Bette noir(, in McMourning crew)

Been playing McMourning for a while now, up to 30 ss games. Been running usual stuff, so 4 hounds, Sebastion, Chihuahua and recently added a belle (or reanimated Collette!). Leaves me with 11 ss to play with.

Have recently discovered how effective essientially sacrifacing 1st turn to use dogs, chihuahua and seb to raise 6 corpse counters/12 body parts for McMourning by beginning of turn 2. So can raise lots, get fast etc.

Leaves me with 2 ss and bette. Love the character, love the model, but feel she may be a bit pricey for only 4 wound and not being a spirit. Yeah she can be great at dishing it out and comes back if u ave a 10 in your hand, but I dont think i've been making the best of her. Want her in the list but feel 5 hounds and an extra soulstone would play better! (as predictable as that list would be)

(Am preferring to raise big beasties)

Any suggestions on how to get the best from her? Wanted a non-nurse female element in the list and am happy enough with collette-belle but ideally want her in too. Otherwise any other suggestions?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I play regularly against collette and Seamus crews. SO you would recommend getting her out asap, and keep burning cards to keep her alive? Do you also suggest leaving her on or own or doubling teaming enemies? I know she can hurt stuff, and to activate her at the end of a turn rather than the beginning, will this be enough and does she get her points back?

Well, I've never played against Collette and know absolutely nothing of her or the crew intended to work with her.

But Seamus, well.

Seamus will give you hell with Bete.

The only unit worth attacking with Bete is Seamus, and chances are, you won't get a dog close enough OR get Seamus to kill that dog.

If you do use Bete Noir against Seamus, make damn sure you have both the cards to put him down AND the card to put her back into the ground.

Or you'll have a 9 point sink into nothing. :[

I will be playing against a Collette crew very, very soon, and maybe then we'll see how she works and whatnot.

I use her with Mcm from time to time. I charge dogs at whatever I want to die, let them kill th dog and pop her up. You need to hold a 10 though. And yes, keep bringiner her back everyturn you can. Pop those 0 actions and you can tear through mature Neph with paired cb6. and flurry.

Thats how I play her at least, and yeah expensive, but a real pain for your enemy.

Bete is an interesting choice for a McMourning crew in my opinion and this is the reason why. McMourning and Sebastian (not to mention a pack of rapid canine remains) are capable inflicting so much damage that unlike the other Ressurectionist crews he doesn't necessarily require the extra damage output that specialist ressie models (like Punk Zombies or in this case, Bete) provide.

What I mean by this is that the type of things you might think you need Bete to deal with McMourning can handle with ease and your spending 9 stones on her. That's potentially 2-3 extra models.

The armies that your dealing with can also deal with Bete fairly effectively. Sadly, there are better options then Bete for McMourning.

Thats exactly my dilemma as I think shes great, but am aware a second belle and 3 more hounds still leaves me with a big (7) soul stone cache. Nurses dont really suit the way I play, and i prefer to summon necrotics and constructs (normally take mcmournings scheme. akes perfect sense!)

I'm findin that in three ways, my opponents are starting to double team Mcmourning, so need something that works well with him. Ive POURED over the books and cant find anything. I havent really missed the 9 ss mins, so could keep her in...???

Also thanks for tips from others on doggies: need to learn that i can throw them away!

Not a bad pla. I find tho that with the way I play they never seem to do much. My mate swears by them ,and hounds do pack a punch when dosed up. The silly thing is the list works really well as a 30 ss list (even just using 21 ss most of the time). i just want it to pack that extra something, as i find i am slaughtering everything but cannot complete some of the harder stratergies that come my way (which is when that 9 ss comes to play)

General point btw, chihuahua has been nuked (have v2 card and get the stick now fetches a cc in 3" if im reading it correctly. Thinking of replacing with a grave spirit (but still using chi model as is awesome).

Relating to my earlier question, how would a hanged or even the mighty Jack Daw (along with bete probs my 2 fav resse characters) work?

Also, is the convict gunslinger any good? I was looking at his ability to paralyze and ignore terrifying duels and he seemd ok, but a bit pricey perhaps.

Also have'nt tried necropunks, which seem like pricer hounds to me but would be interested on what others think.....

Jack Daw is more of a Nicodem boy, because Nicodem can summon other Hanged rather easily, bypassing their expensive soulstone cost..

A Convict Gunslinger, in my mind, is more suited to a Seamus crew then a McMourning one. If i want to add some ranged to my McMourning crew I find that Crooked Men work a treat. The area of effect ranged attack is great for dealing damage to multiple models, allowing you to use Bloodhound with your Canine Remains and Shafted is just amazing: 3 damage, the model is paralysed or the model is dead, no resist. Furthermore, Crooked Men have a paralysing trigger for their melee attack and they are 2 stones cheaper than the Gunslinger. Crooked Men are the way to go in my book, i never regret taking them.

The thing about McMourning is, he doesn't have a huge dependence on high Soulstone models, and the ones that work particularly well with him, he can already summon (Rogue Necromancy and Flesh Construct). If you must take a high cost model, my pick of the litter would be Killjoy, it's not my style of play but I can see it working. Your list would look like this

McMourning

Sebastian

Zombie Chihuahua

4 Canine Remains

Killjoy

Necropunk

You take the Necropunk because he's super quick, and when he dies (and he will) you can use his Slow to Die action to summon Killjoy and proceed to brain people. if the Necropunk dies to early you can always use a Dog. If you can get McMourning, Sebastian, Flesh Constuct and Killjoy onto the table, your opponent will have a hard time coping but again, I wouldn't play this way with him.

Hi all, first post here.

After my first game last night, I got into some trouble while using bete. It's a bit embarrassing to recount here, but the short story is that bete got perma-killed by some exploding steampunk arachnids. I didn't think about the fact that their negative twist to casting ability would cause me to be unable to cheat on her bury spell...

that sorted her out

So I have a bête related question. I asked some friends and was told that bête does not automatically get fast when she replaces a model because the 2 models are never on the table at the same time. One dies and as soon as it leaves play bt takes the place it had just occupied. However recently I read the errata and found that she no "youmay choose to place this model in base contact with the killed or sacrificed model before it is removed from play." Does this mean that the model dies after bête comes into play. This could mean that as the model dies after activating her ability or is there an important diference between killed/sacrificed and removed from play?

I wouldn't know what the accepted ruling is around here, but I asked about this too at my table. We eventually agreed based on the following two facts:

1. she gains fast when someone is Killed.

2. she is placed After someone is killed, but Before they are removed from the table.

As she is not present when the model is Killed, we decided that she doesn't gain fast from the model that causes her to appear on the board.

Any comments?
