  1. The Amazon discount makes those almost affordable.
  2. Gremlins, are incredibly fun, but have a definite learning curve to them. As soon as I can manage to win a game with Somer Tooth, I can offer some advice on them.:wallbash: If you really like the Ophelia box, as Wodschow suggested, I would recommend picking up Book 2 as soon as you can, and see where that takes you...
  3. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much on list composition. Part of the fun of learning Malifaux is in the discovery of the different strengths and weaknesses of each model, and of all of the different synergies that the abilities offer. That said, the Punks are fun, but so is Bete. She has a slight learning curve to her, but it can be incredibly fun to watch her frustrate the daylights out of your opponent. If you did want to play a smaller game, suggest to your opponent that he break down one of his Arachnid Swarms into 3 of the 3pt arachnids, as there is no model available for them, and their ability to scatter and swarm together is a major part of their flavor. All the same, congrats on getting into the game, and make sure to post a battle report soon...
  4. Hey everyone, We will be hosting a Malifaux demo at Sci- Fi City, located at Knoxville Center Mall. We will be starting at 5pm and going on until 9pm. Either bring your own crew, or we can provide you pretty much anything that you are looking for. Terrain and tables will be provided by the guys at Sci-Fi. This is open to any number of people, and any skill level. For directions on how to get to the shop, send me a message, give them a call at (865) 523-4700. Hope to see you there!
  5. Yup. Anything that targets corpse tokens.
  6. It is true. Lady Justice and the Executioner can both sacrifice your MZs. Wendigos and Warpigs can also use the to make healing flips http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7935&highlight=rites
  7. My personal "Go-to" 35ss list for McMourning consists of: McMourning (+1ss) Sebastian Chihuahua Bete 2X Rotten Belles 5X Canine Remains The backbone this list is really the Belles. Utilizing two of them can pull McMourning a good distance across the board, or can pull an opponent's model quite a good distance towards you. You are going to open up in the game with 10 models, which should be a good deal more than your opponent should have. Move the Canines early, and try to draw out your opponent's heavy hitters before activating your own. The Belles can pick out an opponent that has already acted, and put him into McMourning or Sebastian's Cg range very quickly. Until you are able to get them into melee, Sebastian and McMourning should usually be the last two models that you activate. Do not underestimate Bete's ability to ruin your opponent's game plan. If the sacrifice a model, or even kill a Canine Remain to close to their crew, she can pop out, and activate immediately after them (with full actions). Paralyze and Slit Jugular are both very nasty, so Flurry, and use them often! I'm not a fan of the Wrack/Dissect Canine combo to create a Flesh Construct. This ties McMourning up for a full turn, and it is my theory that McMourning should always be advancing or killing. However, it is a very popular combo, so its really a matter of personal preference. I like the concept of the Crooked Men, but I haven't had a chance to try them out yet, so I can't really offer any advice on them. On the matter of Sebastian vs Mortimer, I don't really have a preference, but I probably wouldn't take both in the same list; they are too similar, and don't offer a lot of flexibility.
  8. A little confusing on the wording, but an old ruling stated that there was no parts required. I don't believe that it has ever been overturned. http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9799&highlight=stick
  9. I agree wholeheartedly with ProdigalPunk's rebuttal concerning Lady J vs Nico. A disadvantage is not an auto-lose. Liberal use of Canine Remains and Vultures as a rapid delivery system helps to keep corpse counters safe. You know that Lady J is going to be coming at you fast and hard. Set up an ambush for her. Utilize Canine Remains packs to swarm her and reduce her Df by 2. Add in a couple of bolstered Punk Zombies, and you put her in a world of hurt.
  10. Mindless Zombies are treated as corpse counters, so yes, you could use them to fuel any spell that requires a corpse counter that is not being carried by a model.
  11. Put him in a Nicodem list, add Bolster, and you have a model more than worth his high point cost. However, in an Outcast crew, I would probably sooner go for two Ronin.
