  1. This attack is part of an Ability and is the effect of gaining a rip, and thus it is not really an action, as per the rules on page 20 . Since the Punk Zombie is not animating, he is simply responding to being ripped by another puppet.
  2. Alright, after a way amazing trip to Alaska, and an insane busy start to the school year, and a fantastic Gen Con, I am finally getting back to painting and working on puppet Wars. Spent a good bit of time today finishing up Lady Justice and Seamus and am really pleased with the results. As I mentioned in another post, while I know I have grown a lot as a painter since the original version of this game, I feel like the new models are far easier to paint and have so much fun detail that they are all just screaming to be painted. Anyway, here is what I have as of now...
  3. I totally agree. Just finished painted two models, and while I know I have grown a bunch as a painter since the original version of this game, these are so much easier to paint, and look so much better. While building them may be a hassle, it is totally worth it.
  4. I asked at Gen Con, and they said they have been focusing so much on M2E that they have not done much with Puppet Wars. I am hoping for more to come out, but am still in the process of building and painting Unstitched, so I am fine if they take some time getting something else out.
  5. So after much debate, have decided to put a lot more up for sale. There is a large number of Guild models (would really like to sell them in as big a group as possible) and some other odds an ends.
  6. So, I am going to try and raise some money for Gen Con so I can worry less about purchasing all the wonderful new things that will be there. I would love to sell these in as big of groups as possible. I am fine with shipping these worldwide, but I know that shipping outside of the US gets pricey. I am more than happy to pack the order and bring it to USPS and ask what it would cost. I am also willing to provide some discounts for larger purchases. Send me a PM if you are interested or are looking to haggle. I am willing to provide discounts or discounted shipping for larger purchases. I will respond to PMs as they are received, but will give priority to larger purchases. 7. I think it would work, but balance would be the biggest question. Having played both versions, the things that would be fairly set in stone. Marcus Stats AR: 4 (The three they currently have all moved down 1) [*}Movement: 2 (This is the norm) Defense: 7 - 8 (He was an 8 previously, and Lady J and Seamus stayed the same) Attack: 2 Upgrades: 3 Stiches: 3 Abilities: Arcane Master: Ignore one :tomes (tomes) in the Animation requirement of all Puppets you control. Everybody Share (Friendly puppet in play suffers 1 rip)Rg: in Play Effect: Target Puppet is Sewn Up one rip. This action does not require LOS Roar (4 + discard a :tomes ) Rg: 3 Effect: All Puppets adjacent to Target Stuffed Animal suffer on Rip. LOS is not required. In thinking about this, I am not totally sure Everybody Share would make it to a new Marcus. He had several puppets (Razor Spine Rattler being one of them) that had benefits when they had 1 or more rips. So, he could do some really great things by simply swapping them around. So, depending on how future pawns go that ability may disappear. I think Roar will stay though. Maybe he will have the Fire + Stuffing instead... I know I personally used Roar and Everybody share as much as possible. Being a :tomes master, he may get some sort of card trick also. He will probably also have some connection to Stuffed Animals and be able ignore the suit in the AR of all stuffed animals. I think the best thing to do, as you said, is simply play around with it, but those are some of my of the top of my head thoughts of what one might see.
  8. So suits and numbers are totally different entities in a way. Most cards have one number and one suits (Aces have two suites). The 8 of rams, for instance, is both the number 8 and the suit rams. Animation requirements are the same. If the AR is 8 rams you have to meet both the 8 (or have a number above 8) and have at least 1 ram. If you have a Master, Seamus for example, who has you totally ignore one crow suit in a puppet's AR. So for Seamus, to Animate a puppet with an AR of 8 :crows, he would only need an 8 or above of any suit. The reason it mentions one, is that there may be abilities in the future that cause a puppet to have an AR with multiple suits (8 crows and crows) or Puppets that are really good that have two suits in their normal AR.
  9. Ya, the game is a lot of fun, and as much as I liked the original, I think I may like the new version more. Will have to play at least a few more times to make that decision though.
  10. So have spent some time with Puppet Wars Unsitched over the past few days. Have worked on creating some custom basis, shamelessly stealing from the one's Mako showed in the most recent Chronicles. I have also built one of each model, and really feel like the majority of these models are far superior to the originals. I am a littler underwhelmed with Pokey Viktoria (not sure why she has the hunchback / huge neck thing going on), the Judge (who seems to be missing part of his left arm, but other than this oddity I really like him) and the Silurid (who grew weird whisker things, which I have simply removed since I like his cute face). But other than that, I really like all of the models. I especially like the Austringer, the Guild Marshall and the Executioner. I think they really shine at the new size. The Rattler is probably the best, and I am really looking forward to painting these, and can say that they have been a joy to paint thus far. Also, played my first official game of Unstiched today, and was extremely pleased. The game moves much faster for a number of reasons, and is far more streamlined and easier to explain. The change in Exhaustion (Puppets are only Exhausted if they take an Action) is a brillent idea and really allows for more movement and some interesting choices. The change to the animation card (drawing it into the hand and then selecting) also speeds things up, especially now that all of the AR costs are so low. The reduction in AR really allows a player to have a good choice regardless of the Animation Card, which speeds up the game, and makes it more fun. Having lower ARs made it easier to throw high cards into Dodging and Cheats, which made the game more enjoyable. Upgrades are much easier to explain and since they are accessible from anywhere, everyone can use What Pretty Buttons You Have (without becoming exhausted), and you can attach an upgrade after killing a model, I feel like they are going to be far more utilized in the future. I also feel that many of the little changes that I did not notice until playing really help the overall flow of the game. Only being allowed to animate from an unoccupied workbench, helps in explanation, since I was always reminding people of the Master Workbench rule, and then trying to explain why they couldn't animate one space away from the Workbench when it wasn't occupied by the Master. The removal of the Blocking rule is great, and speeds things up. The removal of the :fast actions also removes a lot of the confusion, especially since there is no longer the odd I am not animating but I am going to take one move or one action nonsense. Am curious on how the Guild Hound is going to be changed, since his upgrade and the Austringer used to be one of my favorite combinations. Hope to get a few more games in this week. The real test is a game with my girlfriend, which will probably happen this weekend (I hope).
