Advice on Zoraida

Recommended Posts

I added Zoraida to my collection. She is going to be the first of my Neverborn Collection. I was wondering what would be a good next purchase. I know I need to buy Voodoo Doll (currently proxying one), but what is next. I do intend to eventually buy another Master for them.

I currently have

Zoraida

Bad Juju

3 Silurids

Hooded Rider

I have only played Zoraida on a couple occasions, but when I did, I definitely regretted not taking some big beasty of my own to Obey and give extra actions to. If I played her again I'd take a Hans or a Nekima or a Mature Nephilim or something.

Unfortunately, you can't obey Bad Juju so I don't really like him.

(bozzy) Thanks I already have a Papa Loco hadn't used him with her yet. I will look at getting a Nurse at some point as well.

Are any of the other box sets that would be usefull for her?

It would be nice to have another master to use in the neverborn faction for tournaments. I am trying to get at least 2 masters per faction.

Thanks again for the advice.

Definitely, definitely grab the Lilith Box.

As an alternate Neverborn Master she complements Zoraida quite well due to having such a different playstyle (ie. pure melee-pocalypse rather than careful manipulation). But the other benefit of her box is the minions you get with her. Terror Tots are cheap and fast, so having a few around is very useful when you need to claim objectives and the like.

The Mature Nephilim makes for a very effective beatstick that Zoraida can Obey herself, which can be frightening when you consider his damage output.

After that, I'd look at getting a minion with ranged attacks (for when you'd rather hurt things from a distance) and a blister of Waldgeists. There are plenty of ranged minions to choose from. Some of the good choices would be the Convict Gunslinger, Rami La Croix, Hanns, the Freikorps Trapper and the Freikorps Specialist.

The Waldgeists occupy that 5-7SS sweet spot that lets you swap around your available minions more easilly. It's also a pretty tough melee minion (great against exploding things) and capable of providing cover for your crew by moving forests around (great vs shooting crews).

Honestly though, the sheer range of viable models that Zoraida could take is enormous, and there are very few that I wouldn't consider using in a Zoraida crew.

Finally, if you're starting a Zoraida crew, I suggest you read this; ;)