  12. no doubt that the Punks are strong models. I almost feel that they are auto-includes for Nico, but I have always found them too pricey to run with McM. It could be fun to revisit them though. How do you usually fit them in? Do you cut out the Belles or one of the higher priced models such as Sebastian or Bete?

  14. Sorry, this will be long-winded... McMourning, when used effectively, can be one of the most effective damage-dealers in the game. As far as for crew composition, it really matters a lot on what you are trying to accomplish in a game. A recon crew is going to look different from Slaughter crew. The only constant to mcMourning is Canine Remains, Canine Remains, and more Canine Remains. With what you have above, I would find myself hard pressed to include both Sebastian and Bette unless you are playing 35+ Soul Stones. However, if you wanted to put them both in a 30ss game, I would begrudgingly go with: McMourning Zombie Chihuahua Sebastian Bete Rotten Belle Rotten Belle Canine Remains Canine Remains I would, however, prefer to drop either Sebastian or Bette, and go with 3 to 4 more Canine Remains. The problem with only having 2 Canine Remains lies in their dependence on attacking as packs. Companion, the loss of Insignificant, the -2 to an opponent's Df, and the 1 AP charge against a wounded opponent, as well as Rabies can all make up for their low damage output. I have personally taken down a Peacekeeper in a single Alpha Strike with a circling pack of 6 Canine Remains. Stepping away from my obvious infatuation with the Canine Remains, I'll discuss the damage potential of a McMourning crew. McMourning himself is pretty straightforward. The man can put out a serious hurt with his Surgical Implements, and can kill nearly any model in the game with Dissection if he cheats a high card + soulstone for the casting, and another high card for damage. Get him into melee as soon as possible, and take advantage of his ability to summon Flesh Constructs in the midst of his butchery. McMourning and 1 to 2 Flesh Constructs in the heart of your opponent's models is about as brutal as it comes. The only difficulty here can be keeping McMourning alive long enough to get the momentum moving. His low Df makes him a target for enemy attacks, especially ranged attacks before he makes it into melee. There are several ways to counter this. Utilize cover to your best benefit. Armor + Hard to Wound are a great combo. Also, try to keep a screen of disposable models between McM and the opponent to draw their fire. Belles casting Lure can help McM move forward, or bring the enemy to him. In a pinch, you can Scalpel Slingin as a 0 action to bring you into melee with any model within 6" (as long as you succeed in hitting). Finally, keep as many soulstones as you can ready to boost his abysmal Df, because you are probably going to need it more than once. Bete may not have high damage output, but she has some nasty tricks up her sleeve. There has been a lot of discussion regarding Bete on the forums. Just to summarize: 1. Keep a Fate Card handy for One with the Night 2. Try to bring her out at the end of your opponent's activation as opposed to your own. 3. Her damage output is not great for a 9ss model, so take advantage of Depraved Tactics and Slit Jugular for the utmost nastiness. 4. Flurry often. As for Sebastian, once you can get him into melee, his damage output is very strong. He doesn't move exceptionally quickly, so more often than not, I find it helpful to keep a couple of Belles handy for chain Lures to get an opponent up close to Sebastian, preferably after the opponent's model has already activated. The Belles are not direct killers, but are very important support weapons in melee, whether they are Luring models into melee, or using undress to help make high Df opponents more controllable. Their high number of wounds help keep them around long enough to make sure that they earn their keep. As Lure is typically their strongest asset, it is worth noting that you will get the best bang for your buck when using two (or more) Belles in tandem to bring the opponent to you as quickly as possible. Finally, the Zombie Chihuahua is good for generating body part counters for McM, and there are numerous players that will immediately Wrack and Dissect the poor puppy for a quick Flesh Construct. I personally do not like this tactic for two reasons. First, I do not like slowing down McMourning's charge for even the single turn, that this will take. I feel that for every action that he is not advancing, there is a lost opportunity for killing opponents. For the second reason that I do not like this, IRL I own a chihuahua, and he looks at me with a very disapproving stare every time he sees me do this. But what it all really comes down to is going to be your personal play style. Try the tactics that appeal to you, and constantly change up your crews composition until you find something that really appeals to you. Don't be discouraged if you are losing more games than you are winning. Every Master and crew has some degree of a learning curve to them. The first game of Malifaux that I ever played was with McMourning, and the Ortegas killed every model I had by turn 3!
