ZombiEd
I'm curious as to how the stockings on Collette and several other female models are painted? Is it just a thin black wash over the painted legs?

Maniple
I found a method that works alright. I had the same problem with the flesh and black not going together. I think the problem is that you need to start with a non-flesh tone as the stockings actually change the color of what is beneath. The problem with mixing black in with the flesh tones is that they turn grey. This works alright: Try starting with GW desert yellow or bubonic brown, mixed with a little Dwarf flesh to warm it up. Then cover the dark spots and back of legs with black, slightly lightened with one of those others. Then blend in the edges with brown and black washes or inks. I found that I had to draw in some of the shadows around the knees and ankles since there wasn't a great deal of relief in those areas. Hope this helps Edited October 24, 2010 by Maniple
