Mako
This renaissance one looks quite good fun actually. Black powder, alchemy, shenanigans...
edonil
Today has just been a day to relax, honestly. Board game night in an hour, looking forward to that, should be fun. Haven't had one in a long time. Trying to figure out how my character would go about doing a particular task for next week... How about you, Monkey? ---------- Post added at 05:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:37 PM ---------- This renaissance one looks quite good fun actually. Black powder, alchemy, shenanigans... ...O.O That sounds awesome.
Mako
Ah, relaxing. Me too. *looks at wall covered in novel post its* AAAARRRRgggggh. Well, that's tonight's entertainment sorted... Board game night? Sounds like a laugh. Yeah, I just downloaded the rule book, skimming through it seems like good fun. The kind of thing I'd enjoy playing or running. edonil
You run it, I'll play. How's the word count coming along?
Mister Monkey
Ooo what board games you got lined up? I am setting up the tree .... then off to games club
edonil
Not sure. I'm bringing along Dominion, but we'll see what ends up being played. We've got a couple people who love intricate board games, and others who hate them, so it always gets interesting.
Mister Monkey
Can I recommend Battlestar Galactica .... the game of paranoia....
edonil
Heh, I can barely get them to play Dominion sometimes.
Mako
You guys want to play it, I'll run it! And I promise to make the plotline a bit less convoluted than my novel *grin* Oh, and to give you pretty much free rein. I'll just make a world and you guys can wreck whichever bits you wander into! Word count? A tiny smidge shy of 40,000 words, with a week to go
edonil
Awesome! Good job, Mako! You got well and good past me, great job. Haven't done any writing this week, although lots of planning...after I get these few papers done for class, I'll have a bit to work on, that'll be fun. Mako
Well, violence won't be the best solution to every problem. Granted, it will probably solve a lot of them, but you might regret some deaths later! Not that I won't let you kill people that you needed alive, but you'l have to find a way round it later on... *wink* I'll start messing with concepts but will be focussed on NaNo for the next week. Don't want to miss the goal! So close.... ---------- Post added at 01:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:56 AM ---------- Planning is good Ed, it means you'll have a coherent story rather than the chaos that fills the pages I've done! I just can't stand missing targets, so when I said I would do 50k, I was going to do it even if Sophie fled!
edonil
So what system is this game in? And honestly, I've got a few ideas on what to run...got two great ones from The Clockwork Quartet:
Mako
It's a d100 based off clockwork and chivalry I think, by cakebread and Walton. Fairly standard system for it as far as I know. Which isn't that far. I like those songs, they have nicely twisted themes in them
edonil
Yeah, they're fun. I think Watchmaker's Apprentice is my favorite, honestly. d100? Hm. Never done any of those. Sounds interesting though.
Mako
Will take me a bit of work to figure it all out I reckon, but shouldn't be too hard by all accounts. I hope! ---------- Post added at 05:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 AM ---------- How was board games?
edonil
We played card games: Sets (matching game, pretty complex actually), Spoons and Bang! It was fun, good to see the old gang again.
Mako
Sets, spoons and bang? Sounds like a drunken demolition...

Mako
I can't see a problem with alcohol and explosives! Heh. Woo, 41,500 words!
edonil
Ooo. Reading through the rules, a fencing instructor might also be a fun way to play a character, with a 'current status' of spy in between masters or an outlawed rogue. ---------- Post added at 11:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 PM ---------- Congrats! Mako
That sounds like a pretty awesome character!
edonil
Oh! Or a witch hunter...or any number of characters. This system could be a lot of fun.
Mako
Heh, I loved the massive range of options. And this is just the standard book, the deluxe one you can buy has more I think! I may well lean it heavily towards the alchemy rather than pure magic, so that we don't have the old 'magic solves everything' problem. But then if someone really wants a magic user, I can't restrict it! Witch hunter would be hilarious though