  15. I'm really not a huge fan of the rules for the Copycat Killer, but I love the model. That alone is enough for him to appear in most of my Seamus lists. Companion, Flintlock and Mistaken Identity make a good combo for getting off 2 shots in short order. It can be tough to pull off, requiring as high a card as possible to cheat his CB of 3 in addition of a 9 or better of :masks for Mistaken Identity, but if it works, 2 Flintlocks can put anyone in a world of hurt. Another approach is the aforementioned Live For Pain, also followed with Mistaken Identity, to bring Seamus up front and personal. Like Penemue has said, you need to keep an 11 or better in your hand just to get the spell off. Also, unless your opponent has an extremely low Df, you are going to want to cheat it with a Soul Stone as well. Just be careful around Perdita/Hamelin/Zoraida lists. That damage potential paired with a WP of 4 makes him a favorite target of Obeys.
  16. You are right. Bette is a "Place" and not a "Summon."
  17. There have been many, many, many threads on Pandora. Basically, she is a hit and run machine. For some really good posts on it, try the Tactica thread: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7354&highlight=lose+pandora For the record, I'm not sold on the Doppleganger in her list either. I think that Candy is a better fit. She has several abilities that will require an opponent to take a WP Duel.
  18. Welcome to the forums from a fellow Nurgle player.
  19. In all due fairness, Lucidicide WAS one of the 4 people that voted to ban Lucidicide... ...and I only voted to ban both of you because it was the first option. I was too lazy to scroll down to the other 3.:tongue1:
  20. That's good; work sucks. Conversely, my wife has forgotten my name, and the kids call the mailman "New Daddy." The Sun does not "burn", like we think of logs in a fire or paper burning. The Sun glows because it is a very big ball of gas, and a process called nuclear fusion is taking place in its core. Nuclear fusion occurs when one proton smashes into another proton so hard that they stick together...and release some energy as well. This energy then heats up the other materials (other protons and electrons and such) nearby. This heating eventually grows out from the center (or core) of the star to the outside, finally leaving the surface and radiating out into space to be the heat and light we know stars emit.
  21. I have nothing against Lucidicide, but anyone that has just generated that high of a post count in that short of a time span should probably be banned just for the sake of his social life. Seriously man, catch a movie, go on a date, see the sun... :tongue1:
  22. ProdigalPunk makes some good points. Also, if you are looking for a bigger punch, look at replacing the 3 Necropunks with 2 Punk Zombies and an extra Soulstone. The Punk Zombie's are very strong models. Add in Nico's Bolster, and they cross over to just plain insane. Look towards either extra Punks and/or Flesh Constructs for your ressurected models. Some Canine Remains would definitely be a plus for mobility and Corpse Counter retrieval as well. As the Necropunk bomb was kind of shot, I would replace the Nurse and the Grave Spirit with the dogs. I personally don't like to proxy, so I can't give much advice on the Crooked Men; but the seem like solid models. Maybe something like this in the end: Nico Mortimer: 7 Punk Zombie: 5 Punk Zombie: 5 Canine Remains: 2 Canine Remains: 2 Crooked Men: 4 Crooked Men: 4 +1 SoulStone
  23. Lol. I'm pretty sure that was a joke.
  24. Used a few of their minis years ago for proxy GW Plaguebearers. Good stuff! I could never find enough of the stuff that I liked the most available in the US
