Are hoarcats/wendigo viable?

Hello,

I love the kitty Hoarcat pride models and the Wendigo model and I will be getting them just to paint up and use in fun games, but I'm also looking for tips on how I can be more competitive with them.

From what I can tell, by dropping the Essence of Power (the model of which I like far less) for the Wendigo I give up that sexy + damage modifier for a 2ss sub-par bodyguard. Is this a fair assessment?

For the hoarcat pride, I'm thinking of running them as teams of 2 for the better Devour spell, but their damage arc special rules make me feels like they will never kill a model to recover their wounds.

I think I'm in that old problem of power-versus-preference where I like the models but not the stats, so any tips on how to combine them would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if you intend to Avatar Raspy, against a living enemy, and don't have any other Graverobbers in your crew taking him might not be a bad idea. Remember Counters don't drop unless there is a model, with the appropriate trait to use them, in play.
