cain
1. If you try to reach a target number and get the black joker you fail the action. Does this include attacks, so drawing 3 cards including the BJ do you fail the attack automatically? 2. You draw an extra card to replace the value of a flipped or played ace. The animation card is neither flipped or played, so if you get the ace for animation it keeps its value of 1?

Beware the Black Joker because it says "No!" 2) Not sure what you mean.... can you describe the situation a bit more? But when you flip over an Ace for your Animation Card it does invoke the Ace special rule (remember it's a may), letting you draw another card to replace it's value. WookieeGunner
Karn, I'm a bit confused on your #1. The Rules Manual on page 23 says "The Black Joker has a value of 0 and no suit when it is revealed." So I read that to mean that Francisco (CB7) shoots a Rotten Belle (DF3). Francisco flips a Black Joker so has an effective 7 and the Belle flips a 3 so has an effective 6, therefore Francisco still hits. What am I missing? Wrong game This the Puppet Wars rules section, not the Malifaux one.

Hugor
Just to make sure, since this just happened to me...Making an attack. Have combat 3. Flip 3 cards. The first was a 13 of masks, the second the black joker, the third the red joker. Needed a 6 hit. But since I flipped the black joker I fail, correct? Ratty
However if you flip an Ace and then flip a Black Joker for it's value I believe it's not an auto fail just worth 0:masks:masks or 0:crows:crows
