dsmiles
Well, I've been painting, and painting, and painting. Feel free to comment on the pics of my minis (which are too many to post here). Kirai and her crew are the most recent of the lot. Vin
Nice stuff. How long were you working on all of those Malifaux minis?
dsmiles
Well, I'm still working on Kirai's crew, but the others took about 240 hours total (over the course of about a month). I generally achieve tabletop quality in 7-9 hours per mini. Display quality is quite beyond me, but I imagine it would take 12 or so hours per mini. Side note: My wife is very understanding of my hobbies. Thank god for the small things.
Cambrius
Very nice. Definitely an inspiration for my own Lady J crew.
dsmiles
Thanks. She's one of my favorites.
Vinncent
Great figures :congrats:, a lot of them One technical question: how did you do this blue flame on the scales of justice?
dsmiles
Thanks. Short Answer: Fluff. Long Answer: No, really, fluff: It's actually supposed to represent a soul being weighed against gold (a la the Anubis myth). There's actually the front half of a helmetless Tau head at the bottom of that (can't see it at that angle, though). It's just some pillow stuffing (poly-nylon blend rather than cotton) dry brushed with some Citadel Ice Blue towards the bottom.
Cambrius
Finally! A use for leftover Tau bits! Really cool idea, and I'm totally scooping it outright. I do promise to give you full verbal credit at tableside, though.
dsmiles
Yeah, I never used the helmetless Tau heads either.

dsmiles
Thanks, though I'm considering re-painting the Death Marshals. All that leather might be a little much...I may give them a Simple Green Bath and go with some denim pants, or black dusters or something. dsmiles
GAH!! So much stuff to update, but I can't!! I have to save some for Rotten Harvest. (Not that I'll win anything, but I have to try.)
FoeRender
Nice work , seems like you been busy .
dsmiles
Thanks, and I have. I just can't show it yet, as I haven't decided what to enter for Rotten Harvest.
dsmiles
Update. I've done a lot more than what's here, but I entered the rest in the Rotten Harvest. (Not that I have any hope of winning, up against some of the painters around here.)
dsmiles
More recently painted update: Here's a poor Hollow Waif, waiting for her base to come in the mail (Whoops! Looks like I forgot to shine her boots.): Mechanical Attendant: And a Soulstone Miner:
Lordgimpet
nice work with the rust on the miner
dsmiles
Thanks. I use Secret Weapon's weathering powders. I put it on there and wet it a little for this guy.

dsmiles
Wow. Thanks! I was shooting for an old, dusty look on Levi, so he's mostly drybrushed for highlights.
Ru_Darkthorne
Great work man! I can't wait to make it back home and get back into painting with ya. Just hope I can do half as well. Haha
dsmiles
Thanks. It's sooo weird, you know? The stuff I did back in the day, I look at now and I think to myself, "What did I do? Suck up paint in my nose and sneeze on this thing?" Watch for the Rotten Harvest voting. There's so many people here better than me, this thing is gonna be off the chain! EDIT: Now, if only I could figure out this darn Ice Golem. dsmiles
Another update. Raspy's box is finished (along with a Hoarcat Pride)! Rasputina: Ice Golem: Hoarcat Pride: Next victim: Ashes and Dust EDIT: Also, it still doesn't make sense to me that the Ice Golem is on a 40mm base, but the Desolation Engine is on a 50.
