs are able to kick some serious ass when it comes to damage, but think about what it's like when you've got 12 Gremlins running around on the table. Sure, they can all get damaged pretty easily, but they're going to take someone out with them. And if you've got a strategy that involves having more models somewhere than your opponent, this is one of the prime swarms, especially since you can summon more. Only the Mindless Zombie technique can rival this one. Besides, why does a model have to be absolutely brutal in a tournament setting for people to want to play with it? Teeth is fun, 'nuff said. The gremlins were just too awesome to leave as minions for Zoraida, so they got their own sub-faction. They play exactly like you'd expect models to play that are back woods pig farmers who make their own hooch. Flying pigs and some mosquitoes just make the list even funnier, and give it some oomph. I've resisted the urge to complete my Gremlin crew so far, but I don't think I'll be able to hold out when more Gremlins come along.
  21. It's just a bit more efficient with Ramos because he can use Scrap counters to make more spiders for the whole "lather, rinse, repeat" thing. Spider bombs are no laughing matter. The Steamborg is that big scary chainsaw you're swinging around while you've got a syringe full of Draino™ in the other hand. If you ignore the chainsaw, it's going to hurt. It's going to hurt really bad, in fact. However, that syringe full of Draino is going to kill you almost instantly if you let someone get close enough to stick it into your neck. Ramos just makes all of these guys much cooler because he's got spells that are directly related to Constructs.
  22. The Ice Golem is the best "turret" in the game. get him where you need to defend, and sit him still. you're going to have a hard time cracking that armor, and he's got to take his 1 shot against you. You want to come in and hit him up close? Well, you'd better not kill him, because Shatter is cool. Yes, he's slow. Yes, he's easy to hit. But rest assured, he doesn't suck anywhere near as much as you guys are worried about. Like Nerd said, he's a bit harder to get a lot from in smaller games, but with only 2 or 3 more models on the table, he's suddenly able to get where he needs to be with less abuse, and then he just sets up camp and kicks ass. The Gamin suck just as much. You just don't notice it because you've got more of them on the table.
  23. She's definitely not as fragile up close as you think. Inferno and Absorb magic are great, and she's got the stones to burn to heal herself or resist damage. Use Flame Burst (with or Without Confiscated Lore) to close the distance, then kick her into melee mode. Inferno forces someone to have to try to disengage if they can't kill you outright. If you keep them there, they take the damage. If they kill you, they take more. Place a flame wall behind them to help keep them there. If you can get away with activating Sonnia near the end of the turn, charge a model that's already activated, then pop Inferno. "Oops, you've already activated and can't run away from the queen of witch burning? That's so sad. Here, see my tears? No? Oh, that's right; they've evaporated from the blazing inferno swirling around us. It's a good thing I'm wearing the fireproof coat." Absorb Magic can get you new cards, but it also takes cards away from your opponent. Never underestimate the power of control hand manipulation. Sonnia is actually an amazing melee Master. She just isn't the outright damage dealer that you see in Lady J, Lilith, or Victoria. I don't have my cards in front of me right now, but doesn't Flame Wall give cover as well?
  24. I'm not one to fall into that category as often as I seem to hear it. Now, if I bring home one of those big hunks of etched glass from Gen Con next year, then maybe I'll deserve that title. My Ortegas did make first cut in the overall unit category, though. And they were gaming models like yours.
