In regards to my own progress, I'm still working on a few more woes to "complete" the keyword (still missing Tyrant-torn and Dorian in the collection 😭) I hope to finish those in the next few days, and will probably post some finished photos along with my thoughts on basing soon™.
there seem to be more pictures for sure it's amazing
so: half a crew is better than none with the Viks i'll peak at 82 SS
Looks nothing like imagined but its a welcome change to be working without contrast paints again.
Aaaaaand i definitely need a better background for my Photographs. Any pro Tips ? otherwsie i'll go back to the white again i guess 😕

Hi there! coming late, but have been some busy weeks, and the scarce hobby time i had i was focused on a non mali project 😓
For this month I'll finish my urami models, with the 5 seishin, their time has finally come!
Also I LOVE this month masterclass topic, i use the basing to make simple minis more interesting or to bring cohesion to the bands, even if the terrain is different, just by painting the bases in the same color, or adding similar details.
Honestly, i don't have a way to go, everything works, cardboard, cork, sand, wood, plasticard, bits of sprues, wire... and diorama products (mud, water effects, crackle effects...) whatever works for the vibe i want to give to the mini or crew.
Sometimes i spend more time on the base than on the mini itself 😬
Here's a couple of examples form old works:
Crew cohesion: Oni crew
each mini has a different color palette, but just by giving this bright red accent and having matching bases, they look more like a "united" band
Elaborate bases:
Malifaux rats:
Dawn serpent:I did a small tutorial for the sakura tree too 👉 https://imgur.com/gallery/p6YGaZE
And on a similar but different line, here's my most overkill "basing" work, a shared base for my Plague crew:
And a bit of the process here 👉 https://imgur.com/gallery/MlovJdZLove the Cheese. thanks for sharing, makes me think of building bases myself again. Maybe if i ever start Bayou (next year?)

Welcome to the Hive! excited to see what you do with them.
Now that we are only a normal crew and not something that gives everyone PTSD i am more comfortable investing time into the hive. I have started on painting all the bases. I have mixed several different ones to represent the spy network being in several places and i am trying to give them a uniform mood/colour right now
Also i will try some yet untestet paints on the skintones so , i am probably even more curious what will happen

I so hate that sculpt... Also the new Viks... Ashes and Blood will probably stay my fav Viks for a while.
Also i've seen sbdy put Ashes and Blood on a 50mm base, that looked so good and fitting.Yeah, but i don' think i would want to rip my Ashes and blood off their bases and magnetize them, nor am i interested in byuing and painting them a second time. Building a 50 mm base around two finished bases looked way too awkward, it was my original intent because the original artwork on the card did not appeal to me either.
The quality of the new sculpt is pretty good and it was fun to paint it, so that solved it for me at least. What bothers me most with the new titles is incorporating 1 enforcer into two concepts of Colourscheme/technique/Basedesign, cause with me this has varied a lot from crew to crew / faction to faction

Hm... i'll give it a go i guess, just need to sell all my warhammer stuff to make more Room for terrain

Okay but playing two such immensely time-eating games is very hard. How do you even manage to eat in between? The dudes still look great.
Maybe only play Elden Ring? It's not as if Destiny still offers new stuff after 100 Years

This Month i'll be finishing the Title Viktorias
afterwards i will try to paint as much nexus as i possibly can because i need them done end of April for a Tournament, where i most probably won't play them at all
-
I will Post my pictures 1 Day before Deadline. Haven't painted as much as i wanted but things got rough with the diversity of my hobby life.
So those are my Additional Soulstones this month, with Desper and Jessie i am at 63 and because i think it gives more of an impression of what my painting is about i'll give you the whole Crew, which i am fairly happy about
so onwards! into March

Hi there! The Bloody valentine competition is over, so i can share this month minis!
I painted the gakis, and used one of them for the competition as a single miniature i wanted to keep the vibe of the whole band, and added some extra gore for the contest theme
here's the entry:
I also presented a diorama, which looking back i kinda botched when adding the blood and with the lighting of the pic 🥲
The final diorama
Gonna update the sheet with my 12ss for the gakis! And I'll just have the seishins left to finish my urami minis!! 👏
You had my Singles Vote, i liked the simplicity. One day one of you guys must teach me how to make the stringy gore stuff

Yeah, I'm a big FFVII fan, and the original sword is just so small and tiny. Mind you I've had this model on my shelf since 2E, and the rules did not match the model back then (did he have 3" on that thing?) so I knew he needed "something". My modelling skills being as limited as they are, I thought that I atleast should be able to make him a somewhat convincing Buster sword (It's quite easy to make, really!).
Glad you think it turned out well, I wasn't all that certain when I was making it😁
Na it's spot on, i thought wyrd stole the buster sword design for the model because i did not know the Rider sculpt well enough . FF VII were the days though. I think it was the first reason to skip a day of school.

It's a recognisable sword, you converted it well.
So it is that sword. I was attributing the familiarity solely to Hawkoons painting skills

Greenstuff+hobby tool, but I imagine that is going to be the twice as slow method over some other ways of doing it. I seem to recall someone last month mentioning using resin but I have no personal experience with that so not sure how you even begin to go about it. Greenstuff works very well for big gaps but I will admit to having troubles using it to get a good finish on some of the smaller gaps in models. How big are the gaps you are talking about?
Really small. I usually take no offense at them, but as we are posting hi res Photos of painted miniatures here it is starting to get on my nerves rather fast
-
Allright let's dissolve plastic and sinuses alike then
-
quick ask for help: i am assembling some new miniatures that arrived yesterday.
There may be gaps.
Whats your favourite method of filling gaps? i'll by the way settle for the 85% solution over the 100% solution if the former is twice as fast.

Just to give you a good idea of what kind of work went into this, here are pre-painting shots:
So, currently looking at 66 soulstones for February. More to come for sure as I will start working on this Marcus the Barkus conversion later today during Wyrd painting stream ( to be found here: https://www.twitch.tv/playwyrd ) at 21:00 CET / 15:00 EST
As always, more pictures to be found on my IG account here https://www.instagram.com/what.the.faux/
Man. That Kurgan Conversion. The original will have something to prove to me now...
