Yu and the Charm Warder

I've got a question about the interaction between the Charm Warder's "Ward off Evil" (Enemy models may not place scheme markers within 3") and the Wandering River Style upgrade. 

 

Assuming I use Mighty Gust to target an enemy Charm Warder, what happens? Are the scheme markers I removed simply lost?

I'm going to go with yes. 

Shenlong (or I suppose Sensei yu) are an enemy model to the charm warden, and so can not place scheme markers within 3". Mighty gust only allows them to place markers within 3" of the Charm warden, so they can't place them, and they will then just be removed.
