edonil
You should check out the Hand of Thrawn duology that Zahn wrote...a few years after the Heir to the Empire trilogy, but basically a flat out sequel, and wonderfully done. Fun trip that one.
Mister Monkey
In all honesty for me Star Wars was something I watched not read.... thats why I never really got into the books. Only really read the Heir serries because they were one of the first Star Wars things out for a long time....
edonil
Ah, fair enough. Well, hopefully the new trilogy is better than the prequel. Granted, wouldn't be hard to pull off.
Mister Monkey
And the sheer mass of books that is now out there is quite frankly too daunting to start now. Feel the same about the 40k books too....
edonil
Honestly, there's only a handful of sets I would really recommend from Star Wars. Heir to the Empire, Hand of Thrawn, the X-wing Series...and I honestly think that's about it. The others aren't bad, just those three sets are the best ones. SteamHammer
Morning all. How's things. I've just started season 3 of Clone Wars last week. Book wise I've only read the Karen Traviss Delta squad series.
Sliver Chocobo
Which clone wars are we talking about the CG one or the Samuari Jack one
edonil
The Traviss books were very good, but I still have to recommend the three sets above. Just good writing all around, with some great characters, especially Grand Admiral Thrawn. Gentlemen Magnificent Bastard indeed. ---------- Post added at 05:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 AM ---------- Which clone wars are we talking about the CG one or the Samuari Jack one I'm talking about the CGI one. Forgot all about the Samurai Jack ones...those weren't that bad, though.

SteamHammer
Both Clone wars were good but I prefer the CG one simply because its longer. Although it has all the usual Star Wars problems of Anakin being nothing but emotion and all the Jedi stand around looking stupid.
edonil
Ah yes...the Jedi Idiot Ball. So much fun, because they don't ever drop it.
SteamHammer
I actually hope Disney milk it more. Split it in to things like a Jar Jar Binks and the ewoks rubbish for kids (even let Lucas help on that if they want), wooden acting teen romance crap for the Twilight fans, and then they can make some more grown up films or series for the rest of us. SteamHammer
Turns out I had my dates wrong so I have another week before my mum comes to visit. Might be able make a start on the Ten Thunders after all.

SteamHammer
Shang I think as I didn't glue that to the base so that I could paint under it more easily.
Mako
*yawn* morning all. Is amazing how good more than eight hours sleep feels when you've been awake for two days. And it's NaNo! Time to panic and start hammering the keyboard!
SteamHammer
Morning. So you've decided to give up on getting anything done in November? Is the novel something you've been thinking of for a while or spur of the moment?
edonil
Morning Mako, wondered if you managed to pass out for a while!
Mako
Yup, before 10 last night I was curled up in lovely cosy dreamless sleep. First time in ages that's happened! It's an idea that's been kicking about for a while, but I only started to bulk it up and actually think about properly in the last couple of months. Hopefully today will have a little downtime so I can write, I've had a tiny idea about how to use a little of the characters personalities to clear up a small issue with a lot of people not having names so far! And good update Ed, funny and sweet all at the same time.

Mako
It works! It works! MuahahahAHAHAHAHAHA...Ahem. Sorry about that. Still, scraping together bits of ancient and supposedly broken kit and getting an ideal result first try is pretty epic. I'm sure a wiggly black line on the monitor shouldn't have quite such a massive effect on me! That said, I have only written 150 words so far, best get a move on with that later. How's the world treating people today?

edonil
Congrats Mako, on the successful(?) experiment! Just woke up, time to keep writing, lol. Got another 600 words to go. And glad you enjoyed the update, Mako, I was hoping it would come across like that. How's your writing going?
