  1. I'll try to snag some pics (have to be careful of what I would post though, since I can't post pictures of minors at library events without parental permission). Last year my branch had over 80 tweens (ages 7-11) and teens come to our events (that I put together at the last minute without much advertising). So it went insanely well considering our highly advertised mega events normally only drawn in about 50 kids and teens. Most of them do come for the video games, but it's easy to get them to try the table top stuff once they are here. I really do recommend contacting your local library and seeing if they'd let you demo stuff, or set up an event. I know that not all libraries do the kind of stuff we do here at mine, but letting them know that you are interested in them participating in this national event could help stoke them some. And yes, it also does depend on which library you are talking about as to if this would work or not. I know here, we have several dozen teens that basically live here, so getting their interests and participation is very simple. Actually, the part that kind of saddens me is when I put on a teen event, and someone who just turned 19 comes in and I have to turn them away (our official cut off to be considered a 'teen' is 18). I actually have two kids that are about to turn 19, and they keep trying to get me to change the rule.. which I can't since it's a system wide thing. However, I'm now working on trying to get better adult programs going. :-D
  2. Hola, I just want everyone to know that National Gaming @ Your Library Day is November 14th this year. So... if you are interested in sharing your great table top hobby, i recommend contacting your local library and seeing if you can book their meeting room and have them create a program around a type of gaming. At the library I work at, I have been given the go ahead to demonstrate table top games, set up video gaming programs, provide board & card games for customers to play throughout the day, and just generally showcase how great being a geek can be. Heck, I bet if you asked nicely, some libraries might even be willing to let you host a tournament in their meeting room if you book it ahead of time. However it goes, just try to get into a library on the 14th of November to show off some kind of great gaming.
  3. Hola, I'm not a Res player, but I am curious... after the change to graverobber, how have Res games been against Guild models that can destroy/sacrifice cropse counters? Main reason I ask, is that my buddy (a Res player) and myself, see the change as balanced, except for against the guild (the one faction that can pretty easily destroy/sacrifice cropse counters). BTW, I am a GUild player, so I'm just wondering how things are going (for balance and all).
  4. Ok, that's how I was playing it. One attack equals one draw and one heal. Trigger it each attack.
  5. Follow up... I got Sonnia into melee last night (Taelor acted as her body guard and buddy up close), and she did very well. Getting the initiative against another Master is huge as she can shut down their spell casting by hurting them with her blade, and making them discard cards and me drawing them is great (I know they discard a card for each RAM... but do I just draw one card and heal one WD no matter how many RAMs are in my combat total?).
  6. Menace is a good one! And actually Taelor has it too! I'm loving her more and more (even though it take an 8+ flip for her to do it).
  7. I figure, why not? Let's start posting some fun combos (even if no practical or particularly powerful) that the guild can do. One I'm liking so far is Taelor (merc) and Sonnia). Set up a Flame Wall 1.5" - 2" behind an enemy, and then have taelor knock them back into it. They take 3 damage from touching the wall, and then another 3 when they activate in it. Convict Gunslinger and Samuel. Supressing fire and Snare are amazing together, as it either forces models (easily two if they are less than the base size of snare away from each other) to give up lots of control cards, or AP. Those are just my two fav so far... post more!!
  8. I was wondering about tactics that other people have been using with Sonnia. I've played 3 games with her so far, and love her. So, it is only natural that I want to keep improving my game with her. I have found that her Flame Burst is amazing especially when used with Confiscated Lore and Explosive Burst. Advanced Couter Spell is a life saver (and a good use for low Book suits cards, or pairs of low cards in your control hand). And Magic Seeker has been of good use also. The spells/abilities/talents that I haven't been able to get much out of so far however are Flame Wall, Inferno, and Absorb Magic. I know that Flame wall is good for making people think twice about a charge lane, but I haven't got much good use out of it (I have a feeling though this might be because I've played my 3 games against a Sesmaus and Belle list, and am afraid that he will Lure my own models through the Flame Wall. Inferno and Absorb magic seem to fall into the same category for me... she has to be in melee pretty much for them to work... but she seems very fragile up that close to the enemy. So, thoughts, ideas, experiences with Sonnia are welcome. ps: I finally got Violation of Magic to work last night... so hard to set up since most models are below CA 6, so you have to beat models down to 1 WD without killing them, but wow was it nice when I got it to work. Once again, gods bless Confiscated Lore!!
