Max Soul Stones?

So in the rule book it said that you can only start the game with 7 ss. If you say kill a Ronin and add two to the pool can it then go above the seven?

I think max is seven period, if only because there's an upgrade somewhere that specifically allows you to ignore the SS cap. It's not explicitly stated anywhere, though.

Recharge Soulstone - Arcanist Upgrade. It's the only example I know of with the language breaking the hypothetical limit. The rest has been gone over before and there's some wiggle room to interpret. All the players I know just add to the pile and go over seven, but that's always really strong and I don't agree with their interpretation but also don't care enough to fight about it unless there's an faq to quickly sort it out.

We have been playing it as seven is the max cap. But I believe there was discussion on this already that didn't end anywhere. I don't think there's a rule that says 7 is the max after hiring. It's the max you can leave as you enter the board but.. Maybe it'll be in a faq someday.

given that the Hodgepodge effigy can (for a (0) action) allow a leader to discard a card to gain a soulstone every time the leader kills an enemy, I think an FAQ ruling may be required (I play Jack Daw so its unlikely I'll go over 7 any way, but for the Vikkis? entirely possible!!)
