A minor argument has come up at my Local Gaming store about whether spells use the combat total modifier chart for damage flips.
The pro-modifier chart side is quoting page 54:
"The difference between the casting total and the resist total counts as the combat total for any effects (such as damage flips) which require a combat total.
The pro side says since you use a combat total, and it specifically talks about it in relation to damage, then the modifier chart should be used.
The Anti Chart side says that since the word "modifier" wasn't used, and since spells are a different mechanic, the chart should not be used.
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but my search-fu is apparently weak. I would like some clarification if I can get it.
