  1. Hehe, stoned beastmen. Now that'd be a cool theme...
  2. The measurements on their website are in mm and I'm at work so don't have the model handy. (and I'd be too lazy to find my measuring tape if I were at home) I tend to work in metric at work so it doesn't bother me as much. Rough conversions here: 1 2/3" long x 2/3' wide x 3/4" tall. Personally I wish the U.S. would get over itself and convert to the metric system anyway. My mind works better with base 10 systems rather than what ever the heck Standard measures are based on.
  3. I'm being told that they should be available again soon. Can't wait for 'em. Now that I've got a formalized mini budget I've got a couple fleet boxes in my sights.
  4. It is 42mm long, 17mm wide, and 19mm tall. Cold Navy ships tend to be slightly larger than similar ships from other lines.
  5. Was looking for something to paint after finishing those Terran CAVs so figured I'd do these up since I've had the colors planned out for some time now. This is a Mauridian Ba'Negva Frigate (there's two, but since they're being painted the same I'm only showing one) from the Cold Navy line sculpted by John Bear Ross (my favorite of the 3D computer sculptors). Unfortunately the line is kind of in Limbo after just having been purchased, hopefully I can get more later, they're fun to paint. Anyway, the colors were inspired by of all things nature. I was driving home after a late day and the sun was starting to set. As I was waiting for a traffic light, I looked up at the clouds which were this fiery orange color against a deep blue sky. Got home and started looking over the Shelf of Shame and decided to attempt to replicate it with these. Turns out that when I looked at my color wheel (which I had just purchased the previous weekend) that lo and behold, blue and orange are complimentary colors. Hooray for color theory! I added grey to the scheme so that I had more than just the blue and orange and to have a neutral color to separate the main colors without interfering. That and the idea of orange gun turrets didn't sit well with me. Pretty much just got the colors blocked in. Took about 2.5 hours, would've been faster but MSP Fiery Orange takes a few coats to cover, and I have a tendency to go outside and smoke while I'm waiting for paint to dry. Next thing will be picking out details, a little darklining and wash, then some "damp brushing" of highlights. I'm trying to decide if I should do the gun tubes in silver or just a lighter grey. What do yall think?
  6. Caution, Hasselhoff ahead http://www.post-literate.com/gerpunx/archives/2005/01/prepare_to_lose_your_mind.php
  7. Woohoo! Mission complete! Well, at least until I get my hands on some decal sheets that is. Anyway, here they are all done and camo'd up in a unit photo. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some close-up glamour shots for these Hollywood guys and gals. Questions and Comments most welcome.
  8. And here's an example of one of the Hawk V's after being washed. (Am I the only one who finds it mildly amusing that we give these things a wash to make them look dirty?) Got 'em all washed last night though I can tell that on a few I'm going to have to go back and take care of some pesky rings. The pic isn't the best, think I had my light too close. Next, bases.
  9. Yeah, that's why the base isn't anything spectacular, just a mix of sand and different sized ballast, so I don't have to make major repairs after the wear and tear from being used sets in. I think it's a requirement for all mecha games to use hex bases, probably a holdover from the granddaddy of mech games, Battletech. They're for Reaper's CAV, now if they'd just get off their butts and publish the BEEP second version of the rulebook.
  10. RL has been a real @#$@& of late, but I've been slowly chipping away at this army. Got the darklining done on the spots I want to make sure stand out after the wash which will be quite thin. (good lord the Falcon is a @#%$! to photograph) Really all that's left is to touch up some spots and then give everything a thin wash.
  11. LOL, that's a good part of the reason I haven't bought a GW piece in almost two years now. (Hello, my name is Sergeant_Crunch, I've been clean and GW free for 20 months.) Anyway, the Ents are the only ones I find interesting, though I'd have to add more foilage to them to suit me. What I really want to know is why "heroes" need a special basing kit? I love GW's "Hey, if we call it this, they'll think they can only use it for that and they'll buy another item that's almost exactly the same" marketing scam.
  12. Box sets make life easier for the gamer as usually they'll end up buying the pieces anyway. Especially if there's a discount on the overall price vs buying each piece separately. That and some companies like to throw extra goodies/freebies/"special box-set only items" in which adds to the appeal.
  13. With all that surface texture it's hard to tell what's going on, and the shell on the back makes it look off balance from the front. A+ on concept, C (maybe C-) on execution.
  14. That AT-43 woman looks like she'd be worth a repaint with some different colors after some putty on the kneepads.
  15. The (steam?) armored dwarves are interesting as is the ogre/goblin piece. The Paris Open mini would be more menacing in my mind if it didn't have the claw things on the back and if the syringe were held vertical in front of the face instead of horizontal.
  16. I have some molds, but can barely find time to paint lately let alone cast anything.
  17. I think mine mostly stay in the "ugly phase" lol
  18. The Figure Trader unleashed a 40mm medieval skirmish game called "Vanguard Men at Arms"
  19. Wonder why it took so long to get mounted western themed minis Miss Scarlet Deputy Tanner Frankie Lee Preacher