  11. So, Unstiched was on my porch when I got home from work today, and I was overall very happy with the simple physical quality of the product. Pros: The box is much bigger and of a much higher quality. I can pull the old box out of my stash of boxes if someone wants a comparison picture. The information on the back of the box includes pictures of models, the board, and the cards. It also includes a brief description of the game. Fate Deck are the same high quality as before Terrain Tokens are plastic and far more visible than before and labeled. Board is much bigger and of far better quality (colors, image, etc...) Miniatures (while in a ton of pieces) are beautiful. Character cards are smaller (which is a plus in my opinion) and easier to read. Things that Could Been Better: Exhaust tokens are still card board. Slightly better and bigger than before, but still not really durable, and not really enough for bigger games. Rule book is similar to before, and I kind of wish this was bigger.
  12. About to post some pictures of the box and board etc... over here: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?42515-Hugor-s-Unstiched-Experiences-(Good-Bye-Tax-Return-Hello-Puppet-Wars)
  13. Mako (Mark) supplied a really in depth painting tutorial in the newest Wyrd Chronicles (http://www.malifaux.com/Downloads/Wyrd_Chronicles_Volume_6.pdf) that explores basing, shading, blending, cleaning up mold lines, etc... Really great article for painting in general, but even better, because it focuses on all the wonderful Puppets from Unstiched.
  14. The Puppet Painting Tutorial is great. Thanks so much. Looking forwarded to getting my puppets tomorrow in the mail, and was thrilled to see this before I start the long process of trying to get them all painted and ready to go.
  15. Just got an update from Miniature Market that my copy has shipped, so looks like Unstiched is on its way to those in the US.
  16. Just got an update from Miniature Market that my copy has shipped, so hopefully it will be to us all soon.
  17. I'll take one or two if you get this done
  18. Is that Maranda off to the side? If so, I really like the way she is looking and the Rattler is amazing.
  19. I agree, I hope they do a lot with Puppet Wars, because I feel like it is a really great game. Have my fingers crossed that my copy of Unstiched will make it in by June, so I have plenty of time to paint (at least some of it) before Gen Con, cause I would really like to get some games in there and talk it up during my free time. And, with all the changes coming with M2E, while I am thinking of doing some tournaments or story events, I am waiting to see how everything looks before I decide on a crew, so still debating if I even want to bring my Guild stuff, buy a new crew prior to Gen Con, or just wait to see what new models they have there, and build them on Thursday and play with them, so not sure how much malifaux I will be playing, but do want to at least get in some good games of Puppet Wars.
  20. I really like your idea of adding Evil Baby Orphanage to Puppet Wars, and hope that Mack and Justin are reading this thread and decide to do just that. Maybe Zoraida is simply a misunderstood Time Nanny and Malifaux is her orphanage that she has been kindly overseeing for centuries. But then those stupid humans make a hole in the wall, come in, and start causing a ruckus as well as letting all the Neverborn and Gremlins out of there playpens. So, she is slowly trying to control all inhabitant of Malifaux, now that the humans have come in and started causing havoc in her once peaceful orphanage, but since she cannot physically restrain them all, she has resorted to creating voodoo dolls to begin the process. I think it is a great idea :Smug_Puppet2: ---------- Post added at 11:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 AM ---------- P.S. as for other models, I like Ammon Miniatures. I think they will fit better with the new enlarged plastic puppets as they were a little big compared to the originals, but still waiting for my box to come in, so i am not sure how they compare. Is Rexy for sale somewhere?
  21. HA! Good catch on the typo, as that does in fact completely change the meaning of that sentence... While a rouge tournament may be fun, I in fact meant a ROGUE tournament. But maybe I will now just have to have it with makeup and some nurses boots on.
  22. So, Puppet Wars is going to be at Gen Con in a combination Party and Board Game Demo Station, and while I am hoping to get out there, I was sad to see that it is being less represented at this Con than it was last year. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone was interested in getting in some games or creating a rouge tournament or something using the Unstiched Rules and models. I am willing to kind of help out and can bring my stuff (assuming I get it in any time soon and have some time to build / paint things) but was wondering if there was any interest in this. EDIT: I mean "ROGUE", not "rouge"
  23. I ordered one from Miniature Market and have yet to hear anything as an update. Was going to order some other pre-order stuff, but held off, because I want this as soon as it comes in and the other things could have held it up. I'll post here when I hear something from them.
  24. So, I decided two nights ago while playing a particularly brutal game of Malifaux that I would get Unstiched (I needed something fun to play after being totally slaughtered). Having read the rules, I know my girlfriend (who is not really a gamer) and my gaming group (which does not really play tabletop games) will probably enjoy this version more than original. Plus I have a massive amount of models coming at the end of the year (Kingdom Death, Arena Rex, Da Clash! and whatever minis Wyrd may have at Gen Con), so I decided it would be better for me to get this now, so I can get them built and painted over the summer break, and so they don't get looked over at Gen Con with all the other pretty things that I am sure will be there. I have created this thread just so I have a place to discuss my thoughts on the game play, model building, and painting process of this remake of what was one of my favorite games. I have also decided to pick up the Battle Foam tray, so will review that as well when it all comes in.
