aSeamus and Terrifying/Morale Duel questions

Recommended Posts

Most of my questions are not anything to do with aSeamus specifically, its just in starting to use him that we realized how unfamiliar we are with the details of morale-duels/falling back/rallying.

So, basically the scenario was that aSeamus managed to get into melee range of 4 living models all at once.

So, he used his miasma to reduce all wp by -2 and then used his "Bellow of the big bastard" to make all 4 models take morale duels.

This is where the questions start.

1. Do models that are trying to disengage because of "falling back" from a failed morale duel still get stopped by disengaging strikes that keep them in aSeamus' melee range? (wicked is so wonderful, if so)

2. If the answer to #1 is that aSeamus CAN prevent them from "falling back" out of his melee range, can they still rally on their activation within his melee range?

3. Again, if #1 is that he GETS a strike to keep them in range, is the minus flip for all duels other than morale duels already in place for their defensive flip on the disengage attempt? (All "falling back" models get minus flips to all duels that are not morale duels according to the rule book)

4. Can a model that is already "falling back" and has not rallied yet be made to take ANOTHER morale duel and if so, would it try to fall back again if it failed?

5. Similar to #4, if a model activates that just wants to rally, but its in the Terrifying range of something, does it need to do the terrifying check before even trying to rally?

We played it such that aSeamus could keep the models in his melee range by preventing them from getting away... and it was basically a bloodbath that went so poorly for my opponent that we think that perhaps we did not play it right.

(My opponent learned that it was DEFINITELY not right to get 4 models next to aSeamus regardless ;) )

1: Yes, if you try to leave a model's melee range because of falling back you can still be stopped by a disengaging strike.

2:They can still rally I believe, however remember they will have to take the Terror test again, as you only get to ignore a model's Terror once you have passed it.

3: Yes, while they are falling back they are on a negative twist on their Defense vs. the disengaging strike.

4: Yes, models that are already falling back, can be forced to fall back again, assuming they fail another Morale Duel. Note however that Morale duels are not subject to the negative twist imposed by falling back.

5: Yes, sort of. You will automatically rally at the beginning of your activation, but you will still need to take the terror test if you haven't passed against it before, as you need to succeed a Terror check to cease having to test for it.

Note: the Terror number is a unique instance of Terror to be checked for. In example:

A Desperate Merc model starts his turn next to aSeamus and his Terror score of 13, and passes his check. He is now no longer needs to check against aSeamus' Terror 13.

aSeamus activates and uses Succumb to Darkness to up his Terror score to 15.

The Desperate Merc activates again and now must take a Terror check against Terror 15. Even though he passed his terror check previously, the Terror score of 15 is now technically a new instance of Terror, one the Desperate Merc has not checked against.

From what you describe, it sounds like you played it right. aSeamus can indeed lock down crews, given the correct positioning, and assuming a beatstick still isn't alive, as aSeamus is exceptionally fragile, and you really only need one model to succeed the check and kill him if it the correct model, but if you don't plan for it aSeamus can certainly wreck your day.
